Thank you for showing this slowly. I couldn't figure out how to get the yarn from the back (knit) to the front (purl) before finishing a stitch. I kept ending up with globs of yarn instead of clean stitches. Thanks to this video of yours I can see -and understand- how to properly do it. Thank you.

Aaah, the mistake I was making was not bringing the working yarn to the front before my purl and I was getting into a right state when it came to the next row! Thanks for the simple explanation/demonstration

@@maygungreer1395 absolutely crucial. It will change what the stitch will look like. If you just knit, it will create the garter stitch.

I am trying a dishcloth that is Knit one purl one.I never end up with the 45 stitches that I started with or there is a dropped stitch somewhere in it I start with

With a 45 stitch count but I always on the second row have a count of 46.I am extremely careful and I do slow down quite a bit..If I get past with 45Like knitting the last two stitches on my needle togetherI can continue my pattern of the character on my dishcloth and it works out but the frame of knit one purl one doesn't always start or end on the knit 1.

This is the right way to do a knit stitch, but this is not the right way to do a purl stitch.
