I can't tell what's worse. The idea that we should be disgusted at the homless because they're "like animals", or the extremely prevalent idea that animals are bad/a nuisance/a problem just for, doing the smartest possible thing for survival and going to where the food is.
The lack of empathy for both human and animal worries me.
Humans are animals. I dont know why so many people do not know that.

@@ankebosing1968 it's because humans being animals means that humans are- at the most basic, fundamental levels- not special compared to animals.
More specifically, there's two varieties of why this is a problem to some people.
The first group are those for who it means "that they aren't any different than an animal," meaning they have to acknowledge that they do in fact have "gross" urges, but actively choose not to act on them.
In turn, this makes them upset because they've been socially conditioned to think that the definition of "being good/moral" is the lack of "bad/immoral" thoughts and urges; not the reality that "being good/moral" is choosing not to _act_ on those "bad/immoral" thoughts, and instead choosing to take "good/moral" actions.
Effectively, humans being animals means that they would have to admit that they aren't "good/moral" due to a lack of bad/immoral thoughts, urges, and feelings. Which would then either make them hate themself because of their hatred of bad/immoral things, and/or any religious or cultural guilt based manipulation that insists that having those urges/thoughts/feelings means they "must be evil because good people don't have/think those things"; or force them to confront the fact that their culture and/or religion has been manipulating them into compliance through guilt for an experience that is a natural occurrence. One that they have already 'made up for' by choosing not to act on those things, or at least trying not to act on them when they knew it would be harmful to others to act on.
The second kind are the ones that feel like being the same sort of being as other animals is an insult. They want to be 'special' in the sense that they feel being compared to other animals- even in the most generalized of ways- is a personal insult.

But far more of them die, due to natural threats (predators, climate), man made threats (cars, trains, fires, accidental poisoning), or human cruelty (people catching them just to torture them, humans setting traps that mutilate them, people kicking or throwing stuff at them, poisoning them, or trapping and euthanizing them.)
We treat the homeless like absolute shit, don't get me wrong, but the number of strays that are lucky enough to find homes is... extremely small. Especially when compared to the total number of strays that exist.

Because I’m adjacent to the community that does this:
-From what I’ve heard, most people who do that only deflate the tires, they aren’t slashed. So they just need to be pumped up again and there isn’t permanent damage.
-Their goal is to be as annoying as possible to SUV drivers to hopefully get them to buy a smaller car.
I do not think it is a good way to get people on board with the cause in any way, but I do understand why they are doing it in the first place

@@Kualinar I’m not excusing it, I’m letting people know what their argument is. Also, it’s done for multiple reasons, not just the carbon emissions, which is probably why electric ones are targeted as well. Reasons such as the cars being much more deadly based on their weight and front grill height, and taking up too much space in tight cities. Plus, electric cars are still damaging to the environment because their weight makes them require extra batteries, and the batteries have a long list of problems associated with their production. Again, this doesn’t make their actions correct, this is just the reasoning used for doing it

The bloat issue don't affect only SUVs. The height of the hood of pickup trucks have more than doubled over the last 30 years. For example, today Ford F-150 is about the size of the F-450 or F-550 from the 1990's... The Dodge Ram followed the same path.
I will say this and say it to the end. If someone says you can't hit a girl after they physically attack you first then you've gotta realize how bad that would work out in real life situations.

When people start twisting post-modernist concepts to justify doing or believing whatever they want it really grinds my gears. The idea of emotional labour as a concept is about all the extra work women have to put in during every day to day life among other adults that men aren't expected to, not TAKING CARE OF CHILDREN YOU WILLINGLY BROUGHT INTO YOUR OWN HOME ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME

Something that never ceases to disgust me is that some foster parents in the U.S. (I don't know how it works in other countries) take in kids purely for the government money. When I was in the process of adopting my daughter, I had to take a foster parenting class because I was technically a foster parent until the adoption was final. I was asking questions like, "Are there classes I can take to understand my daughter's disabilities better?" The woman next to me asked, "How many kids can I let share a room?" and "How much will I get paid for each kid?" I really, really hope she wasn't approved, but I kind of fear that she was. Yikes.

