Breath of the Wild's four champions were fundamental to the entire game's existence; and because Link can free their spirits by defeating the Blight Ganons that were plaguing their Divine Beasts, we are able to give their dead souls peace at the end of the game. But could it be that something rather malicious was keeping them here in our realm? Join me to find out!

And yet, the dumb flying one has what is arguably the best theme.
What got me was how nonchalantly he said it, while the music just abruptly stopped with that sound, which I can't remember the proper name of. He just said it with the exact same tone as the rest of the sentence, as if it was completely normal.

I think that the blights had no elemental power to begin with, but after defeating the champions the malice absorbed their dead bodies and honed and concentrated their powers and twisted them to their own dark purposes. As for the spirits, I would say they were trapped inside the blights, forced to help defeat link against their will.
Then how are we able to fight the Blights in their full elemental power in AoC? Since they never killed the Champions in that timeline.

After doing all 4 of the divine beast i wish they had it so that, in the deepest and darkest parts of each divine beasts, the champions were bound to the wall by malice almost dead being forcefully kept alive in order to use them to control the beasts. Although this would be way to dark for this game.
this is honestly what i expected to see when i first played lol
Why would Ganon even do this though? He doesn't need to pilot the divine beasts; he just needs to make sure no one else pilots them.
@user-pd5iw4mm6e oh yeah, sorry. I didn’t think of that
That sounds so stranger things and I love that show but that is disgusting 😭🤣
If the warrior game is canon they did fight them so there not using their bodies
I think the blight's hair is what had made me question this initially, since fireblight has spiked hair tufty things like Daruk, windblight has braides like Ravioli, waterblight has a lock on left and right (fins), then hair flowing down behind (tail) like Mipha, then thunderblight has longish hair like Urbosa
The Calamity Ganon you fight beneath the castle also has hair and a beard similar in appearance to King Rhoam.

@@geoffreyrichards6079 but the body could have been carried away we dont know
*_I SAID SOMETHING SIMILAR YO!_* dude they even resemble each other, you agree!
the interesting thing is...i can actually sort of see this as a possibility. the blights all KINDA match their champions' physique, and the champion ability part lines up. maybe that's why it's so important that the blights are masked; to hide the grotesquely decayed and malice-coated faces of the deceased champions within.
That’s it’s im traumatized
Edit:holy smokes thanks for the likes
Wait, huh.... HOLY SHIT
I always thought they looked like decaying corpses but this... huuhhh... those poor champions ;__;
Gory but ok!
So they're just blight-covered Redeads contolled by Calamity Ganon?
edit: apparently malice doesn't need to corrupt to give form
Well to be honest when I was playing age of calamity. I noticed that the blight ganons seemed to have more of an element aura that they do in age of calamity. Perhaps calamity Gannon cloned the champions in blights but the blights were only temporary. And in order to make these blights permanent, the blights had to defeat and absorb each champion.
That just makes it more dark
That makes a lot of sense, actually
@@fairyflight8436 That’s just how dark the game is.
@@fairyflight8436 it's honestly not too bad, there's been worse in the Zelda series before
I wasn’t very interested in what happened with their bodies until I recall the SOS messages in each divine beast’s soundtracks I listened recently. I think basic forms of the blights with a copy of their abilities fought the champions, the champions were defeated and the blights got inside them before the last heartbeat to absorb their full powers. It’s pretty dark to imagine the details of how the champions’ bodies ended after the fight but from my point of view the malice parts completing the missing armor parts show us the image. For example, Waterblight Ganon’s legs are severed, it’s torso is ripped from one side, has a little thing of a head and the right arm and other parts are made of pure malice giving me the impression of how damaged Mipha’s body was.

