The noble king has called aright
every brave man and valiant knight
His voice rings out, solemn and slow
"Who will succeed me where I go?"
The ardent knights on bended knee,
made vows of Faith and loyalty.
Those with more prudence dared to guess,
where their good king would soon process
The Duke of Baume first gave his word:
"For this great land I'll wield my sword."
Said the great king, "This lacks wisdom.
We must save all of Christendom."
Then next came forth the good Guillaume:
"I will defend our Christian home...
...But I would count the price too steep,
to now sow death upon the deep."
"Ah!" Says the king, "Our great campaign
leads us to Africa again,...
In this vast desert pay the price,
for Him Who once did sacrifice."
And now Saint Louis, great in deed,
with him the valiant did succeed.
Far far away their triumphs shine,
in this great combat most divine!
When France was daughter of Christendom, biggest Catholic power and Bulwark of Christianity! French revolution was evil and now you and all of us are paying for its evil today. God punishes us, we failed as Christians, especialy West. Either we fight back and repent, or we all fail, soon. +++Beatiful song, for legendary King +++ +++Deus Vult from Croatia ! +++

King Louis IX, truly a great man. ⚔➕
Saint King Louis IX, pray for us!
it's funny to listen it in english. greetings from France.
@Bosnia sucks maybe because you understand the lyrics.
@Bosnia sucks As someone who speaks french as second and english as third language I have to say the french if sang good sounds better than the english one. But this one sounds very good too.
@Bosnia sucks Nope english vesrion in nothing compared to the french one
@@CH-Sibrand I concur here, this is a very good rendition on its merits alone, though the french one on average sounds better imo.
Thank you from Germany for this great version. Can’t describe the feeling it gives my soul. 🇩🇪🏴🇫🇷 for a Catholic Reconquista!

As an englishman who speaks and reads french i can confirm that its rather unsettling to hear this in english..like stroking a cat the wrong way :') however its an important message we share to our brothers and sisters. English, french..we are family mon ami. We are one great family and i love you. No matter where you come from. England, france, we are family. Under one banner
As a french, I love this version very much.

I love the French version of this song and honestly I did not imagine an english version sounding that good. The lyrics are a bit different from the French version but I guess it's needed to have it rhyme.
Great job, congrats !

As a foreign person who speaks both Francais/English - I certainly love French version, but this English version is very well-done and catchy too must admit…🔥🙏🏼
Never heard that version before, nice one !
Thanks
This is one of the best translations I've ever seen in my life. The words in english version are chosen perfectly to rhyme, translate and they sound just as epic and glorious as in the original version. Bravo to the translator.
As someone who is a fan of the original french version of the song, this a great localization
Who's here after the statue and city rename drama coming out of St. Louis?

Please do We Want God - Hymn by St. Louis de Montfort next!
I have to say (as a Frenchman) this translation is on point.
And as ww3 is looming, with numbers and weaponry seeming to be in favor of the liberty-wary East, i like to ponder this quote from Napoléon : "there are only two powers: the sword and the spirit. By spirit I mean the religious and civic institutions. And in the end the spirit always wins".
Be well, be strong.
The west lacks the spirit
Let me guess. You are one more Western fool who wants to fight Russia...and again to lost the war as your ancestors. Let me tell you something French guy...concentrate to liberate your country from Islam. If not, you are always welcome here in Russia to leave your bones as your ancestors.

Deo Gratias! Good Job TFP!
"this land which you inhabit, shut in on all sides by the seas and surrounded by the mountain peaks, is too narrow for your large population; nor does it abound in wealth; and it furnishes scarcely food enough for its cultivators. Hence it is that you murder one another, that you wage war, and that frequently you perish by mutual wounds. Let therefore hatred depart from among you, let your quarrels end, let wars cease, and let all dissensions and controversies slumber. Enter upon the road to the Holy Sepulchre; wrest that land from the wicked race, and subject it to yourselves ... God has conferred upon you above all nations great glory in arms. Accordingly undertake this journey for the remission of your sins, with the assurance of the imperishable glory of the Kingdom of Heaven. [...] All who die by the way, whether by land or by sea, or in battle against the pagans, shall have immediate remission of sins. This I grant them through the power of God with which I am invested."
Urban II, chronicler Robert the Monk.

Why in england " guillaume le conquérant " is called " william the conqueror " but in this song guillaume is still guillaume ?
Because "William" is seen as an English person (I know he spoke French and likely didn't knke much if any English, like most post-Norman kings of England until the later stages of the 100 Years War, but still, that's the modern, common perspective on him) and so his name is rendered as it would be in English, while the Guillaume here is solely seen as a Frenchman and thus the name goes untranslated. Same logic for why we refer to the two Kaisers of Germany as Wilhelm.
This isn't really a rule and there's plenty of exceptions, Christopher Columbus and Catherine the Great of Russia being two big examples off the top of my head, with their actual Italian or Russian spellings going unused by mostly everyone.
⚔️✝️⚔️
There's much to unpack here
"The good guillaume" -> Seigneur d'Estienne ?
Klingt echt toll 🇩🇪❤🇫🇷
not the exacts translation but nonetheless very good and i guess it rhymes better
Saint Louis IX, pray for Europe, because storm gathers...
When France was France!
Amen 🔥
That's what I also said many years ago, when I realised, that true France was 3 golden fleurs-de-lys resting on divine blue. French being first and most numerous Crusaders out of all the catholic west and leaders of the Crusades, and not this damned republic, that is since the end of 18th century. What a terrible error that was on part of French, to betray church and Christ in a way. I'm affraid France and rest of the civilised world is being punished for that great crime and error, and it will only get worse for whole world as it really seems we are living the last days of the apocalypse, as written in the Bible.

That feeling when you know that if you were born in medieval ages, you would for sure became crusader and without hesitation fight and die for Christ....i really hate this boring modern life.

Historical purpose, great. Meaning of song? Contra Christus by every count.
Incorrect. King Lois IX is a canonized Saint for his deeds.
Didn’t he get captured in Northern Egypt by Mameluke slave soldiers!?

We honestly invite you to make a better version. Surely the world can benefit from what you will produce. Of course it is not possible to please all and that is a fact of life with so many limitations as you know. The purpose and end of this is for the glory of the Catholic Church, and Her faithful son Saint Louis IX to be more known in the English speaking world.
Moi j'aime bien.
