The bust of Cleopatra VII is often deemed unattractive by some, primarily due to its deviation from her romanticized portrayal as a legendary beauty. This view typically arises from the disparity between historical artifacts and their idealized representations in films and literature. In my view, the AI rendition of Cleopatra VII's bust alters this perception significantly.

If you look at her bust, the sculptor clearly made her shirt sheer. I noticed the AI did not have so much courage 😂
Patrician women of this era were known for preferring silk, in part specifically because it was sheer. Contemporary historians literally say it, lol

Some of these channels with AI trailers for example also have videos where they explain how they do what they do. Search on CZcams, "how to make AI trailers" or "how to make AI faces from bust" or something, you'll find things. Try Google if YT doesn't turn it up. I've watched a couple of these before. New tools are being released and refined all the time. They’re called “Afrocentrists”, and they seem to be mostly black Americans. Whites stole their culture when they were enslaved and they no longer remember it, so they want to reconstruct or replace their lost identity with something African. So far so good.
HOWEVER, when they looked at West Africa (where their enslaved ancestors mainly came from) they apparently didn’t find the history and culture of those areas impressive or inspiring enough.
Instead they want to claim Ancient Egypt as their cultural heritage, probably because it’s the most impressive bit of history in Africa. Ancient Egyptians, importantly, were also far more advanced and sophisticated than the ancestors of white Americans living in Europe at the time.
But this only works if the Egyptians were black, which they don’t really seem to have been for the most part, but Afrocentrists reject all evidence of this as whitewashing by white historians, which is when it becomes a conspiracy theory since it’s impossible to prove anyone wrong who’s going to claim all evidence against them has been forged.
For some Afrocentrists it’s also partly about getting back at the whites by erasing “white” history, which is why some of them not only claim Cleopatra and all the (Greek) Ptolemys as black, but also the Ancient Israelites, the rest of the Greeks, the Romans, and some even go as far as claiming Northern Europeans like the Vikings and Shakespeare as black etc, basically everyone was black before the slave trade started. Fighting whitewashing with blackwashing, essentially.
The Afrocentrists who go that far are probably pretty fringe, but the Cleopatra thing is really mainstream, common not only among Afrocentrists but among leftoids, and it’s actually quite understandable because she’s been portrayed as more dark skinned than she probably was for such a long time, and it’s also natural for people to assume that the Queen of Egypt was a native Egyptian, only history buffs are going to know that she was part of a foreign ruling elite that didn’t mix with the locals.

But Cleopatra was Greek. Why would she be black? Think of that family as conquerors. They were installed in Egypt when Alexander the Great conquered North Africa. The Ptolemies ended up ruling Egypt, but they weren't _from_ Egypt. They weren't from Africa _at all._ And yes, this means that Cleopatra probably did not resemble her own subjects very much. She did other things to endear herself to them, such as learning their language and respecting their religion, which was unheard of for royalty at the time. She spoke a bunch of languages actually, and was very accomplished. She was also ambitious. This is why Julius Caesar fell for her. He was known for being ambitious himself.
I mean, you can certainly design a version of a film or something where she's black, why not.... but that's historical fiction, not history. And I think it's really important to distinguish. Film adaptations of history historically do a terrible job of conveying actual information about history, and that isn't just true regarding Cleopatra, it applies to nearly ALL of history. I think the modern WW1/WW2 movies tend to be accurate historically, but outside of that it's a crapshoot, you really can't trust ANY of it.
If you want to look for a black skinned powerful empire from history, you have to check out Nubia and the Empire of Kush. They ruled most of Africa for a really, really long time, even taking over Egypt at one point. And they were powerful. Things only started going downhill for Africa generally once Christianity was brought in (~600 CE). Make of that what you will.
