  • HOW TO SWITCH BETWEEN KNIT AND PURL STITCHES | Want to learn how to knit and purl in the same row? It's easy! This video shows you how to switch between knitting and purl stitches. I knit continental style, but switching between knits and purls is no different in any knitting style. It's just how I hold my knitting needles.

    For beginner videos like this, it would be good if you can slow down the speed of your demonstrations, as I’ve seen in other beginner videos (other CZcamsrs). I need to play them at 0.75x speed to see and understand it. Thanks for the videos :)

      Hi Anna, thank you so much for your feedback. I'll slow down on future videos. 😀

      Under settings you can adjust the play back speed.

    Thank you for this tutorial. I am ready to learn your technique and try it out. I love seed stitch but have always used the "throw" method which is a bit of a pain. :) Great videos!

    when i did this i wound up with the yarn making a cross, like a twisted bit of yarn in front? not sure if that makes sense.

      Hi Panda Power, I think I know what is happening here. When you switch between knitting and purling be sure that the yarn is in the correct position before working the stitch. If you are purling, the yarn needs to be in the front. If you are knitting, the yarn needs to be in the back. Let me know if that helps! 😀

    i'm not doing alternating stitches i'm doing alternating rows, my question is do i keep the entire row the same or should the edges (first and last stitch) be a knit? - Row 1 Knit - Row 2 Purl, alternating that way. I'm just not sure if when i get to my purl rows if i should start with a single knit then do the full row of purl and end with a single knit.. or just do all of it as purl

    • @loupgarou95
      @loupgarou95 Před 5 měsíci

      The entire row is purling in that case. If you want to add on additional selvedge edge stitches, feel free to do so. But a knit edge stitch is not automatically included on purl rows unless a pattern explicitly tells you to do one.

    I've been doing this, but my purl stitch looks like a regular knit? What am I doing wrong?

    • @nobleknits
      @nobleknits  Před 4 lety

      Hi 99% Unicorn, When you purl, the yarn should be in the Front of your work and you insert the needle from Back to Front. Then you wrap the yarn around the Front needle counterclockwise. That should create the purl bump.

      @blueismylove3128 Před 4 lety +2

      @@nobleknits Haha, thanks but that's not what was wrong. I figured it out a while ago and I wasn't purling into the knits and knitting into the purls if that makes sense, that's why my pattern wasn't showing. Thank you for getting back to me though.

    I wish people would post in the title which style of knitting they use, so you don't waste all this time watching videos that don't help unless you're a continental knittet.

    You clearly have a handle on holding your knitting and manipulating between knit stitches and purl. I don’t hold my yarn in my left hand, so this looks really hard. I need to slow this down somehow to be able to learn the left hand hold and also see you take the yarn back and to the front! Way too fast.

    For beginners,it s too fast to catch .thks anyway.
