- I am doing some final sound selections (with what's on the desk) for my upcoming Dune inspired album. I recorded myself overtone (throat) singing with the S-4's onboard microphone and looped it for drifting vocal textures.
For my album, I am seeking some core sounds to use across each piece for cohesiveness.
Lyra-8: Bass Drones, reedy highs
Enner: Electroacoustic textures, rhythmic pulses, wind, etc... (A true powerhouse of utility)
Cosmos: Drifting Atmospheres
S-4: Drone processor and effects
The next bigger series of videos will be sound design and selections for the SOMA Pipe, after it arrives. I have high hopes that it will be the exact instrument I am missing to begin the recording process.
This should feel somewhat mournful, mysterious, and perhaps uplifting in ways.
Deyr fé,
deyja frændur,
deyr sjálfur ið sama;
en orðstírr
deyr aldregi,
hveim er sér góðan getur.
Deyr fé,
deyja frændur,
deyr sjálfur ið sama.
Eg veit einn,
að aldrei deyr,
dómur um dauðan hvern.
Hávamál verse 76 & 77
this is extremely effective with with ethereal and liminal voices.
Hey LBZ,
I appreciate you watching!
I think leaning on vocal textures is gonna be a great addition for the sound selections. I should be able to do quite a bit with the S-4 and pipe combo.
Also managed to secure funding for a pulsar-23 which I'll be ordering here shortly :)
Awesome as always, lovely.
Thanks, Zepherus!
what a title
I m jealous
Thanks Drauglur! Good to see you again. I'm on a break from recording for a little bit, but am hoping to record some new pieces soon, just waiting on an instrument or two to ship out haha.
Very awesome!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
Great Abys! There are sounds that are halfway between human screams and tribal voices!
Hey Maurizio!
Thanks for watching!
Do you think the vocal sound design would be a good fit for a Dune 2 inspired cinematic album?
I am working on my sound selections. I plan on using the SOMA pipe to process my overtone singing to create leads and vocal style drones as a big portion of the album, but I am digging using the S-4 for processing my vocal recordings so far
@@AbyssalPantheon You're giving yourself a lot of work! I sometimes insert vocal parts when I want to create a greater connection, our unconscious recognizes "human" sounds as closer to us!
@mauriziofaggion Cinematic music and sound design is my job haha
All of these recent videos are explorations for particular sounds I want to use as the core sounds for the themed album I have planned.
Vocals and bass drones were going to be used heavily as the core of the sound design for each track. I'm working on some glacial and sandy textures using granular synthesis, and I'm waiting for the pipe to arrive so I can record more exploration sessions before I begin work on the album :)
@@AbyssalPantheonA nice original idea to make the search for textures your musical direction!
DUNE, check. Soma Labs instruments, check. Incorporated a t|so instrument, check. Old Norse poetry... hmm, I'd go Kalevala myself (sorry, Finn here). 😊 Lovely timbres, cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
The t|so S-4 is pretty great for textural work, and I think it will be a much more powerful unit after we get full midi implementation.
I have love for the Finns as well haha. I'm a Norse Pagan and the third generation in the US from Norway, so I stuck with what was familiar :)
I'm looking forward to recording this Dune inspired album! Please bear with me if my pipe pieces are rough while I'm learning lmao
