I really enjoy Aleks' videos. He does such a great job and has a calming voice. Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoy my creations! -Aleks
He sounds like Christian Bale.
What a fascinating place. I’ve never heard of either fort, and I’ve spent a fair amount of time in south east Louisiana. It’s a shame that they’re virtually lost to history and slowly being reclaimed by nature. Great film!
Alex; you're a fabulous tour guide.
Small town monsters has become one of life's 5 great mysteries. Who built the pyramids, what happened to the aztecs, who shot jfk, area 51, and STM being at sub 180k.
There is no other channel on CZcams that puts out better produced, directed and top notch full-length content than STM does.. content if you asked me that should be in movie theaters it's so well documented and produced. Not to mention the amount of content blows anybody and everybody out of the water on YT. how you're not at 10 million subs is beyond me let alone stagnant at 180k. It is absolutely mind boggling to me..
Agreed!
This new series is amazing, Great job Aleks!
Very interesting documentary. Love to see the real history of past times that really should be preserved not trashed & forgotten 😢 Thanks for the great tour 👍🏻🙋🏼♀️
Nice job! Great history lesson and I love the drone footage, it helps to see the layout of the land in question and puts everything in perspective.
I love the profile picture & I agree about the drone footage.
Thank you for covering the Mississippi River. Now you need to go to the Upper Mississippi from Wood River up to Lacrosse Wis. When you see all the bluffs and small cave systems, y'all would be amazed. I truly think it's the Big Fellas migration routes or one of many. Looking forward to the show, y'all do great work.
Loving these strange places docs! Hits both my history buff and All Things Weird buttons. Nicely done. Thanks!
Agreed. It's a cool series.
I find it interesting that the "tour guide" for the fort ruins corrected himself and referred to the Civil War as "the war" and then later used "The South" and "we" interchangably. Those roots still run deep.
He's a gentleman. ❤
"The Waw of Nauthern Aggreshion"
@@NONANTIHeard that before, elsewhere. Did the tour guide say it?
The "correction" you're talking about sounds more like him stuttering a bit (what bad thing would it mean anyway?), and as far as him referring to the south as "we," he lives in the south. When people living in the United States refer to the United States, they routinely do the exact same thing and refer to it as "we," regardless of the context. Everyone does that everywhere. I can be talking about something horrific thing the US has done- "Oh yeah, the Iraq war was terrible, we feigned the threat of WMD's to sway the public into supporting an unjust war in which we killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis." I might say, "we," but it's because I am placed geographically with those whose actions I'm describing, not because I identify with those behind the Iraq war. I would resent anyone who tried to accuse me of that based on my language. I know what you're implying here, and you're doing the same thing to this man who you know nothing about. It's extremely judgemental and presumptuous. Why not just say what you mean?
Excellent video! I love history of any kind, but I am very partial to American history and history of technology. This was great to go on a tour of these two forts on the Mississippi. Thank you so much! 😊💖🙏🏻
as a spanishman myself, the miserable state of Fuerte San Felipe brings a tear to my eye. Loving this channel. Good work, as always.
Nice one lad, yet another authentic Petakov production. Great camera work and epic soundtrack, all history lessons should be like this. Mind boggles as to where we'll be for the next one.
I must be a history nerd too because I found this fascinating.
So interesting, in fact, that I looked up the Battle of New Orleans and found that after the British lost the battle they fired on Fort St. Phillip as they retreated down the river. The Americans, however, had previously reinforced the fort and, expecting an attack by the British, were prepared. The attack, while unsuccessful, distracted Jackson and his men enough to allow the British to float past the fort and to reach their ship.
To me, this explains why the second fort was built across the river, and why it was named Fort Jackson.
Interesting bit of history. Thanks. Jan
Interesting!
Thank you for this historical adventure!
Aleks man just want to say i’n huge fan of your work. I have watched everything you’ve done including back to your other channel. You’ve grown in your pursuit of the unknown and it’s a joy to see. Thanks for everything you do.
Awesome man I appreciate you following along Lucas, it’s certainly been a wild ride and will continue to be so! All the best. -Aleks
Thank you for posting...
Thanks for checking it out!
LOVED THIS! Thank You! Most Excellent.
Very cool, I dig history a lot. The drone takes such good smooth footage. Nice Aleks
Definitely a useful tool! Thanks for checking it out. -Aleks
Fascinating video! Absolutely stunning, really! Im from England but find American history very intriguing. My relative on my late fathers side ran away to America and joined a gang in the Wild West called "The Hole in The Wall Gang," and they ran with Billy The Kid! I love your work. ❤
Cool Documentary Alek … very interesting, so sad, upsetting about the vandalism and other stuff… thanks for sharing this…
Mississippi River...too thick to drink, too thin to plow. -Twain
Great quote!
@@SmallTownMonsters Twain knew the river well.
Aleks! This was fantastic! I love it. I'm going to watch all of these
Excellent video
We have the same style of fort in England on the river Medway in Kent, very strange and haunted places.
These are such historic places and to see them being left to rot is a real shame. Why can't they at least be restored and preserved for future generations ?
It's shame but often is the case with historical places it seems. Thanks for checking out the video! -Aleks
Great history lesson. Very interesting!
Great video Aleks, as an American history guy, I never knew about these Forts or Battles. I somewhat remember the Civil War Battle, but forgot it. Good stuff man.
Appreciate the comment man, glad you found it informative! -Aleks
@@SmallTownMonsters You have a great narrator voice man. Great aesthetic music too.
Another great series Aleks. If you are looking beyond North America, can I recommend that you visit the Woodbridge area of Suffolk in England. You will find Rendlesham Forest, Sutton Hoo, Orford Ness, Bawdsey Manor and Shingle Street all within a few miles of each other. They all have fascinating histories and more than their fair share of strangeness!
