I think mental health awareness should be introduced in schools. And parents be sensitized also because not all parents have the knowledge about mental health illness.

By the way...what people need to understand is that the mind can get sick, just like how the other body parts get sick...we should never stigmatize people who go through such challenges.
And can I just say..that people who suffer mental illness are very bright. Sometimes it feels like the devil fights against the Intelligence that God has put in such people....but the beautiful thing is that the Lord is always with us...He holds us...He embraces us...gives us hope to face another day!
Thanks for sharing your life with us Edna....you are an inspiration!

I have learned alot of things from this young lady. I've a friend & a Nephew suffering from this type of mental illness. My friend who is a young lady uses medication unlike my nephew who does not use much of this. I've learned that one can use medication & lead a positive life & be productive in life. The most important thing is now, i know. May God bless & heal them IJN.

After 2 head Anylosma opperations, i learnt to live life a day @ a time with Jesus, i also learnt not Everybody is who you thought they were in your life, and i also learnt family remains family regardless all the challanges in life. And that all the days ORDAINED for me by God in this world were written in His book before one of them came to be. Psalms 139:13- 18. And verse 23-24 became my every day prayer. Am no longer afraid of Death.

I am healing from severe depression and I have an uncle with schizophrenia. I understand how it feels to be stigmatized and for people not to understand what one is going through. But once you understand and accept yourself, things become easier to handle.
For anyone going through any mental illness, please know that you are very strong because you have to battle with your mind everyday. Don't be fazed by what people say.

This vid was super informative in helping me understand what my son is going through. God has helped us to cope overall, however, our challenge is that our son is not able to fully accept his condition at 39 yrs of age. He has been alienated by most of his friends and understandably so in some cases. He blames everyone for what is happening or becomes verbally abusive, especially when he thinks someone is attempting to put him down. He minimize most of his own negative behaviors while maximizing the smallest offense he receive from others. I would love to share this vid with him but I know he will not accept it. We seriously want to help but just don’t know how.

Just like bipolar disorder and other mental illnesses,,I come From a family where almost everyone from my father's side is schizophrenic ,sadly it caught up with both my brother and sister too since sadly , its a genetic thing in our family ,all this has prompted me to take up courses such as social work and clinical psychology just so to understand this schizophrenia menace.
