Ingredients:
Slow cooker, Oven or Electric skillet:
1 moose or brisket roast, any size ¼ cup suet or fat pork (optional) for moose roast
2 cups beef broth or 1 OXO cube 1 Tbsp olive oil
Fresh rosemary or dried Fresh thyme or dried
1 tsp sea salt 1 tsp black pepper
1 medium chopped onion 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 pieces of garlic 2 sticks of celery, chucked
½ tsp liquid smoke (optional ) 2 carrots
1 potato, chucked ½ turnip, chucked
2 tbsp steak or BBQ sauce
Method:
Prepare your slow cooker to low, or set the oven to 275º or 300ºf to preheat!
Then in the slow cooker, skillet pan or roaster. Add the moose roast or brisket, if they are frozen let thaw over night in the fridge before using the next day.
Peel and cut in chucks your onion, carrot, turnip, potato and celery, put around and on the bottom of the roast!!
Then toss all seasonings, broth and Worcestershire and steak sauce over roast. If you don’t have any beef broth use one block of oxo cube or bovril with 2 cups of water. Add more half ways cooking if needed.
If you don’t have fresh rosemary or theme use dried or ground. You can also use savoury in place of theme.
Turn the slow cooker to low and cook for 6 to 8 hours or cook for 3 to 4 hours in the oven, or electric skillet.
Serve with veggies and side of choice, also make a gravy from the drippings.
Bonita’s Tips!
You can brown off the roast before putting it in to slow cook in a frying pan for a few minutes on each side. Seasoning the roast with salt and pepper on both sides before frying. Add butter and oil to the hot pan. Building flavours is important when slow cooking game meat or a brisket roast.
When cooking in the oven or electric skillet don’t leave unattended just incase you need more liquid or risk of burning.

Hi Wendy..Thank you for stopping by and I hope you had a lovely St. Patrick's Day yesterday. We have snow today and they call it Sheila's Brush meaning a little brush of snow after St. Patrick's Day to end the season. The term comes from an Irish legend which says that Sheila was the saint's wife (or sister or mother) and that the snow is a result of her sweeping away the old season. I hope that's what happens we are ready for the snow to be gone...Haha...Enjoy of new recipe and video. :) Bonita
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Bonita and Raymond!!!! I have never tasted moose, however, I know it is a very lean meat. Say zoo. Now say Wooster. That is how you pronounce the W sauce. I am going to try this recipe Bonita. Once again, thank you both, and your team for all you do for us viewers to enjoy your Sunday Show. Have a great week, be safe, and stay healthy.

HI Jerri thank you so much for your lovely message and for stopping by. We had a lovely St. Patrick's Day but didn't celebrate only eat lot's of food. Haha...but we dressed in green. I'm glad you enjoyed our moose recipe. We try to post a few moose recipes for the viewers who got a moose licence and a deep freeze full of meat. Yes do ask the butcher for the fat trimmings because they don't always put it out....Some don't mine giving you a bag full and others just say no...store policy. Have a lovely day my friend and hope you are doing well. :) Your neighbour :) Bonita
Wouldn't you know it? My local Chicago grocery store was fresh out of moose - lol - so cow it will just have to be. I LUV one-pot slow cooker meals. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Hahaha ....How could they be out of moose meat!!! Haha..That is so funny. We don't have moose meat very often. Only when I get a gift from someone that got a moose licence. We have a lot of NL east coast and west coast viewers that is always looking for a moose recipe so I try and put up a few for them to make and enjoy. :) Hope your day is going well so far....Thank you for stopping by..:) Bonita
Seems like this could have been a "Traditional Newfoundland" recipe. I've never had moose but would happily try it. Closest moose to where I live is in Colorado but only recently have they opened a hunting season.
Hi and thank you for your message and for stopping by..Yes moose recipes are traditional here in NL, years ago most people would rely on the land and sea for food. Our days not so! Must of the younger generations probably would never even try wild game meat. This is indeed a lovely meal and I'm sure cooking a roast of any type would be lovely slow cooked as well. Thank you once again for stopping by and leaving a message. :) Welcome!! Bonita
Amazing recipe. Thank you very much for sharing❤
You are so very welcome and thank you for watching our video for moose roast slow cooked and I hope you get to make it sometime. :) Enjoy Bonita
That is how you do it!
Hi Linda!! Thank you for stopping by and for leaving a message. How would you slow cook your moose meat or game meat to tenderize it and make it very tender and tasty? Bonita
W Sauce - easy peasy - just say Wu stir - as simple as that Wu stir sauce !!!
