- We're continuing our adventure in Honey Heist, the game where everyone plays as bears planning a heist to get honey. This was originally streamed live as part of Jingle Jam. Mystery Quest is a roleplaying podcast where we play a variety of one-shot roleplaying games with a rolling cast of special guests.

"to everyone else they just witnessed a horrible industrial accident" Such an underrated line
"Your honey or your life" wow incredible ravs
I’m loving the bear and bee puns.
“Bumble”.
“A bear hug”.
“The Bee-et-Kong”.
“Your Honey or your life”.
“J-Bee”.
“We’re both bears… in a gay bar”.
I don’t think you could play this without the puns.
Everyone groaning when Tom mentioned the Bee Gees was great too
Simon has just discovered the cheat code to win at all TTRPG's. I would be legitimately shocked if he doesn't try this again at some point. And Tom will be prepared.
What other TTRPGs have a mechanic that allows any player to retcon anything at any time?
Well, they did stream this so the timelimit might have swayed in abit
@@OrangeDog20 Blades in the Dark has a flashback system. It doesn't let you change something already established in the fiction of the game but it does let you recontextualize it and everything else is fair game. It's a really powerful and interesting system.
Mystery Quest is really turning out to be some of the best stuff to sit down and watch at the start or end of the day. Can't wait for the next adventure lol
Just casually produces the best Table Top RolePlay content on CZcams consistantly every week without fail.
The “let him have it”/“shoot him” reference was so incredibly niche, i really appreciated that
Was that a Derek Bentley reference?
Flashbacks to GCSE English
This is the best TTRPG channel on CZcams hands down! Would love to see you play Cy_Borg at some point!
Hold onto your butt!

Yes, Daddy Bear, Sir
Dammit Lydia! I knew it! I knew it was too good for a Jeremy like me :( Sad part is, my eyes ARE probably bad enough that I wouldn't recognize a bear in a dress until I was within arm's reach.
Said it before but I really love how these gaming sessions show a different side of everyone involved. No pandering to the whims of chat, no focusing on the game, just playing for the fun of it. It's genuinely nice to see everyone relaxed and enjoying themselves.
Also love Pyrion's reluctant yet wholehearted dive into bear/honey puns.
I am impressed by how well Tom ran this game. The scarcity of detail would leave me at a loss as to what to do and where to go, but he keeps it moving. Kudos to the whole team as well for much the same reason.
Its so nice to see Symon in so many Mystery Quest videos.
You wake up. Completely unmotivated. After 100 or so loops, you don’t know what there’s even left to try. No matter what you do, nothing breaks it. You go about your day as normal. Walk the same monotonous route to work, sit down at your same desk and continue the monotonous work. Although I suppose it was monotonous even before the time loop. You don’t think anything can surprise you, after all, you’ve experienced this day 100 times. But when an email comes through, you can’t help but stare. This shouldn’t be possible. This didn’t happen during any other loop. “No turning back”, was in the subject field. You look around, everyone was acting normal. Do you open the strange cryptic email?… or are you on… *A MYSTERY QUEST!*
Reminds me of The Lasarus Project in a way
I didn't really hit me how ridiculous this was until I summarized the ending to a friend of mine and that's when I started laughing.
I said:
I just watched a bear criminal heist TTRPG game where Simon the diggy diggy hole guy blew up the backstabber villain with a gay ass-bomb
super fun goofy game that rewards the obscure creativity of the yogs!
in terms of what I'd like to see more of, would love to see more spooky horror like the call of cthulu runs! Learning mysteries along with the players is so enjoyable and by the end it's an experience that really sticks with you.
34:50 The Flashback, this might be one of my favorite Pyrion moments.
Pyrion is so much fun in these tabletop things. The combination of the voice and the body language he puts in when he uses it is so good. I swear, there's one particular moment in each and every one of these games that has me bawling with laughter, and this was the one.
Hey. Don't think y'all will see this but I've been in a horrible rut. I'm probably going through a depressive episode due to my bipolar disorder and it's hard to even set up coffee in the machine, but every day I wake up I try to watch happy videos to pull myself out of it as best I can. I'm still struggling, but seeing this video, all the funny gags and joy between friends helps me get to a better place. So thank you guys so much for doing these videos. They help me and people like me survive the damn chemistry in our heads. You may not see this, but I just wanted to express my gratitude.
Systems I'd love to see on this channel
Salvage Union: a d20 based mechwarrior-esque game of post apocalypse wasteland salvage and hijinks
Troika: super narrative driven rules light d6 system for bonkers interdimensional trippy scenarios
Dragonbane: if DnD was monty python holy grail does Lord of the Rings. A reincarnation of a classic Swedish rpg
All has been gold thus far, but personally wishing more Mörk Borg games... or just something crazy.
You should try blades in the dark, it also has a flashback mechanic. Basically everyone is scoundrels and you do oceans 11 style jobs or peaky blinders style gang warfare. Also there are ghosts
I remember hearing that artificial... banana flavour I think it was that aggroes bees? One of the artificial fruit flavours, at least, has a main component that is the same as bees' "sortieing on this target, requesting backup" pheromone. So you could _totally_ buy a big jug of it online and soak someone's uniform in it to make bees hate them, but it would also make the guards banana flavoured -- and they'd probably smell it ("Huh, must be banana-scented laundry soap today. Boy that stuff is strong!". Then again, making the guards banana flavoured would probably be a plus with this crew.
