Thank you for this! I am an artist and I'm looking to learn a bit about photography so I can better help at my art studio. I have an old Canon that I bought 2nd hand so I can learn, but we have top notch cameras I can also play with at the studio. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Dear Dave, Excellent video, thank you. I have just bought my first camera (Canon M100). I haven't got a clue about manual photography and really want to get away from taking all of my photos with a phone. I am struggling with the connection between the focal length of the lense and the aperture size? why doesn't the size of the aperture affect the focus on the image sensor?
If I need to wait for episode 3 for the explanation, just tell me to shut up :)
    Jeff

Hi Jeff, that can get quite complicated but ultimately does not really affect the how the aperture operates. The aperture size can vary from lens to e.g. f8 on a wide angle lens can be a different size to f8 on a telephoto lens but the amount of light let through and depth of field effect would be the same. The aperture will affect the focus on the sensor but only in as much as the amount of the image that is in focus, depth of field. The next episode will be about aperture so I will do my best to explain it, hopefully without over complicating it! hank you for watching, stay safe, Dave.

Hi Jeff, it is a really good question, I may do an episode based on questioned asked and I will give it a go and see if I can break it down a bit better. Thanks again, Dave.
