What's the recoil like on the M2? I've got a bad shoulder and moving away from my O/U to a semi. As its not gas operated I wondered if its going to be very similar to an O/U or if its still a lot softer?
I'm yet to find somewhere to go and try one!

Not bad at all, The inertia driven action soaks up a lot of felt recoil. The comfortech stock is also designed to absord recoil. I regularly put heavy loads through mine and the recoil isnt bad at all.

    Will 2 3/4 shells work?

  • @roadjoker13

Don't you find that the M2 sometimes struggles with cycling when using lighter weight cartridges, like 28g ?, mine quite often gets jammed on the cycle when shooting clays.

That really surprises me, how long have you had it? Mine honestly will chew up anything I feed it, I was shooting 24g eley selects through it the other day with no issue at all.

Had the M2 for about 5 years, love the thing except for several cases of ejection jamming. I even had Benelli take a look at it for me, they said that because its inertia operated, it prefers heavier loads to give the cycle more kick. I was using RIO 28g and had the ejection jam several times on several instances. I tried a day with 32g and I didn't have the same problem, but when shooting clays I don't really want to use above 28g.

@@roadjoker13 strange mate, I know a few other guys with M2s that'll cycle most shells the shell you see in my opening sequence is a hull 27g super fast, normally what I shoot through the m2 on clays. I regularly put 24g/28g/30g and upwards through mine and it cycles them all fine. I've out 10's of thousands of cartridges through mine though, well broken in. I remember when mine was new it didn't like anything less than 28g and they had to be hot. But that was for only the first 1000 rounds of so I would say, then it became less and less fussy as I've used it.

Thanks ! Great review. Just looking for something around the 600-900 quid mark if you've any thoughts. Mainly for crows pigeons and a few clays

The benelli m1 is £900 new, exactly the same gun, except it doesn't come with the comfortech stock, choke selection of 3 rather than 5,or hard carry case. Shy of that I would look at browning maxus, or any berreta auto. All good guns.

@@sportsmanscorner6498 thanks for that ! Really appreciated. Funnily enough I looked at an A391 in camo which felt and looked amazing,( bit jazzy !). But thought it might be a bit OTT for clays, crows n pigeons. Also looked at an SX3 n 4, but it just didn't do it for me some how. Looked too at a Mossberg and again, side by side with a Beretta..... no contest to my relatively untrained shotgun eye. What spooked me slightly was YT vid on Troubleshoot A391 !!! Which alarmed me to say the least. Anyway, much appreciate your reply. I don't tend to swap n change, and at 900 notes want to make the right choice.
      Cheers Roj

RiojaRoj at least in other parts of Europe you can get the M2 Euro, which is the same except the stock, number of chokes and it doesn’t come with a case. Also, the Montefeltro synthetic is the same action but with a longer fore end and flat rib and same less costly extras as the M2 Euro.
