One of the best reviews on both of these beauties I've seen! I was law enforcement for four decades in northern Calif. (now retired). I was a 1911 guy for years (own several Kimbers), but now I will not part with my 627 for anything as my EDC! Always reliable, 8 shots and with moon clips reloads are super fast. OWB carry works really nice and conceals well with a reasonable shirt or loose T-Shirt in warmer weather. Gun is super accurate and is gorgeous to look at due to nice design. The Performance Center (PC) extra care makes the action smoother than snot! This is the Rolls Royce of revolvers folks!

Spohr, and Korth are the Rolls Royce. Smith PC guns are hit and miss, with mostly a good Cadillac thing going on. Smith wheelguns don't even come close to Spohr, and Korth though.

Great look at these 2 Revolvers! I finally bought a 5 inch 629 44Mag and it was an Awesome Experience!
I think I like the Blood Work Revolver more because I like having a 3 or 4 inch barrel, or as close to it as possible.

The way you hold the revolver with the cylinder open is the same way I was taught in law enforcement back in the 70's. That is the correct way and I rarely see people hold their pistol that way.

I love my Smith and Wesson performance center 627. It was definitely worth the wait. I did replace the grips with a Hogue. I personally have big hands and like that I can grip pistol with full hand. The only bad thing I have found was the stock grips. My main purpose of my Blood Work 627, is for defense use in the urban jungle we live in today and on the trails. I live in the mountains and it's a peace of mind having it Incase I run into a mountain Lion, Bear, Coyote etc.. I know some may argue a 629 is better than the 627, but I beg to differ. My Grandfather who served on Omaha Beach in WW2 always carried and used a 22LR revolver. In his words, it's not the size that kills but a well placed round to the head. In the case of the 627, it's mostly lethal range of encounters is within 25 yards

Hey TheOl 1911, its been four years since you posted this video but it popped up on my CZcams as suggested content in 2022. I hope you are well and still making videos. I'm really attracted to the stainless revolver, probably due to its proportions. I wonder why S&W chose with the 327 to go with such a short barrel. If they used the same barrel length as on the "Bloodwork" revolver with a full ejector rod stroke I think it would work better and look better too.
When I want to carry something different from my past, I get out my 2.5 inch Model 19 and carry it. As soon as I put it on, I remember the early '80's when I was a young cop and it is a lot of fun. I still practice a lot with revolvers and think that for some people they can be the best choice. But you are correct that you have to commit to carrying one.
Remington used to make a 125 grain Golden Saber round that when introduced carried markings on the box as a "Medium Velocity" load, but that apparently hurt sales so they removed that from the box without changing the load. It gave about 1,250 fps from a 4-inch barrel, and about 1,150 from the snub barrel,. It expanded well from either barrel and penetrated almost perfectly from either of my revolvers. For no apparent reason Remington stopped making this load, but I got a full case of it and have hoarded it for my revolver. The load has similar power to a good hot 124 grain 9mm load from one of my compacts, which is fine for me, and has very manageable recoil. I wish they still made this load.

Nice pieces. I agree though, I went back to my 1911 for EDC. it just feels more comfortable for me and it has a lot more fire power by the number of rounds in the mag and the quickness to reload a mag. I also prefer the fluted cylinders. I chose the S&W 686 + Talo Deluxe with the fluted cylinder. It took me a while to find it because I want the 3" barrel so I would get a full length ejector rod. I am till searching n how to make the SS black. It is tricky, but it can be done. I have to find a reputable shop to do it. Do you still have your 586L ? I almost bought it. But her in CA there are some legal issues in having it. The store would have sold it tome as a single shot and then, after the purchase , I would change it back. The other thing was the front compensator on the barrel. When I saw you shooting it, I saw a good size flame coming out of the front compensator in the barrel.

What I found is even a cheap ankle holster works fine for this gun because it’s so lightweight, the eight round speed loader in my pocket is more annoying than the gun on my ankle. But to have 16 rd of 357 mag on you is pretty unbeatable. I work in the kitchen so I can’t really have it on my body, the ankle is not my first choice but at least this way I always have it with me

Is it normal for the bullets to feel kind of loose when loaded into the drum and shutting it close? Like, when I shake the gun the rattle by moving back and forth. Is that just how revolvers are? Revolvers actually can jam lol.. and can have a few other problems. No no platform is malfunction proof..

Was Bloodwork a good movie? I've never seen it, but I guess that's a redundant question since it has Clint Eastwood in it.

  • @konstantinostsaprazis3562

Im looking into purchasing a revolver in the near future....TheOl1911-->What would you recommend as a fairly priced starter revolver chambered in .45acp? I just recently got back into reloading my own ammo(mainly in .45acp) for the range.

    • @itmeng
      @itmeng Před 6 lety

konstantinos tsaprazis I think the smith and Wesson governor can shoot 45acp along with 45 colt and 410 shot shells. From what I recall it was fairly priced on the low end of smiths. Not sure what ruger has in 45, but they have good value.

The one I use to own (got rid of it) was the 325 Thunder Ranch and that was a great wheelie but... for me having to load up and unload moons got to me. But yes the Gov. can shoot 45acp. But The 625s are also nice 45acp revolvers.

When loading you hold the revolver the same as I do. I was trained by the FBI in the 70's apparently you have had LE training also. It's refreshing to see it done right.

Those who hate a 1911, have only ever had experience with cheap 1911s and garbage mags. Or have never even handled one at all and just listen to people complaining about the platform.
