The Rangers had won the AL West. They were bulldozed in a sweep by the 114-win Yankees that went on to win the World Series
The Mavericks…. sucked. Maybe this fellow from Germany could turn the team’s fortunes
And there was this fourth team… kind of an odd one of the bunch (I was one as a teenager)… they came from the north a few years ago but were growing a bit of a following with their unique playing surface, crowds going nuts when they scored, and yes, the physicality & brutality of the sport
I latched onto their playoff run that spring
I still have a copy of the special insert of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that celebrated the Stars Cup win
Thanks for covering hockey for as long as you have! I started watching around the Fall of 2017 when I went to Community College when I moved to a new state. I was alone and would often look for highlights/conversation about the Pens and Yotes (RIP) and found you. I’ve changed so much since that time and it’s crazy to see where I (and especially you) are now.

I always save these type of videos to my watch later and listen to them on my lunch breaks or when driving. News of the day I usually watch on my TV in the evenings (here in Europe). Shannon is a part of all of our daily routines 💪🏽

Fell in love with hockey in 92. Huge fan and collector then fell off a bit 2005 ish as life led me diwn other paths. When Vegas was announced dove back in and thats when i found your channel! No sport org has ever covered hockey or given so much shine to it as you have! In my mind you are the GOAT of NHL analysis hands down. Always presented fair and mostly unbiased. Please keep being you!
The thing that was most memorable to me about the 2021 intra-division season is when the Blues and Coyotes played a 7-game regular season series in the first half of February.
I remember that. I am pretty sure that was because so many of the other games had been rescheduled for covid reasons.
I started watching you during a little bit before covid and then hockey became my covid hobby.
I watch videos pretty regularly even when my team isn’t involved because I think you do a very balanced job Shannon - hope more fans realize this and base viewership grows because it’s deserved. It’s to the point now where you are in memes on Twitter usually when a team does something bad which is just awesome!

this is the only hockey youtube channel i watch daily. the hockey guy watches all the games and i think he has a much fair overview of the league compared to medias who over-covers one team and just show highlights for others teams.
there was a discussion today on montreal radio saying : is montreal a sports town? and most callers said that yes it is a sport town but the media only cover the habs. we got MLS, we have CFL, we have Tennis, we have F1, we have cycling, we have a marathon, well you get the picture. it's only habs for them. and viewers called them out on that. and nothing will change too.

Been watching you since the 2016-17 season! I was in middle school then and my bestfriend was a huge Sens fan and I was a huge pens fan! So much fun watching the games back then and then going to your review right after. Almost ten years later and still doing the same thing just in college.

I started watching you during the 2021 playoffs. Habs fan, and their surprise run renewed my interest in hockey so I wanted more content and found your channel.
I think you're a big part why I'm still as interested in NHL hockey as a whole even though my team went right back down to mediocrity.
Regardless of big stories I think the success of this channel is you. No hockey shows or podcasts can inform me or keep my attention the way THG can. You're my go to guy!! I do miss the cats though. Keep it up, your awesome

Minor correction. The Sharks controversy against Colorado in 2019 was a successful offside challenge, not a too many men.

I know when Vegas came into the league, the city just experience of the worst mass shooting. The City needed to grasp onto anything and the Golden Knights grasped onto the City of Las Vegas. It's been a win/ win ever since. Great following, great facility and Stanley Cup Championship showing in their first season. I really enjoy following these guys. I hope they can bring most of the team back.

I think your channel really inspired me to really sink my teeth into hockey. I used to start watching playoff series only in like game 5 or 6, or maybe a 3rd period here or there. But halfway through the 2022 playoffs I started watching every game I could (of the series I was interested in at least) and I haven’t looked back. It’s a hefty time commitment but hey I have no reason not to. Hopefully tonight’s Rangers/Panthers game is more entertaining than game 1 🤞

I'm a Wings fan in Atlanta, and while it doesn't bother me that there's not a whole lot to discuss about my favorite team, another topic I'm keenly interested in is expansion talk... so I'm looking forward to more about that, as I'm sure the rumor mill will fire up once again after the playoffs are over.

Nashville fan here and I just found the channel. Been a great watch so far! Oddly enough on the run in 2017, Nashville fan opinions about Rinne that year oddly doesn't seem to match the rest of the league. For most fans he was great in that first round but slowly got worse as the games ticked up. By the time we got to Pittsburgh he had pretty much run out of steam.
This is probably not the best video to discuss the salary cap "circumvention" issue, but since you touch on it a bit, I'll make the comment here. I have a solution: any player on LTIR on the 82nd game of their team is not allowed to play in the playoffs. Players that are injured but plan to return in the playoffs must be moved to regular IR and count towards the cap. If the team has no room under the cap, then players have to stay on LTIR and can't play.

I miss the days when a team was playing with the jersey. It was much more difficult to follow teams in different markets about in the 70's (the internet was a really small shell of what it is today.. and I knew nothing about it yet)..Oh and I remember back to 1975.. when I started following my Sabres.. even trying to see WHA highlights too.. which was impossible with only TV...

As a "civilian" I watch all the playoff hockey I can but during the season it's a lot of two weeks on two weeks off (or thereabouts) kind of thing. Before the Devils start the disappointment part of the year I try to catch most of their games.

Do you notice a difference in the game recaps when a popular team loses a game vs when a they win them, I feel like I'm less likely to watch them when my team loses so I'm curious if thats a general trend
Yep, in the Canucks-Oilers series, views were down about 30% in games won by the Oilers. In the Leafs-Bruins series, it was roughly 50% until game seven. The Leafs game seven losses are always well watched videos.
Funniest comments about Kuch missing the entire season and coming back for game 1 of playoffs was that HE COULD HAVE COMEBACK1 GAME BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS STARTED.
I was going to write the Leafs choking in round 1 but at this point its not a surprise, its an expectation everyone knows will happen.

The driving forces of informative news and entertainment doesn't exist as a dichotomy. Both will follow a meritocratic rises and falls - its just that entertainment tends to draw more eyes. I think you strike an excellent balance.