Taking in the money that's meant to go to the kids, using it on themselves, then barely providing the bare minimum. They are - that's the kind of direct action groups like extinction rebellion do. 'Environmentalists' are not a monolith and there is a lot of debate and different schools of thought within the movements on what kind of action works best and is justified. I am personally not a fan of what tyre extinguishers do but apparently there is some data showing that similar actions overall drive the sales down. Wouldn't be my choice of direct action strategy tho but it's just me.
And yes many people agree committing crimes for environmental action is justified - many rights such as women's suffrage were won by marginalized groups through non-violent direct action which was pubishable by law.
A little kid having a baby isn't really a laughing matter. That's something traumatic. Two generations of young girls getting pregnant is sad and hopefully, they have some support to help them through that. It's hard to protect your child when you are also a child. Regardless of the age of the other person, a 13 year old can't consent to sex. It's something that happened to her. If she is doing that, then she already was being robbed of her childhood and now, she can't hope to have much of a normal life. Let's not call children "trashy".

And it costs money to get the tires re-inflated that they could need for something else that is more important. The information they used was also not true. 70% of all global carbon emissions come from about 100 corporations, a majority of which are in the animal product business, so not individual cars (even if they are SUVs).

See involentary urination during weightlifting is actually a very common condition for women, and several elite female weightlifters suffer from the condition. Basically what happens is when they lift a heavy weight, they just lose all bladder control and piss themselves. I actually did get my Uber Eats stolen from me a couple months ago, the driver clearly got lost trying to find the entrance to my block of flats, and instead of calling me like every other driver does, he just left and I didn't get my food. I ended up getting a refund and trying again. Thank god it was a different driver that time and he got my food to me.
Yeah, my partner and I have been getting drivers like that through DoorDash, this past year.
As a foster kid I have been that kid way to many times “emotional labor”
Is anything a foster parent doesn’t want to do for a kid they took in, but Ooh it’s just heartwarming when it’s there own kid! Gods, I could tell you so many horrible homes I’ve been in! I’ve almost been killed a few times. If a foster family feels the need to broadcast how they treat there foster kid like they do there own kids or stress the fact that there a foster kid by saying “and this is my foster child” then it’s clear they don’t treat them like there other kids and no matter how much the Reassure you your part of the family it’s bullshit. The second they are tired of you or you don’t fit into there idea of a perfect child there going to give you back to DHS like your Christmas present that someone pretends to love only to return it first chance the get.
Can relate. When I was being fostered with my siblings we would be starved and abused so bad that picking through garbage for scraps was our best option… and then we’d be punished for digging through the trash.
We were kept on an enclosed patio with the trash bags from sunup to sundown without food, and the water spigot was hard to operate. I was the oldest there at the ripe old age of 7. My sisters were 4 and 3.
DHS took us from our mom because our dad accused her of abuse and neglect, so of course DHS took us and put us in a much worse situation. Our mom spanked us, but we at least had plenty to eat and proper shelter.
For some context about our dad: he absolutely beat the sh*t out of us and there was even one time that he dragged me out of my mom’s house by my broken arm.. that I got at his house and he didn’t do anything about… My mom took me to the hospital when she got us back from the weekend visit.
TL;DR:
I still haven’t heard of a single foster family that is in it to actually help kids and not for money or some sort of weird catholic karma thing.
The system is broken and it’s breaking kids, too.
I would gave major props to environmentalist that break into SUVs and instead of destroying tires or stuff, just rip out the engine and install a better engine for the environment and left a manual.