As always, love this channel. Regarding systems, I think Blades in the Dark uses a similar (but limited) flashback system so a more serious heist one-shot could be fun
(also would love to see Fabula Ultima and/or Ryuutama)
"You don't know anything about bees, right chat?"
Well here's a random fact I've heard: It's not the honey the bears are after when they raid a hive. It's the brood. 😏
36:35
"The blood pumps. The limbs obey."
Would love to see something cyberpunk-y at some point, Cy_borg or even just Cyberpunk Red would be pretty sick.
“I’ve got a cybernetic penis”
-First sentence during a cyborg game.
If you really liked this system or found it interesting for those watching, I recommend "Blades in the Dark" a similar heist style theme but more serious. Kind of a Victorian grim dark like dishonored or blood borne. It has the esteemed flash back mechanic. Check it out Tom I think it would make a great vid.
I'm honestly SO glad that Tom flashed Pyrion back in, he was absolutely just getting involved outside of his scenes and not giving the others their table time, I know that's exciting to be doing a session, but you gotta let the others play as well!
What he lacks in hair he makes up for in narrative engagement.
And in his sizzling looks in general, of course.
Tom this is great Rp. Thank you for running it
I wonder how many people have never heard Y2K bug and didn't get the intro at all.
Explain to me how Left 4 Dead was mentioned and no zom-bee's pun was issued forth??
in the animorphs, one of them turned into a bear and used their claw to hotwire a car, so nice call ravs
The thumbnail is giving me Dr Pyrion and Simon Mini-Me vibes :p
omg these are sooo good! i dont think i ever seen ravs laugh quite that hard before! bro almost fell out of his chair backwards lol... tom, you absolutely kill it as a dm...
Hilariously, there's a chemical in bananas that may simulate bee alarm pheromones.
A special Tom treat after work, that's nice.
Loving the rhythm of play in these sessions. Hats off to everyone around that table for making it feel fun.
Here's some amazing engagement for your comment engagement! Engagement engagement! Wow such engaging engagement!
Rav's Bear's pinky nail is a dual lockpick and pollen scraper.
I would love to see a reprise of Goblin Quest with new people in it.
That final pun of Simons 😂 I’m ded
I didn't expect a Y2K themed intro, but wow that really gets me thinking.
It makes me think of 'Kollok 1991' or Kids on Bikes in general
Its a like a slightly raunchy Pixar movie
The Avatar role playing game might be really fun!
You should run Monsterhearts. I can't even imagine how over-the-top the players would take it.
Got an ad for the movie "The Beekeeper" on this video.
I want to see Lewis unleashing his wheelboi in Tales from the Loop.
such a good adventure, genuinely had me in tears at points
I love these one shot adventures, a find it hard to keep interest in longer campaigns where the story can be slow to progress. But I think it would be fun to see recurring characters. There doesn't need to be an overarching storyline done in one shot episodes. I don't know if there is a game thats tailored to that type of roleplay
I wouldn’t mind like a 8-10 episode one. Not a massive one like a critical role campaign. Just one twice as long as a normal game on this channel.
I recommend "blades in the dark" for more crime/heist ttrpg with a flashback mechanic, in a similar way to how Simon used it. It can be either one shot or more long term.
Oxventure did it really well if you need an example
Loving the show, would love to see you tackle Blades in the Dark
PLAY SWYVERS WHEN IT COMES OUT IT'S SUIT YOUR VIBE SO WELL
Y'know it's really a missed opportunity not getting Lewis in this since he seems to love to retcon his own abilities and resources throughout TTRPGs
I have played this twice personally. It goes like this every time. This is just so zany.
I'm so surprised they missed lydia's honeypot and called it catfishing instead.
Another vote for Cy_Borg! Also a new game called Perils and Princesses came out recently and is really fun, fairy tale themed RPG, everyone plays a fairy tale princess-who all have their own Fairy Godmothers and powers-it’s very cool
I'd love to see you play TORG:Eternity.
Uses dice and cards, and is multi genre. It's a lot of fun and pulls off action scenes really well. Makes for a very cinematic experience.
Call the securi-bee!
Simon is the best!! Loved this!!
Amazing Amazing Amazing. The funniest shit i've watched in a while. Thoroughly LOVED the whole thing.
I’d love to see you play Troika! - easily generated characters, a relatively simple system and would love to see what the group do with high science-fantasy!
Mike Tyson in a bee suit look it up. He needs to be bee- yonces bodyguard.
This was great would love to see more silly stuff along side the a spooky stuff
Hell yeah
Pyrion going "Rip and Bear, until it is done" on them bees
ll pay respects button for the victims of the 2016 \/ Honey Con
Queen Bee-yonce makes me think of Queen Bee-elzubub from Helluva Boss. Honey Heist set in hell would be pretty funny tbf.
