Well Dave, in June 2021 I was situated good at that time I bought 2 of them. I got a gray market one and I purchased the second one off the NIKON site. Both were a nightmare in shipping. Took 2 days off work for D6 U know I had to be home to sign I lived with my 2 dogs only. I tell you they are the most beautiful things in the world. I slept with one so the first thing I saw was Inga (D6#2) it’s good I have the last DSLR’S
Think the Nikon D6 was the last pro DSLR appears from here on in that Nikon F6 was also the last Film camera before digital arrived. Nikon it appears will concentrate on the Z mount Mirrorless camera range. D780 shows more innovation than D6 just appears to have something out for the Olympics with tiny incremental changes with the D6 to stop pro users changing to other camera manufacturers and hold on to its user base.
Nikon D6 battery life is way superior and I bet the auto focusing beats canon as the D5 is way superior then the DX II, I also bet the noise signal ratio is better than Canon. 16 FPS against 14, betting also that when AF tracking reliability counts Nikon would do better or the same. Will see...
Ultimately I don't think the comparisons matter that much, Nikon users will stick with Nikon and Canon users with Canon. That said, on paper Canon have Nikon beat. Thank you for watching, have fun, Dave.

Personally, I would wait a couple of months and pick up a cheaper D5. Many of the D6 will be bought by photo agencies where the price is not the major concern. Thank you for watching, have fun, Dave.

@@ThePhotoShow Why Sony need Nikon? Nikon has no new tech, has no new tech, no profit. Most importantly Nikon has no vision. Their opticals can be worth something if 4 years before, and now Sony already has their lens planed out! Sony has established their leading position on mirrorless market. and I don't have any confidence on Nikon to make great mirrorless system in future either. Nikon used to making lots of equipment for science lab and medical research. and That devision is not part of camera devision. I am going to move to Fujifilm X and GFX system.
In the same way that BMW did not need to buy Rolls Royce. Buying Nikon would give Sony one of the biggest camera brand names and access to the extensive lens range. This is just my opinion, let's see what happens in the next couple of years.

If you are buying a camera now, which one will you choose D5 or D6?
