It really shouldn’t be legal anywhere. If you put any form of poison in others food, that is definitely illegal most places. If someone is allergic and you do it anyway, it can be pretty much the same. Yeah, sometimes it may just lead to some scratching or an unpleasant toilet visit, but other times people may need to call an ambulance to save someone’s life. Anyone who doesn’t understand and respect this, should have a giant sign above their head, with the statement “I don’t respect allergies” written on it. That way, people with allergies know never to accept food from them.

My little revenge story was in the 90s. My best friend’s little sister wanted the Olympic Barbie for her 5th birthday. Her grandmother was a mean woman who enjoyed being petty to the kids and her daughter-in-law. So I anticipated her telling a 5 year old she couldn’t open and play with her Barbie because it’s a collector’s item. I bought 2 and wrapped them separately.
Sure enough as soon as the kid opens her present the grandmother tells her she has to put it away and not open it. I hand her the second one and she lit up seeing it. I told her one is to play with and the other to save.
Her grandmother was pissed and couldn’t say a word.

But never work outside of paid hours or regularly take on duties you are not compensated for. That is an all-too-common tactic for employers to commit wage theft. We only get so much time in this world - some of us get a lot less time - don't throw that away doing unpaid labor.

I hate attention seekers at events.
One of my friends had a party in her garden to celerate her engagement. She invited a few friends and family. She also got the visit of her upstairs neighbours, a couple who were a bit weird (pains in the butt more like), but whom she couldnt kick out because thet had a legal right of way into the garden (she didnt dare push too much. She's a bit non confrontational)
The neighbour woman was friendly enough, and I noticed that she mentionned to several people that she also got recently engaged to her partner. People congratulated her politely and moved on. She didnt seem satisfied and so at some point, she tapped on her glass dramatically, and announced loudly to everyone present (and already aware) that she, too, was going to get married.
Stunned silence. you could hear crickets.
I am socially inept and was served 3 glasses of very potent punch by that point, and exclaimed loud enough for everyone to hear "THIS AINT ABOUT YOU".
This was greeted with chuckles and the conversations resumed.
Neighbour left, visibly upset, but in everyone's indifference.
Later on, my friend told me that neighbour woman dared mention MY "outburst". I told her she has my blessings to blame it all on me (she had to live near the woman for a few more months before moving out, as pregnant and needed a home upgrade), but I will never apologise. Everyone else was pleased by my intervention though, it was the talk of the month among the family members apparently (whom I never even met again lol)
I saw her neighbour a few times after that on the street, she changed side on the road to avoid me. Good riddance.

The story about the spa gift certificate reminds me of my friend, let's call him Don. His wife had cheated on him with her ex-husband, and Don was devastated. During the divorce he let her take almost everything because he just wanted it over. In one of the few items he kept he found the concert tickets to a Peter Gabriel concert he'd given her for her birthday. When she called asking about them, he told her that she'd had access to get everything she'd wanted in the divorce and if she couldn't find them that was her problem. He and I really enjoyed that concert!

@@elieli2893 That's why it's not good. Means that
      1. the kid is the big sisters kid, not the mothers. Likely taken in by the mother as the big sister was way too young to raise their own
      2. it was had in an affair. Reason it could be "blamed" for a divorce (is proof of said affair - potentially from a test)
      3. if the big sister was too young at the moment she had an affair, it means her partner was her partner back then too. Meaning certain things (not generally considered socially acceptable) were going on.
There is an alternative, but that's only ***worse:***
The sisters partner (or the sister herself) was predating on the kid, this was found out, and the kid (hopefully) remained oblivious that anything bad was happening and likely not far from going so much worse (to the point it would have been impossible to remain oblivious)
That point 3 isn't mutually exclusive to the alternative, and in fact only makes it _more_ likely, makes things worse yet again D:

      Depends on context imo.
At a house party, shuffling seats as ppl leave theirs is acceptable. If it is something more like a movie-night or they are seated next to their partner, and all they did was get up to take out some drink from the fridge or quickly go to toilet, it is _not_ acceptable. If the reason they left was to help someone stuck further into the couch get _their_ drink, or worse, to help _you_ with something, stealing their seat is _unacceptable._
As for other contexts it all changes. They are a stranger at a restaurant going for a toilet break? Obviously unacceptable. and so on.
The context in question though, public chairs & benches at a beach? You are obviously losing the seat if you leave it, and, in fact, if you leave things on the bench to keep it as you swim _you_ are being the jerk. Or, well, it is sort of fine if that's _all_ you do - just expect your stuff to be moved somewhere when you come back, and don't dare complain someone touched your stuff (to move it) or deigned to move it at all. Though it could be fair to complain about stuff having been moved haphazardly to the ground. At least if there are cleaner places like rocks or roots or hanging stuff on branches is easy. That someone left something on a bench, is clearly an indication that they were hoping to keep the ground off of it if at all possible.

