    Dave when you explained what the exposure meter is for I was blown away. No one has ever explained that crucial detail to me and I have struggled so much in trying to understand how to go about making the proper adjustments to the settings. So, often I end up using Auto or a preset on my D7100, while desperately wanting to understand how to shoot in manual. Thank you sooo much for explaining how to utilize the exposure meter and for going through the examples in the garden. It made it all so much clearer in my mind. I've watched other CZcams courses, but was left confused/aggravated with all the numbers & terms. Not this time :) Finally I'm actually excited to go out and play with the different settings on my camera. I finally have enough understanding & confidence to go out and practice doing the same thing you did until it becomes common place. Thank you soooo much!!!

      Hi Shane, I am really pleased that the video was that helpful! My aim was to try and explain everything as simply as possible and avoid the confusing numbers. If you keep doing it, it will become second nature, like when you drive a car you don't have to think about what you're doing it just happens. Thank you for watching, stay safe, Dave.

    Thank you so much for the concise, simple way you explain things! I recently bought a Nikon Z50, and already, on video 5 of The Photo Show, I feel confident using my camera (I may actually know what I'm doing now). I will keep on watching and learning. Kudos!!

    Finally, your video brings a much better understanding of the importance of balance & the correlation between all 3 points of the exposure triangle. I especially like how there is no set answer! Thx so much!

    Hi David, thank you, very well explained, I would be the first to admit I haven't taken it all in yet, but that's the beauty of CZcams, I can watch it as many times as I like😁. Thanks again.

    Thank you for your very clear explanations and giving all these high quality informative videos free of charge.
    Can you please explain if there is any difference if we use the Exposure compensation button,
    or adjust the ISO, Shutter and Aperture manually. Thank you.

    • @ThePhotoShow
      @ThePhotoShow  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi DA, the exposure compensation will add or subtract one f-stop or shutter speed value. Best bet is to leave it alone and adjust the exposure manually. Thanks for watching, stay safe, Dave.

    Hey Dave, understanding the balance now, thank you, but in what type of scenario would you use manual mode? Just artistic preference? Are modern cameras pretty good at balancing on their own? For example if I use sport mode to will that be better than messing about manually if I want to capture a moving image? Maybe do a quick tutorial on pre sets?

    • @ThePhotoShow
      @ThePhotoShow  Před 3 lety

      Hi Timothy, you are right, modern cameras do a great job. The idea of using manual settings is that you learn exactly what the camera is doing with each change you make, this will give you control over your images rather than letting the camera decide. With the camera in sport mode all it is doing is limiting the camera to using a faster shutter speed and a higher iso, to freeze the action, it is not allowing you to try anything creative. Thank you for watching, stay safe, Dave.

    Hey, thank you for this video it was extremely easy to comprehend and I understood how to use my camera settings. I had a question, I am using Sony a6500 but I cannot find the exposure meter. Could you please help me out?

    • @ThePhotoShow
      @ThePhotoShow  Před 3 lety +1

      Not too sure with Sony cameras but if you are set on manual you should be albe to see an exposure meter in the viewfinder. Thank you for watching, stay safe, Dave.

    Hi Dave...I attended many tutorial online but not satisfied. But urs is simplistic and things are easy to understand.
    One question
    Iso should we use auto or manual on nikon.?

    • @ThePhotoShow
      @ThePhotoShow  Před 4 lety

      Hi Dhritiman, I am glad the tutorials are useful. I would always use manual ISO, it gives you more control over your images, if you allow the the camera to pick any of the settings you are not having full control. Thank you for watching, stay safe, Dave.
