- After about 45 days of waiting, the smallest gecko species that I care for have finally hatched. The Cameroon Dwarf gecko(Lygodactylus conraui) hatchlings are only about 1 inch long included the tail when they hatch. This is how I care for them while they grow to be juveniles.

I just bought some of those. Can't wait to put them in my setup.
They are cool little geckos. Very active and always on display.
Hello! Do you know if females show any coloration on their bellies? I have been given a “pair” and one is definitely brown with stripes/dots on top but has a very colorful lower belly and tail.
Just curious to see if I in fact have a pair or Cameroon dwarf geckos at all.
Hi There,
Mine don't show any real coloration on the bellies, at least nothing notable. They are more brown with a pair of faint blue stripes and kind of speckled. while the male is yellow and blue, most of the time. He does fire down at times and closely resembles the females. If you want look me up on IG or FB and shoot me a message with pictures of your geckos. I can take a look and can hopefully help.
Hi Pat, I have a question : when do the juveniles change color? I received my geckos and I am wondering if they're female or juvenile.
Usually close to a year when they start to mature. Though males will often mature a bit earlier than the females. My females have pretty much kept their baby/juvenile colors and the male will fire up and down. When he is fired down he looks just like the females.
Thank you so much for your fast response. I believe that two of the ones I got lost their tails before (looks just like a lizard when they do so. Different pattern and scales don't match) how do you assure they eat? I will try pangea and tong feeding (they came for the box of fruit Flys and are super curious. Jumped on my hand etc. What makes me super excited since I am a teacher and my kids at school love them already. I'm going to put a Webcam up so they can watch them at any time. (I don't keep them at school, but got them delivered to school and the kids helped create the bioactive terrarium)
@@AMcQ-up7em As far as eating I very rarely see mine eat the paste but I always keep some in there on a ledge. Mine do however hunt down the fruit flies quite ferociously. Even the babies a few days after hatching will hunt and chase down melonogaster fruit frlies.
I think the webcam for the kids is a great idea. Turning the bioactive setup into a learning experience is great and something I am sure the kids will remember into adulthood.
I have babies!
Looking to get into the hobby. And I’m going to start off with two geckos. The first being a chameleon gecko. Any suggestions for another small gecko that will fit in an 8x8x12 or a 12x12x18 exo terra for my second species. ?
Welcome to the addiction. Not much will do well in the 8x8x12 as adults but the 12 x 12 x 18 would house a few different species as adults. One being the cameroon dwarf geckos. Many of the smaller day geckos can be kept in those size, they would benefit from a larger enclosure due to their activity level.
@@PatsCreatureCave Are Cameroon dwarf geckos easy to care for and are they expensive?
@finndrennan541 they are very easy to care for. Tropical setup, live plants, uvb 5.0 t5 ho. I feed hydei fruit flies and gecko paste. Give them a quick spray every morning. My setup I don't use a basking lamp because the t5ho uvb creates a nice warm spot at the top of the enclosure along with the led plant lights. Currently, there is a big mix of wild caught and captive bred in the hobby, but they are usually about 50 bucks each.
@@PatsCreatureCave sorry to bother again. Is there care the same/similar to chameleon geckos so ?
@finndrennan541 I would say similar but they do need a basking spot and uvb. Where the chameleon geckos do not need a basking spot. Using t5ho uvbs can create a good warm spot that can work for basking.