Hi Aleks, loving strange places, very informative, all the best Lee
Thanks Lee, appreciate the comment and glad you enjoyed it! -Aleks
👋Alek, beautiful drone footage and well presented in reference to historical information, up and close💯👍 more than likely will probably watch again, great content🥰
👋💚 I'm looking forward to watching💯👍
Beautiful. Well done Aleks. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it Scott! -Aleks
Cant wait to watch it
LOL, I saw that episode. What a cool place.
Jumping into this right now Aleks, love this series.
Thanks for checking it out Charlotte! -Aleks
Nice historical account. Great narrating voice!
He does a great job, especially with the narration, research and his voice is perfect for this!
Amazing, park service needs to save it.
Oh wow, I'm glad you're doing the Mississippi. My grandpa left home during The Depression and rode the rails. These men were called hobos. He grew up in southern Missouri & knew the woods like the back of his hand. He wasn't superstitious and never mentioned Bigfoot or any other creature. However, one day out of the blue, far, far away from the Mississippi River, he said to me to never camp along the Mississippi because there were "bad" men who lived along it. I have no idea what area exactly. It was just an out of the blue. I wish I could ask him now about it.
thanks alex
War of 1812, fort york, or Toronto, Canada. Powder bunker explosion killed, maimed many early u.s. marines an British soldiers, during an attack on Canada. Everyone stopped keeping all their powder in one place. Great show! Thanks
Indiana Petakov! ;) Thanks for the adventure!
Plenty more adventures coming! Appreciate the comment 😁 -Aleks
I'm glad your getting away from the Bigfoot thing! This kind of video is what I love! History!
Looks very cool. Got it flagged to join.
Enjoyed it so much. Sad that the 2 majestic forts are long forgotten and not in great condition.
"TP 23" is what the graffiti reads in the small bunker 38 min, for those wondering. Likely "2023" I am guessing? They forgot their "M"s and their "C"s , I guess? Easy way? ENIGMAS album is MCMXC , aD. And that is 1990.
If weren't forced to fund endless unwinnable wars then we could restore these great monuments to history.
Great vlog, not so spooky, but covers some very important periods in American history. Thanks for covering this. Enjoying this series. Keep on keeping on!
Thanks for checking it out, the point wasn't to be spooky with it, just to showcase these places with some forgotten and unusual history. -Aleks
Thanks
Thanks i never heard anything about these fort alot of history sad to see it going to waste this vedio was every interesting
I would be afraid of my drone falling into the river
I came here about a year ago. I wanted so badly to go inside!
It's really sad to see history waste away like that!
True!! It's typical unfortunately however.
I'm convinced the tour guide was Woody Harrelson in prosthetic makeup.
Hi I grew up in Minnesota near Mississippi River. My father heard stories stories about creatures like Bigfoot in that area too
Napoleon had a cold hand! Poor guy!
Amazing how many leaders past and present suffer with the dreaded cold hand.
"People really suck" sadly that is very true. Hopefully you can visit Fort St Philip next January, it would be nice to see some video of it or maybe they would allow you to fly a drone down low around the fort. The fema doc I saw said it now floods since the earthen dam was breached.
I wish someone would come to my house and do some investigating strange things be happening that I can't explain
What state are you in

The little bunkers most likely is where they stored the black powder. They stored it away from the fort, in case it were to ignite, it would be far enough away not to harm the fort.
That makes a lot of sense! Thanks for sharing that Ken. -Aleks
Agreed. "Powder Magazines" most likely.
41:55 I would guess small arms ammunition?
I have to wonder why FEMA spent any money there other than the typical fleecing that takes place after a natural disaster…
I think I read somewhere it had to do with ammunition storage but I wasn't able to confirm it at the time. -Aleks
What you think is bunkers were power magazines. There were cannons between the magazines. There were on both sides of the fort Pryor to the Spanish American War (Edcot Period).
Creepy bunkers. As you were entering, I just thought of a skin walker..yikes!😳
In the uk this would be protected. Do you not do that in the States?
Nobody gives a 💩 here, Americans are to busy looking at facebook and shopping at the mall while eating tons of fast food…🙄🤷♂️
The cattle were to feed the Skunk Ape 😂
wall dun did not know so thank you for the down load
40:58: Spectral voice??
It was just me coughing because of the damp and unpleasant smell in there. -Aleks

Although Alex puts together great projects, this one didnt feel like a good place for the strange places theme. It felt more like a history lesson. I do love me some Alex though! ❤
I would disagree as Strange Places as a series encapsulates mysterious regions, forgotten history and abandoned locations, which can go in a lot of directions, so I found it was very fitting. -Aleks
Fantastic content.
🩷love the vid
Alek I love your videos but please don’t be upset but I like it when you’re in the woods looking for Sasquatch better. ???
I find the history interesting, but there was nothing strange about either of the forts. Old does not equal strange.
Thanks for checking it out but I disagree. In the case of Fort Saint Philip it's one of the oldest continuously used forts in North America and was basically used up until the 1980's, last used by that "cult" group, as stated in the film. Now both forts are basically being forgotten. My series "Strange Places" covers various aspects of forgotten history, abandoned locations and mysterious regions...that encompasses a lot of things. -Aleks
@@SmallTownMonsters, please understand that I am a fan of the channel. In this instance, we disagree about the "strangeness" of these sites. I still enjoyed the video from a history perspective. Keep up the good work, sir.
@@christophercrowder872 Agree to disagree but ultimately it's my creative endeavor and I get to decide what I want to include under the "Strange Places" category. -Aleks
@@SmallTownMonsters, if I truly offended, I.apologize. That was not my intention.
