    TrainerRoad has completely changed!
    What used to be just an app you used to train inside is now one of the most popular training systems for cyclists around the world.
    Why? Because it keeps improving all the time.
    Well, I’m told I only have 2 minutes, so let’s see how many updates we can cover:
    1. First, Adaptive Training
    It uses Machine Learning to analyze all of your rides and suggest changes to your training plan. No matter if you miss a workout, get sick, or change your schedule, it’ll adjust your plan every day to keep making you faster.
    2. AI FTP Detection
    Getting a result on an FTP test that truly reflects your abilities can be extremely difficult. We’ve trained our AI to recognize changes in FTP so you don’t have to do those complicated tests, and you don’t even have to do all out efforts for it to work. It’s super smart 🙂.
    3. Red Light Green Light
    This feature uses AI to recognize and prevent fatigue before it happens. It uses the principle of super-compensation to give you enough recovery after those hard group rides, solo big days, or races, letting you say “yes” to the fun stuff and know your training will still be on track.
    4. TrainNow
    This is a smart workout recommender for people that want appropriately challenging workouts, but don’t want the commitment of a training plan. Just open up TrainerRoad and get suggested workouts that are perfect for your current fitness.

    5. Outside Workouts
    You don’t have to be stuck inside. You can now do all your workouts outside on your favorite bike computer.
    6. Masters Training Plans
    These plans are limited to 2 days of intensity per week and are great for athletes with busy lives or those that can’t recover as quickly.
    7. Plan Builder
    Our automated training plan builder now lets you select how long you want your workouts to be for each day of the week, and if you want them to be inside or outside.
    8. Training Calendar
    You can add time off, illness, or other life events to your calendar and Adaptive Training will work around those for you.

    BUYER BEWARE:I tried the 30-day free trial…and immediately upgraded to the annual subscription. TR revolutionized my cycling❤

    somehow expected to get news on something really new. All what was presented is there already - partially a while, e.g. Masters Plan since December (?) 2023 ... Still love TR though, which turned my training upside down and gave it the needed adaptive structure.

      Yeah, I feel like this is a big hole in their application. When I had TR I always wished it also did running.

      Yeah, if TR could handle structured running I think it could replace Trainingpeaks at this point. They've had everything they need to do it since they implemented outdoor workouts.

      I would love TR to allow us to upload rowing activities into the app, they say they are working on this.

    Can vouch for TR. Relatively new cyclist here who started riding with much stronger friends.
    Almost 18 months on the platform and i've added nearly 100w to my FTP and no longer get dropped on the climbs.

    when ai ftp detection will work outside crappy app workouts? Was hoping for this when I renewed subscription after 30-day trial

    Allow me to build a sprint workout in TR and take it outside. Last time I tried doing that I couldn't. I don't have a rocker plate so I do all my sprint workouts outside to lock in good form and muscle memory (And I'd probably do the same if I had a rocker plate).

      All of your riding (inside/outside/structured/unstructured) is being used to adjust upcoming workouts with Red Light Green Light and Adaptive Training. All of that data is also being used to inform AI FTP Detection, so you'll get accurate FTP calculations even if you are just riding outside. Specific quantification of your unstructured rides for progression level updates is in the works.

      Yeah but not automatic like on rides done without a powermeter. I have to go in on the website to do it myself. It should atleast be a button in the app..

    anerobic work outs should be a power curve of a human (right half of a bell curve sort of, not just 600w for 30 seconds... that is not how the human body works). Or have users do a couple 20 second or 30 second max power repeats, have the AI map that person's power profile, then provide following workouts to stretch that curve wider (longer time), or higher (more watts).

      no it doesn’t. As a workaround, many modern devices running TrainerRoad can "stream", "mirror", or "cast" their display to an Apple TV device or Smart TV.

    plan trainer where you can input the time you have for each day... I asked for that like 1 or 2 years ago.
    I would like to be able to pick my week and have the plan built for that. For example 3 zone 2 workouts per week, 2 vo2 max per week, and 1 anerobic per week. Or 3 zone 2 workouts per week, 1 vo2, 1 anerobic, and one long group ride outside
    Trainerroad should looks at power profile during free rides outside and gives me points towards my different zones (endurance, sweetspot, threshold, vo2 etc).
    would like to download an outside ride (my laster years A race), and be able to do that workout on the trainer in erg mode.
    Anerobic (the human power profile is not flat at that level of power output... I got a great idea for that.
    Damn maybe you should just hire me...

      Some of this is already live.
      1. When you build a plan you can define the exact duration individually for each day, and Adaptive Training will use that to give you appropriately difficult workouts for those durations.
      2. If you follow a Masters Plan, this will get you close to the first structure and give you the second structure.
      3. Scheduling outdoor group rides or solo rides is possible now, but we have a team making this much easier in the Plan Builder process, and it will tie into Adaptive Training in a VERY cool way.
      4. We've been hard at work on quantifying unstructured rides to update Progression Levels. We've been internally testing a lot of different solutions and it's been tough to solve accurately. But it's fair to say this is one of our main priorities.
      5. The amount of requests for downloading an outside ride and creating a workout from it is very low, so we can't justify prioritizing that over other higher priorities.
      6. We've substantially expanded our library of endurance workouts to give athletes and Adaptive Training a massive amount of choices.

      In the past year alone we have shipped:
      1. All new cycling and triathlon training plans with updated periodization, improved progression, more specificity, improved tapers, improved run and swim workouts for tri plans, and more all based on data and athlete feedback.
      2. Masters Cycling and Triathlon Training Plans with optimized high:low intensity ratios
      3. Red Light Green Light (uses AI + Supercompensation to give you the recovery you need)
      4. TrainerRoad workouts on Hammerhead.
      5. Added hundreds of new workouts for inside and outside use.
      6. Custom Duration allows you to specify exactly how long you want to train for each day of the week and if you want to train inside or outside, and Adaptive Training uses that to give you appropriately difficult workouts at that duration for each day.
      7. Added personalized customer support with certified coaches.
      The premise of the video is what we've launched in the last 5 years, and I'd say our team has done an incredible job, particularly in the past year. Would love to have you give it a try once more!
