"Le Roy Louis" or "Le Roi Louis" is a modern song extolling the valour and determination of French King Saint Louis IX as he prepared to embark on the Seventh Crusade.
The song, recorded by the Joyeuse Garde choir, is based on a traditional tune that was popular in the 17th century, "La Fille au Roy Louis", a song about the forbidden love between the daughter of King Louis IX and a knight named Déon. The Joyeuse Garde choir reuses this melody with new lyrics about the Crusades.