Go on when she wants to be? Beeonce sounds like a real Beeva
Really love mystery quest
43:24- Aww Ravs, you missed the trick here, you could have done a highland charge right at the line of firearms
I'm loving this channel a hell of a lot, to the point I paid for the membership! I'd love to see your take on the Knave system as it can lend itself to rp and give a lot of options for changing play styles due to the inventory system. That said I'd love to see a classic fantasy setting for an adventure. Not necessarily D&D style but anything in the vein. Warhammer world would be great!
So kind of YogscastJeremy to guest star on this episode
Mouseguard seems up your alley, a roleplaying game where you all play as mice in a strange fantasy setting
Trust Simon to end it how he did lol very good
nice, well done
59:50 - yeah, you know what you've done :D
it would take some planning id imagine but a mad max or dune style would be cool to see story wise
Did anyone else catch Pyrion's "Of Mice and Men" reference? lol
The Tom point!
Love the energy, cast and the variety of games!
Could I suggest Mutant Crawl Classics by Goodman Games as a potential candidate? I think it could bring a good amount of post-apocalyptic weirdness and explosive chaoss to the show.
Love the content, would love to see some crash pandas
loved it, great stuff, thanks for all the effort you put in!
Greatly enjoyed this! Didn't catch the stream so was great to watch it back here.
Your mothership playthrough got me hot for some classic like alien style roleplaying and I've since discovered the Alien RPG which I've LOVED.
Would massively recommend giving it a look if you're interested
Id like to see you play "Eat the Reich" the kickstarter game you looked at on tom and ben stream
I just got my PDF through of it. But waiting on the physical book. I'm sure we will record it at some point!
@@Mystery_Quest oh damn I'm so excited mystery quest is one of my favourite CZcams series, so definitely want to see more
This was so funny, please do more similar!
Could I ask someone behind the channel to make playlists for the different campaigns?
Loving the videos!
there's already playlists on the channel page :) there isn't a tab set up for them though.
Loved Honey Heist and getting to watch it live! My group played it a few times and it always goes the most insane kinds of funny.
As for recomendations, I'd suggest 'For The Dungeon', it's somewhat similar to Honey Heist mechanically but with a few more types of action. You play as typical fantasy monsters in a dungeon run by the villain of a typical horoic fantasy who sends you off on wacky raids. I was a gelatinous cube that made hoover noises and started a cleaning buisness to infiltrate towns. We also had a kitten called Mittens The Eater Of Worlds, who was a regular kitten that could unhinge her jaw to eat very big things. We also had several goblins in a trench coat who spoke constantly as a noire detective.
I want more honey heist
On the flashback mechanic, I've been curious about Blades in the Dark for as long as I've known about it. Don't know how good it is for one-shots, but I'd love to see something in that world or with that system from this channel!
A game ill love to see you try and something id think you have a lot of fun playing its called vampires the masquerade
Ravs describing putting his arm over the chair to reverse the excavator synchronised perfectly with me doing the same thing to back up my forklift
Guess I have to wait till next month for new quest 🙈😭
I feel like the only reason I want to criticize you is because I never watched this live. I have enough self-awareness to acknowledge I'd feel similar if I had. I'm not sure I like the format of taking live streams and cutting them down into episodes with the weekly uploads because if people have seen them live they get no new content for a month. And you *are* supporting the channel as a member.
That said, think of the benefits. They don't have a huge backlog of mystery quests, this gives the team an opportunity to recover from the Christmas season and start the new year with potentially multiple campaigns being recorded and edited before this one is finished uploading. I don't know how long the stream is so I don't know how many episodes there will be, but this gives them tons of time to record a new campaign, potentially several, is what I'm getting at. Your upset is valid, but try to see those positives in it.
Yeah I'm gonna drop my membership for a month because I watched live. Probably will pick it up when they make new content but feels like £20 for nothing @@thefinal9923
This is the final part of Honey Heist, then the next game presumably starts on 13th January. Unless I've missed something big, you only have to wait another week for something brand new.
It's super common (and healthy) for creators to have time off, esp the yogs in Jan after jingle jam. Mystery quest hasn't been going long enough to create a backlog of vids to put out so I'm perfectly fine with some reruns while either tom takes a break, or records more so he can take a break in the future
... I can only assume you thought it was still december when you wrote this?
Super bear god tom
I would love if you try Pulp Cthulhu at some point. The players are way stronger in that version and there is more fighting. Look like a lot of fun. The Mutant Epoch is another one that I would be curious to see you play.
This was such a fun silly game, enjoyed watching it again after seeing it live. They did a good job to do so much with so little
Can we get a Blades in the Dark session sometime?
Way better then I thought. Loved these bears. Especially wise boy Wally
This was epic! One of my favorites you have made
Tbf I can see Simon and Cthulhu going to a gay bar together 😂
Much prefer the spooky games. More CoC!
This story is amazing. Anyone wanna help me come up with potential title names for it?
Dirty Honey
or
The Queen of Bees
or
Bee's Eleven
or
Bee of Hives
or
Bee or High Bear
or.... Idk, any other silly ideas? Anyone?
The Bee, the Bear, and the butt plug?
