- Ironman Hamburg, Germany 2021 will be my first ever IM triathlon event - It's booked, the hotels booked, the flights are booked. Now just need to get the training done. Starting afresh with my TRAINERROAD plan now that I have this set goal in place.

Mark hooked on your vids great work, swimming you don’t need anymore fitness technique ,technique is the key to big gains .although maybe Ironman has now lost you to highrox keep the great work
This training is a full time job. Oh my.
Hamburg looks awesome. Definitely one I'd like to do in future.
Best tip I had was to do a 10 minute run and 10 minute bike the day before just to keep the neural pathways sharp ahead of tomorrow.
Stay hydrated chap, headaches are my nemesis :(
Don't beat yourself over the swim, loads of time to do the swim work, slow and steady.
@@MarkLewisfitness all been there Mark, I've had time from the water since March, I wondered how the hell I did the Ironman swim when I was in the ocean last week
i worked at 3 of the bolton iron man events, it starts at pennington flash which is a lovely place, it's not the most picturesque ironman in the world but i wouldnt write it off

Trainerroad and their plans are great. But might be to heavy on intensity sometimes so when in doubt decrease/skip intensity rather than increase/add :) Especially that FTP as a metric hasnt got much to do with the physiological thresholds which are slightly lower in most cases. You TET western videos have inspired me to try it next year.
@@MarkLewisfitness Thanks. I do planted tanks for a living. TR times gave me best times then all went downhill with professional coaches :) I slightly modified run intensities and followed swimsmooth swim plan. TR overall schedule though. Did IM Wales 2017 as a first (well and only so far) Elements an adventure of its own.
Hey Mark, as someone who's going through a similar journey although on a slightly less serious level I really enjoy the vids. The only complaint I have is that the audio (your voice) is sometimes noticably quieter than the rest of the audio. Would you consider getting a mike for the interior shots?

What happened to the Ironman training?
I have considered doing an Ironman although I'm nowhere close to being ready. My concern is how does someone deal with or get past the fear of sharks because that in itself would be enough for me to just decline doing an Ironman in the first place
If you’re swimming in a race the chances of you being attacked by a shark are so small they’re incomprehensible. Or you could swim in fresh water. Or a pool.
This is all sounding very complicated.
Don’t mention the war
They spank your ass do Ironman , the outlaw series or lakesman are a lot cheaper
Hi mark. Enjoy all your stuff. Just curious why you decided not to pursue the Ironman. I know you hate swimming. Was the the main reason?
They cancelled my event during covid and kept the money. Scum bag company.