what if in the sequel there is something similar to this, because the teal color we can see basically symbolizes spirits, we can see a scene of link wearing the ominous hand?? which means it probably has some sort of special property, and we also know from the developers that in the game they're reusing the "overworld' and we'll be able to explore it, just a bit different. there have been spirit worlds and things similar in past zelda games ex. wolf link. so what if we get to be in some sort of spirit realm and see the champions at some point, or other spirits? I think that the blight ganons were sent to each divine beast as a way of “teasing” in a sense. Gannon most likely wanted to have them fight a better version of themselves, and likely did this because he knew the champions would be in their divine beasts. For example, Waterblight Gannon and Mipha both possess spears, but Waterblight Ganon’s has a much longer reach and can be regrown, unlike Mipha. All of them were essentially better versions of each champion that were sent to defeat each one of them.
It also just makes sense from a gameplay perspective. Capping off a water-based dungeon with a boss that uses a different element wouldn’t make much sense.
That was a really good theory but I somewhat feel like you're onto something. I think that Ganon split his power into those blights (which would be pretty obvious) but he made their skills a hard match for each champion (which is obvious too) but I feel like he made them *his* champions, who would take the divine beasts and battle the actual champions, so basically they were cheap knockoffs of the champions, that are literal modified copies sent to kill them and battle for control of the divine beasts in Ganons' name.
They say in game that the blights killed them (at least Revali does)

I think the champions are still trapped in the divine beasts. When the collections of malice that would become the blights entered the divide beasts, they read their programming and made corrupted copies of the masters of each divine beast to fool the hardware in each divine beast. The champions bodies needed to be preserved to make the divine beast still obedient, but the blights were pulling the strings. I think the bodies of the champions will come back in the second breath of the wild, after all, ruta stopped working in the end, and I believe the spirits returned to their divine beasts to reunite with the stasised bodies of each champion, kept alive, barely
What do you think @MaskedNintendoBandit
@Brick Stone well I actually don’t think it was the afterlife they were going to. After all, link kind of does that when he is teleported by shieka magic
Well the new botw 2 and prequel will change this lol
Ok cool
Good theory
This is actually an awesome theory assuming that malice can- halt aging/ decomposition (in the event of corpses) and/or keep the champions in a form of half-life for the entirety of the 100 yr gap. (The anti aging/ decomposition is because rito and gorons i believe can't live to be 100+ like the zora can) or if so it would be a rare occasion (because neither elder / chief recognize link calling him "champion descendant".)
“and the dumb flying one”

Me: It's 3am let's go to sleep
MaskedNintendoBandit: what about _no_

Another detail that may support this theory is that Link only reunites with the Champions' spirits AFTER he has beaten each Blight Ganon which combined with the Blights having pretty similiar fightning tactics to their respective Champion like you said would make this theory even more believable.
But at the start of the blights' fights the champions mention that the blights killed them

That never occurred to me. I really just thought the blights fought fire with fire, and the champions do imply they fought these things before, not just that they were possessed. Waterblight has better range than Mipha. Fireblight was stronger than Daruk. Windblight has excellent anti air abilities to use against Ravali. Thunderblight could outspeed Urbosa.
to be honest, even after playing age of calamity, i partially agree with this theory. The blights actually do have quite a few differences, especially in appearance, to botw, so i think that its more like their spirits were merged/trapped in the originals
I would rather think that:
1. The Ancient robots turning against Hyrule was premeditated to an extent.
2. Only Daruk, Mipha, Revali, and Urbosa’s minds ever died after all, and their bodies were possessed by the four elemental Blight Ganons.
3. They have been living off the grid together since Link defeated Calamity Ganon and set them free.

Correction, this was at the very least the third, because the Sheika were prepared for him during their calamity, and impa describes the calamity as appearing “time and time again”
The spirit and physical world really sounds like Avatar....
Link:my first girlfriend turned into a malice demon
Zelda:that’s rough buddy

You do realize that Avatar didn’t invent the physical and spirit world, right?
Avatar was a great series tho
Omg so true
I hope we don't see the champions die... But I also want to see their fight and how they died...
They might do a TIPICAL family-friendly thing: show us their defeat but cut the scene 1 second before they are killed
We saw them defeated in the Champion's Ballad DLC.
I lost it at “the dumb flying one.”
I was also not on board whatsoever, until I audibly GASPED at your “hear me out” moment!!
Even the beginning of the vid was amazing lmao
For the sake of variety, I thought it’d be interesting if the blights either resembled corrupted versions of their respective race or take the forms of famous monsters associated with their realm.
Windblight: Roc
Thunderblight: Iron Knuckle
Water Blight: Gyorg, Octoroc or classic Zora. The fish monsters from a link to the past.
Fire Blight: Dodongo.
Thoughts?

