Trading my GT in for an RT in two weeks. The GT was a wonderful suv for the past two years. But I NEED that hemi.

How do you like the RT?
@@lowKut Just had the two year anniversary of my black RT. Really, really glad I bought it. Even after two years, it still puts a smile on my face when I drive it. The only negative is the city mileage. The GT's pentastar v6 was extremely efficient. Got almost 26 mpg on road trips and 20mpg in city driving.
The RT gets a respectable 23.5mpg for road trips, but around 12mpg in city driving.
Thankfully I don't do much city driving :) But that's literally my only negative. Very glad I picked up the RT.

Dude! Definitely the best review done on a Durango RT on all of CZcams. I’ve made up my mind on the Durango.
Always liked to look of these. Would like to get into one in a year or two. Hopefully production picks up. New models are sparse in Texas. AWD V8 SUV’s are a lot of fun.

At the 5:35 mark, notice the tire pressure of 44 PSI . The Jefferson North plant ships all Bridgestone Ecopia 265mm tires inflated to 44 PSI. Those are used on the Durango and Grand Cherokee trims with the 5.7 Hemi. But the dealerships are REQUIRED to set the tire pressure to 36 PSI as part of prep before the car can be driven in traffic. Otherwise, it's a liability issue because braking distance is compromised with the tires overinflated.

I was looking at the RT and explorer ST for options for when we move to the snow, after hearing about tons of issues with the Ford I’m steering towards the Durango.
Trust me, you made a wise decision from an owner of a 2016 Model. Mines is 4wd as it has a true low range two speed transfer case unlike other so called awd crossovers. Better towing, better third row which you will appreciate if you ever need to move adults in a pinch.

Did you try sitting in 3rd row. There's enough room for a full size adult, compared to highlander ,cx9, explorer. Try it.
I think it will be more aggressive on a 2024 Dodge Durango probably a full redesign similar but more angular.

Hey Ben, been going back and forth on dodge Durango rt and the explorer st what are the pros and cons of each vehicle and in your opinion is the better choice?
The 88 MPH "highest speed" is the result of testing when the Durango rolled off the assembly line. The Durangos and Grand Cherokees are put through paces before being shipped. The instrument cluster is set to "dealer mode" at the Jefferson North plant. Just before delivery to the customer, the instrument cluster receives a reset, which erases all data gathered during "dealer mode". All the pre-delivery performance statistics... even all the "learned" throttle behaviors are "forgotten" (via the reset) just before delivery to the customer.
so is there any way to remove it?

I'm 6'2" and leg room in the 3rd row is not an issue in the Durango. It has the best legroom amongst it's peers.
You arent 6’3 if you think the 3rd row has good legroom.

Does the sunroof come standard with the RT AWD Tow and Go package or do you have to add that?
I have 2 RT rangos and ill never own another suv. Cant wait for the new body style. Have you tested the RT in sport mode? Makes a big difference. I also installed the peddle commander and it's night and day.

I think that if you add the Tow-n-Go package, the RT is definitely a better buy than the Explorer ST, even though the ST is faster off the lot.
Explorer isn’t faster off the lot. You can watch drag after drag, and the Rango is the consistent winner. Just picked up this exact 2021 a few weeks ago, and I am very pleased!! Love it!
@@dianaprince2543 what? The Durango R/T is good for 6.2 seconds 0-60 according to C&D, while they got the Explorer ST to 60 in 5.2 seconds.

@@dianaprince2543 yes Explorer st is faster off the lot. 400hp/415tq for explorer to 360hp/390tq Durango. Plus Durango is 500 lbs heavier

The main thing that sold the rt over the st was that the explorer has so much plastic on the outside compared to the Durango

Hi..im disapointed about my 2021 rt theres no sunroof and the salesman didnt told me about the tow n go packages.and theres brembo break..i pay like 80k canadian dollar..i bought it brandnew last march 2022

Already watering down the Durango hellcat. Won’t be long before you see V6 trims with all the appearance packages of the SRT models.

I have a 2020 GT fully loaded it was 62k. I want to trade it so bad for a rt that I regret not buying. I think it would be stupid though because mine runs good has no issues and there’s a speed limit on every road. I’m worried I’ll get one with a bunch of tech issues or something stupid. If I get something new I’ll just add a challenger 392 or a shakedown if I can get my hands on one.

What is the huge difference in the RT and the SRT?
The engine. RT is 5.7 L Hemi, SRT is 6.4
6:30 headrest fold, just in case u got to knock out ur passenger in the back

Just bought a 2020 Durango RT Blacktop with Demonic Red Leather. Love the interior refresh for 2021 but similarly trimmed 2021 was going to be easily $15k more.
I was shopping the Explorer ST too but there are just way too many horror stories on quality control. Random electrical issues preventing starting up, transmission bugs, interior rattles, etc etc. Not to mention ~$10k more. FCA doesn't have the best rep for reliability but the Durango RT "common" issues are relatively quick fixes under warranty.
My $.02: MOST people think they'll care about the extra HP and fancy interior but IMO, most places you drive won't let you use the extra HP, and the sound of that Hemi + badass exterior styling will outlive "bigger touch screen" and "modern air vents".
They still didn't update the seats, they need more bolstering .....
@Ben Hardy, do you know if I can get a grand Cherokee 5.7 V8 without it being 4x4. Because I know that on the window stickers it says stuff can be replaced with original equipment. I was just wondering since off roading isn’t really my cup of tea but the grand Cherokee are beautiful IMO.

Just picked up a 21 R/T with the Tow & Go package. I also test drove the Ford ST. Too much wind noise and I much prefer the Hemi.

No the ST is better but the R/T (if you don't look at the ST radio!), however ST also 7k more than the R/T so if you really want better than ST just spend 10k more and get the Durango SRT.
The ST is a POS. Couldn’t wait to get out of that thing.

Kind of deceiving to only say that this model the Black Top Package. The Durango in this video has all the options included. The price with all of that is probably around $60k which is SRT territory.

this is a SERIOUSLY nice SUV...been trying to find a "cool" tow vehicle that's not a blue collar pick up truck POS on wheels..... I love how this thing is sleek but is also setup for proper towing...
This video is a bit frenetic. Could have slowed it down a bit. Remember, you can't just pause a video and checkout the screen like in the old days. The screen will either dim, dim and pop up a bunch of options or show an ad.
So the days of rushing thru thinking people can just pause it to examine something are over.
For instance, when rushing through the steering wheel features, he failed to note that it has a FLAT bottom wheel. This is not very standard. Some people will love it, some people will hate it, with those in between that just don't care.
An inaccuracy here also. He says that you get the Low Range 4WD button because it is an R/T. That is not correct.
This vehicle has the Low Range button because it has the TOW PACKAGE. That is not part of the R/T package, at least not in the specs.

The interior/exterior refresh was needed. But they should've increased the HP on that 5.7. Its been 360HP since 2011.
I agree. I can’t wait to see what the all new design will be. I wonder when that’ll be. And they should’ve made the horsepower 395 like the RAM’s Hemi.