My petty revenge story was when I was sent to the emergency department when I had a rash in my throat. I normally don't tell anyone when I go to hospital that I used to be a medical doctor (there's a good reason -- quality of care often plummets if they know, but that's not relevant here). One of the nurses was trying to take blood from me and asked where they normally put IVs in me. I told him the back of my hand. He takes one look at it and says "No. Those veins aren't good." Like, why even ask me then? And he didn't even put the tourniquet on before deciding that - it's hard to predict which veins will 'pop out' when they engorge, so the fact he didn't even look to decide they were bad is... well, bad.
So, he sets up his equipment and drops the needle onto the floor. And instead of throwing it away and getting a new one, he decides it's still good, 5 second rule or something. He decides to go to my antecubital fossa (the front of the elbow area, where they normally take blood from -- which you'd normally try to avoid using for cannulae because you want to avoid causing scarring in case of future emergencies, and there's a tendency for IV lines to kink whenever anyone bends their arm). He misses the vein and instead of discarding the needle, re RE-USES the needle that was stuck into me. The lay person may not know, but you can't re-use the same needle even if it's the same patient. No matter how well you sterilize the skin, there's still the risk of introducing skin commensals into the blood and causing bacteraemia or sepsis. So then he says "You're skin's dark. It makes it harder to get the needle in." Which is BS, because sight is not the primary sense you use to locate an engorged vein -- it's touch.
The doctor finally comes in and she starts taking a history from me while the nurse is still digging around my arm. So I kinda act like the needle is hurting me a bit, interrupting my speech every few seconds. She tells him to stop and says she'll put the IV in herself, and that was my little petty revenge.
Side note, she puts the IV cannula in quickly, smoothly, on the first try without complaining about my skin colour.

I have a story for this subreddit that’s kinda dark. TW
Okay so my biological father was a predator and liked young girls going through puberty. He abused my older cousin who’s about 30-31 now when she was about 11 or so. She never told anyone for well over a decade and basically realised a petty revenge plan when I was born since I’m AFAB. She waited until I was about 6 then came out about it, the court proceedings and all took about 2 years and he was found guilty half a year before I entered puberty. No one told me what he did until I was like 11 ish but I remember being an 8 year old, nearly 9 and being told that I couldn’t see my father anymore because he did something bad. I remember the next time I saw her she seemed so smug.
*TL:DR bio dad was a pedo and abused cousin, she waited over a decade to put him in jail half a year before he could secretly abuse another a victim (me)*

Also makes me wonder if there was other victims in the interim.

    • @ConstantChaos1
      @ConstantChaos1 Před 4 měsíci +1

@snowangelnc as someone who was literally shot by my own father, stabbed by my mother, and sent to nearly 3 years of "conversion" "therapy"i understand that ones situation growing up can lead to problems standing up to authority figures, however that's called maladaptive coping. Instead of helping to resolve the problem, her reaction was to make things worse and increase the stress and emotional distress of the people she should be defending most fiercely. I can assure you that I haven't even brushed the surface of how thoroughly I learned not to trust authority figures and to cope around them but if anything that should just strengthen my point that the fact that she is or still is siding with her mom is a giant red flag.
I appreciate you trying to explain it to me (and recognizing that this is not an excuse for the actions) but what it seems people don't realize is that if she grew up in this situation, she failed a dozen score times before even reaching the setting of the story. Do you think I bring lgbtqia+ ppl to places my parents might be without warnings and steeling myself to fight them off? Absolutely not, and not just because I'm a recluse, lol. If you are a past victim of this sort of shit and you don't warn people beforehand and have a safeword to extricate yourselves you're in the wrong imo.
If you, by action or inaction, cause another person to be victimized with at least reasonable expectation that such an event might happen, you no longer get to claim to be a victim, you aren't a victim you are literally complicit then, you are one of the perps. Unresolved childhood trauma that isn't even being acknowledged let alone worked on that continues the cycle of abuse is such an astoundingly huge and unimaginably brightly colored red flag that I genuinely can't understand yall trying to act like it's any less of a red flag than "I am actively siding with my mother to emotionally abuse my own child just like she did to me and not even remotely try to defend my child or spouse" that is what she said there regardless of what happened in her childhood, she knows first hand how painful that abuse is (theoretically, so long as the mom didn't randomly start one day making this whole conversation is pointless lol) and yet she is again actively choosing to force it on her child and oppose the parental figure trying to prevent it.
She needs therapy and a lot of it (genuinely not like being sparky or an ass) if she thinks anything she did in this story doesn't make her clearly an unfit parent at least when her mother is around. As in if I was still active as a first responder and I had an address I'd be legally mandated to call CPS and potentially law enforcement (this legally is theft since it took place at the couples place if memory serves, the item was brought to their home and given (placed on their property and left unattended with gift packaging and labeling) of the hubby had asked (and not if the wife had asked not to that's not how that works there is a whole chapter on this lol)

10:40 I also felt bad for Lucy for less than a second when Click brought up that she was innocently caught in the crossfire, but that feeling immediately vanished when he called Todd immature, which he absolutely is. He's worse than a nine-year-old!
I usually despise messing with couples, but OP & Jim helped Lucy dodge a massive bullet there, we should all be happy for her!
Imagine if she accepted and got engaged to a 29-year-old Toddler! 😱
This was an absolutely genius play from OP. The only little mistake he made was to signal to Todd that he was in fact behind it all. Don't think I could've come up with sich a genius revenge, but if I did, I would leave Todd in the dark and deny any involvement in it, as to keep the relationship to my parents intact.
If he suspected me and questioned me, I'd act all surprised, like: "Oh, I had no idea you had an affair with one of my colleagues. I never thought you would do such a thing, I'm deeply disappointed!". That would both serve to remind the parents that it's "his fault" (told him I'd make him regret it) and make him even more angry! 😂