"As a doctor, I know the importance of therapy..."
Thank you. I am glad you made this video because it truly proves that I am just smart and not crazy. I had this exact same theory during my encounter with thunderblight
Dude you’re amazing. I instantly subscribed. I can’t afford other consoles to play the Zelda games like BoTw , Skyward Sword, etc. I only have a 3DS and Ps2 so watching your content is fun because I get to see the games and learn more about them.
This thumbnail just made my jaw drop
Even tho it’s been confirmed that the champions did fight the blights themselves. It’s been confirmed in age of calamity that the calamity ganon can absorb entities like harbringer ganon did to Astor. So it is extremely possible that the blights absorbed the champions and made them stronger.
“Mipha Daruk Urbosa and the dumb flying one” Me: and i took that personally
WHAT I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT!!! IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE!! Thank you for enlightenment
We've never seen Ganon/Ganondorf with a beard and the one in the castle does have a thick, full beard... like the King of Hyrule
Edit: Ok, yeah, two Ganondorf's have a beard but it's not nearly as long and thick as this ones and it's almost identical to the King's.
That is weird
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess's Ganondorf
@@videoclipecamilo4749 thank you

Me watching this while hearing random footsteps at night when I all alone
When you said “the dumb flying one”, I almost spat out my iced tea. Well done.
HE KNEW ABOUT THE ALTERNATE TIMELINE
This theory is stupid. There’s all kinds of reasons why this would never be possible. Like.... um.... or maybe.... .....oh shit.
I mean besides the fact that literally anyone could be appointed as a pilot
Well now its deconfirmed XD
@@judo6506 compromise: the blights absorbed the Champions' corpses after killing them :)))
I haven't seen how it goes in hyrule warriors but the champions each say that the blights defeated them when you fight them in breath of the wild, it wouldn't really make sense to retcon that
@@MegaSpides I think that in itself refutes this theory, since we actually hear the champions during the battle.
Me: stop focusing on Zelda’s-
You: 5:47
Me: touché.
Love the double wink at the choosing the leader of the country part.
This video gave me goosebumps... I’m convinced!
Id like to say, its most likely that the King died on his throne. If you look at the King's throne it is destroyed while the Queen's (The unoccupied one) was untouched
Well, the cattle was ground zero; everyone there when Ganon returned was annihilated
Maybe Ganon tried to sit in it?
Whoever sees this the triforce will protect you have a great day
You too. ♥
Thanks!
This comment is gonna get spammed by bots in Zelda based videos I can feel it
Same to you
Whats cool is that the blights and champions hold the same kinds of weapons
It's always nice to see him
I wouldn't be sad to find out Revali was the first to die in battle against the Blights.
Just gonna leave a heart here-
Poor Ravioli...
There's a video that theorizes that revali was the last one to die
@@jlucas19 Share a link if you can, I dont think I've seen/heard of that theory, sounds intriguing
I am pretty sure there if you listen to the music in each divine beast (can't remember if it is as soon as the boss starts or when you enter) you can hear morse code for SOS play. This happens in each beast. All but Medoh. His takes longer because Revali is over confident. The other three start ...--... (music). Medoh starts like so (music) ...--... (music). I think, maybe, possibly
By far the best piece of evidence for this i think you missed was Naydra, the dragon of wisdom, being corrupted and controlled by malice. We know malice is capable of taking over extremely powerful entities which begs the question: If Ganon didn't corrupt the champions themselves, why not?
"Mipha, daruk, urbosa, and the dumb flying one"
I NEARLY DIED AT THAT
The blights really do resemble their Champion counterparts and that would explain why their spirits are freed once you kill the blights. It’s like they couldn’t Rest In Peace so long as their bodies were corrupted by malice
This is one of your best theories! It's so sad but it must be true.
The blights must have consumed the bodies of the champions, the way ganon consumed even guardians to make a body.
Well, the champions mention that the blights are what killed them (the bird idiot says he wasn't trying hard, which makes him look dumber), so I don't think they are created from the champions, although they still could have absorbed their bodies afterward
“And the dumb flying one” PURE GOLD I SPIT OUT MY WATER AND CHOKED ON THE LAUGHTER CLAWING ITS WAY OUT OF ME
Hey I'm not dumb >:-(
You know, there’s a short answer to this question, and it’s most likely just… they disappeared just like the way enemies do
Seeing you dance around saying the blights are zombi champions for the first half of the video was more interesting than the idea of the blights being zombie champions.
