The "Chant du Départ" ("Song of the Departure") is a revolutionary and war song written by Étienne Nicolas Méhul (music) and Marie-Joseph Chénier (words) in 1794. It was the official anthem of the First Empire. It is also the regional anthem of French Guiana.
@@georgecampbell9638 Most likely, but he would never betray his country, France, because back then it was the most beautiful country in the world.
But in a single century France degenerated more and more, and is still declining, influenced by american progressists and leftists, and slowly destroyed from the inside by traitors since the end of WW1. We're a shadow of our former selves, and it will lead to our end, especially when getting devoured by the European Union and foreign countries.
So back to the subject, yes. It's precisely because we discarded Napoleon after a few defeats and got shitty leaders in place afterwards that we never saw a man like this again.
Charles De Gaulle prevented France from degrading more than it was because of WW2 and traitors trying to profit from it all, and he was the closest to be a Napoleon-like leader in spirit despite being a president, but even he eventually broke mentally and finally died.
Our great men today are being demonized by the medias kind of like what western medias do with Putin and Russia, and they last shorter and shorter in time.
Soon with all the treachery and thievery, Germany won't need to defeat France as it's currently self-destructing, but as long as there are patriots to defend it, France will still live in one way or another. Even at its weakest state we can come back, we're are the crossroad of France's History, and it's up to us, a minority of French people, to get it back on track, and either recover like the Hundred Years War, or disappear like many great civilisations that lasted centuries and even milleniums did before us.

He was captured by the Prussians so I think he was a part of Grouchy's 30,000 sent to pursue them. He spent six months at a POW camp in Danzig (he was an ethnic German from Alsace-Lorraine so I bet he was a translator between the German speaking Prussians and his French speaking comrades). If I ever have a son his middle name will be Nikolaus in his honour.

If you are born in 1942 Paris you are not german even if at that time Paris was a german city. It's the same thing except corsica was stolen illegally and never made indipendent or autonomous... France is the worst country at handling minorities many people were deprived of their culture by france, occitan and provencal 2 languages now almost dead, breton, alsatian, Ligurian in Nice, catalan and even corsican. All of these peoples were never french nor wanted to be french, and now even if france owns them they should at least be given autonomy. Every country does this except for france, Spain has galicia and catalonia, Italy sardinia, furlan, sicilian, neapolitan, franco-provencal, german-bavarian and even slovene, Germany is a federal repubblic.
Also "he didn't care about Italia" he loved Italia more than france, his true motherland Tuscany was his favourite region on earth. When he died he asked to be buried in Paris (to make the people happy) but if Paris was unavailable the second choice was Aiaccio in corsica

"Soldats !

Soldiers! I am happy with you. You have at the Austerlitz day, justified everything I expected from your intrepidity; you have decorated your eagles with immortal glory. An army of 100,000 men, commanded by the Emperors of Russia and Austria, was, in less than four hours, either cut off or dispersed. What escaped your iron is drowned in the lakes. Forty flags, the standards of the Imperial Russian Guard, 120 pieces of cannon, 20 generals, more than 30,000 prisoners, are the results of this forever famous day. This much-vaunted infantry, and outnumbered, could not withstand your shock, and now you have no more rivals to fear. Thus, in two months, this third coalition was defeated and dissolved; Peace can no longer be distant, but, as I promised my people before crossing the Rhine, I will only make a peace which gives us guarantees and secures rewards to our allies.
Soldiers, when the French people placed the imperial crown on my head, I entrusted myself to you to maintain it always in that lofty splendor of glory which alone could give it value in my eyes. But at the same time, our enemies were thinking of destroying and debasing it! And this iron crown, conquered by the blood of so many French people, they wanted to force me to place it on the heads of our most cruel enemies! Reckless and senseless plans which, on the very day of your Emperor's coronation anniversary, you annihilated and confused! You taught them that it is easier to defy us and threaten us than it is to defeat us.
Soldiers, when all that is necessary to ensure the happiness and prosperity of our homeland is accomplished, I will bring you back to France; there you will be the object of my tenderest concerns. My people will see you again with joy, and all you have to do is say, "I was at the battle of Austerlitz," for the response, "Here is a brave". "
Napoleon 1st, Emperor of the French.
