    This new Corolla really is incredible, even on base trim! It is the best thing to happen for rental cars and long drives ,I absolutely hate turning it in!

    I leased a Corolla XSE 4-door 1½ months ago and love it. In fairness, my XSE does not have the optional navigation and JBL sound system, so my sticker price, after all weather floor liners and wheel locks, stayed at 26,821. I just felt like the extra standard equipment was worth the jump from SE to XSE. I figured if I was going from my BMW X1 to a Carolla, I wanted to at least enjoy the top trim level. It's comfortable and enjoyable to drive. It's still not my BMW in a few important ways, like it's powertrain, but the standard safety features along with the MUCH more comfortable interior makes up for that is spades. I truly enjoy my Corolla.

    Great video. We bought a 2021 used XSE with only 5,700 miles a few days ago. I would have bought a Camry SE probably, but my fiance had a strong preference for a smaller car. The larger dimensions of a Camry made her uncomfortable driving. She also had a strong preference for an automatic even though she knows how to drive a manual. Getting a top trim Corolla was what we decided upon. We love it. I agree with everything you said. I'm not a young guy buying my first car (I'm 55 yo - omg!), but we view cars as mostly transportation so getting anything higher end doesn't make sense in our opinion. Anyway, we love all of the features of the XSE Corolla with the optional JBL premium sound system and Qi wireless charger. Once I heard the JBL system in a Corolla it became a must have option as we began shopping. I love listening to classical music and classic rock, and my fiance loves jazz and the system sounds fantastic. My only modest disappointment is the cabin noise. There is a fair amount of road noise that comes into the cabin. That's where even lower trim Camry has a substantial advantage. Engine noise is not noticeable unless one really steps on the accelerator. I wonder if there are after market options to reduce cabin noise since I'm so OCD about it. We'll see. When I replace tires I will research and buy tires with highest ratings for noise transmission. Those stats are available on consumerreports.com and elsewhere. I had a nice Camry previously that I drove over 200,000 miles and I hope that this Corolla is as reliable. I love Toyota and Honda for their reliability. Great review!

    • @aliwesker
      @aliwesker Před 2 lety

      I am no expert but smaller rim with bigger rubber tires would help with the noise and increases the fuel efficiency that is why lower end Toyota's have that better.
      I drive a 2011 Lexus and that car is practically noise free due to a lot of cushioning inside the door panels. you could probably do it yourself watching some CZcams videos. I just signed up to buy a new XSE from the dealer and the wait time is 2-3 months and to be delivered from the factory. I thought that is crazy, but it worth the wait. I am about 40yo and love new sporty cars but having my experience with Lexus and Toyota it is absolutely no brainier, the used model does not depreciate so anyone buying it made the right choice.

    So let me just say this!!! Personally I'm a Honda guy I drive a 2004 Honda Accord V6 6 speed with the hfp package Honda factory performance only one of 500 ever made pretty quick little car and then I have a 95 Civic Coupe that's a fully built car I take to the track I mean built block built head roll cage racing seats harnesses every piece of suspension upgraded you name it always been a Honda guy
    My uncle is now in his mid forties as a wife and kids hasn't had a fun car in a long time he wanted to get a Subaru WRX STI unfortunately the wife just wasn't going for it because she needed to drive it once in awhile even though she has her own vehicle and she can't drive manual
    Poor guy he ended up deciding on a Corolla but he didn't want to go with the plane Jane model he wanted to still have some fun so he ended up getting the xse WITH EVERY SINGLE OPTION THEY CAME WITH
    Wanted to make it a little more fun for him since I know it's a fun car but he was still disappointed he didn't get the car he wanted so I went and got the best cold air intake on the market for it he now has k&n cold air intake borla cat back exhaust and a header AKA downpipe and there's now a shop here that chips and tunes the computers and he's gained over 30 HP and the thing is much more peppy and much more fun to drive and actually sounds really really good with those bolt-on modifications not like a racy fart can tin exhaust that you typically think of 4 cylinder would sound like modified it actually sounds really good
    Although it may not keep up with my V6 6-speed Accord Coupe manual with bolt-ons it did however give my Civic a run for its money when it still had the single overhead cam 1.6 with intake headers exhaust bigger intake manifold bigger throttle body bigger fuel injectors bigger fuel pump computer chipped in tuned and actually kept up with it and gave it a run for its money before I tore the motor apart and completely rebuilt it from the ground up with high comp Pistons better rods better bearings high comp valve springs retainers stage 3 cam etc
    Overall it will say this even though it's not the coolest car out there if you're stuck with a commuter car if you get the manual it would be the best one but it if you can't get the xse throw intake at her exhaust on it get the computer chipped in tuned tint the windows some coilovers for it and you can make these pretty damn fun little daily drivers you won't be the fastest thing out there but you will have some serious fun and give a few cars a run for their money from red light to red light around similar horsepower numbers

      I notice you didn't mention the Corollas cutting edge design, tech innovations, or powertrain performance. Heck you didn't even mention the Corollas lesser interior passenger and cargo space, lack of keyfob remote start, lesser trunk storage capacity, lack of dual zone climate, lack of power front passenger seat, lack of Android Auto, all as compared against the 10th gen Honda Civic. I guess those vehicle features are less important to Toyota fanboys than "resale/reliability". I'll be hating as I zip past a Corolla in my 174hp Civic Touring sedan.