So a bit depressing story on the “daycare telling parents not to come in smelling of weed” topic. I taught a young toddlers room (7mo-1 year olds) and there was a little girl whose dad always came in like he’d just been hotboxing in the car before drop off/pick up. I literally called it out to the manager because i was worried about him smoking that heavily with her in the car- manager was a 50’s something white lady who probably wouldn’t know a blunt if she saw one, so nothing happened. Poor little girl would literally not eat anything but chocolate pudding… she was a princess in the most dysfunctional sad kind of way. 😬🙁
Under most circumstances I’d say leave pot smokers alone, but when kids are involved…
And if all she would eat was chocolate pudding, that’s probably all she was being fed at home.
I hope someone actually did something about this girl’s situation to make sure she wasn’t being neglected or exposed to carcinogenic smoke in her home.

Because app delivery peeps are CONSTANTLY dunked on, I want to potentially justify the fellow in the bathroom with the bag. Those are sealable heat bags, and when a driver arrives at a restaurant 9x/10 the food isn't even close to being ready so the ideal time to take a bathroom break is during that gap instead of delaying runs. Most of us who full-time this gig don't stop for breaks or lunch because minutes wasted result in missed runs and missed money.
Some dashers/drivers are wastes of skin who serially get fired because of negligence. But y'all really ought to tip those who follow your instructions to the letter, do the best they can to make good time, and let you know if something goes wrong at the restaurant. Imagine ordering from a sit-down restaurant that takes half an hour to prepare food, during rush hour, to your fourth-floor apartment, and the driver with a busted knee and agoraphobia only got two dollars out of it.

I’ve seen people use those before, the bottle opener is so that if a cop finds it in your car you can say it’s a bottle opener and not a seatbelt silencer. In regards to the "I can't do this emotional labor" one: that was actually a part of a much larger thread where the person talks not about not wanting to be there for your kids, but that when a child is adopted through foster to adopt, you are often getting children who need genuine metal heath professionals. No non-psychological professional should be doing that work, and especially not a person as close to someone as their parents. The reason therapy works is because the therapist isn't inside the situation. Please make sure the reddit posts are complete rather than having been cherry-picked to make these already struggling people look like bad parents. Thank you.

Regarding the 30yo grandma one - reminds me of a random I'd had for a novel. About a guy who wakes up from a coma to discover not only is he a father, but he's going to be a grandfather. How the foster system works, at least in the US, is that foster families are couples that work with the government to provide homes for children that (generally) have been removed from their homes by CPS due to neglect, abuse, or abandonment. This is someone who made a conscious decision to apply to be a foster parent, likely took training related to what would be expected, and is being *subsidized* by the government to care for vulnerable kids complaining that she doesn't have the sympathy or desire to help actual *abuse victims* deal with their trauma when it's part of her job.

I've had something like a relationship out of spite before. I got left by my partner four days beforehand, my new partner was left by their ex one day beforehand. We both knew this would never work out really, but for those few weeks it was kinda comforting to not think about my ex anymore. This new partner went back to their ex after a couple weeks, and I was neither surprised nor heartbroken. From someone who cleaned public bathrooms for several different jobs in several different states, I came to the conclusion that men a) do it on purpose or b) never had to clean up their own poo off of bathroom walls floors ceilings and toilets.
The "mop my pee of the floor" one was poorly worded and her expression doesn't help that but I've heard that it happens quite frequently that women can't hold it in anymore when lifting heavy weights so that's probably not her fault.

About the poop sign. I worked as a cleaner and was in charge of keeping a colonosopy office cleaned up. Now for those unaware they inflate your intestines to roto rooter up the pooter with the cameras. Well when you fill up the intestines you have to give the air back. That also means that any residual crap from the previous day not removed via the presurgery voiding tends to rocket out. On more than one occasion I had to scrape crap off a ceiling and walls because the pressure in which it shot out at was like a shotgun loaded withbirds hot, due to them bending over before sitting on the toilet. Then the nurses would just leave it for me to clean up. So yeah I can understand the sign just fine.
