Love that Palm Trees and a Tropical Breeze. I wish I could have picked up Lot 40 18 year old, but I'll just enjoy through your comments!

Banana Runts candy (similar to the banana mallows) was the first note we picked out on the nose! That's what led us to put this whisky into a rum barrel!

    For context:
Downriver Rye is 80/20 rye and barley. Batch 1 is non-chill filtered. Batch 3 is chill filtered.
Downriver Corn is 80/20 corn and barley. Batch 1 is non-chill filtered.
Moving forward I believe they’ll be keep both non-chill filtered. No coloring.
I love their whisky. The spirit is very fresh and sweet on both releases.
Huge Banana Bread notes on the rye with some nice spices that fade on the finish while the sweetness lingers. There is a sour/bitter note that fits really well.
Still dialing in my notes on the corn whisky. I found the rye took a bit to open up in the bottle while the corn was ready to go from the start.
Very happy to see a review on their products as I’ve only seen one other review.

I should also note the oak is nicely balanced on both and some nice toffee notes on the rye while the vanilla shines through on the corn.

Hi Thomas, thanks for adding a lot of useful info. Great notes.
I hope as well they refrain from chill filtering. But it’s nice they disclosed it.
Sometimes proofing whisky adds some mist - they can combat that by releasing at higher strength. I hope the day comes when whisky lovers applaud a little opaqueness.
      Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃

@@WhiskyWhistle We’re slowly getting there as more and more whisky enthusiasts are becoming educated on the negative impact of flavor and color due to chill filtration. 🥃

Thanks Holdswath! I definitely got lucky on that draw. Absolutely you have to get a Downriver or SOV rye whisky when you can.
