I stumbled upon this pen at a small convention and "borrowed" it because I liked it so much. I love how smoothly it writes on natural fiber/handmade paper that has more weight and texture. Some areas of the ink dries lighter than others depending on how it pools while writing, which creates what I think is a pretty cool effect.
It's one of my favorites. I love how bold the ink is when I'm teaching under a document camera. I'm glad you got your hands on one. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
Thank you. I appreciate your kind comment. I would say Retro 51 is the best roller ball out there that I have tried. You can get the basic body styles for right around $20. You can then purchase refills on Amazon. I have quite a few of these in my collection, and I use them all the time. I think you would be really happy with one. I have several videos on these pens if you want to check them out. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
I like how you never fail to reply to any of the comments on your videos :D so my question is- do you still use the pen? I have been using it for a lot of time now, and it's hard to switch to any other pen after such smooth writing experience...and yes, as you said, it's really bold- which makes the ink strokes attractive So, any other pens that you've come across in these years, as an alternative to this pen? I'd love to try out some new pens
You're so sweet. I wouldn't want someone to take the time to comment and never hear back. I know I don't like that. This pen is LONG gone as it was a fast favorite. I've been relying on digital "stationery" for a long time now and have been missing my real stationery. Since getting back to my goodies, I've fallen in love with my Pilot Vanishing Point all over again, as well as my Pilot Acroball Whiteline. I've also been very into pencils, which aren't usually my thing. I still love Pentel Energel pens, as well. They are like butter and lay down a nice, vibrant line. I need to make some videos over this upcoming break. I've made a few hauls and have some cool stuff to share. Thank you for watching and commenting. :-)
I don't think this is a replacement for a Sharpie in any way if permanence is something you're looking for. I no longer have this pen, but I doubt it would work well on plastic. I don't know about writing upside down. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
I haven't tried it on a legal pad, but at the price of them, I wouldn't mind writing on just one side of the paper. I need to get a blue! Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
I could not figure out a way to get it apart, so I think it's a disposable pen. I got mine from a student. I'm positive you can find them on Amazon. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
Hi PenPixie! Great video. I had not tried the line variation, so will try soon. I love my Uniball Airs. I have “removed” my cartridge and refilled w Fountain pen ink.. initially very saturated, but after a while it worked beautifully. Give it a go!
I'm thinking you're wondering if the tip would be crushed if it hit the floor uncapped. I honestly don't know. I don't have this pen anymore, and I don't remember that happening. I do remember it not being an especially delicate tip. I used it a lot at work and put it through its paces. It help up really well. I would definitely recommend this pen. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
I prefer the air because it is more smooth. I have also done a video between the two for which one suits you best according to your handwriting Hopefully it will tell you.
@@ThePenPixie the eye is another uni ball pen. I have done a video and showed the air Vs Eye. I am not self promoting, I just want to tell you which is better.

Aw thanks, and you're welcome! I'm so glad you like them!

Looks great. Can you swap the bottom half of the US (older pen) onto your new one? That would mean you can keep your favourite design
I might be able to! I'll have to give it a try. Good idea. Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
This is a nice pen i had both versions of it and the pattern one is call uniball air micro
I like to get new pens but this one is awesome
It is a nice pen. I wasn't aware of the micro version!

Will it write on plastic? Will it write upside down? Looking for a Sharpie extra or ultra fine replacement that the tip will last.

I like the way it writes, but I have had severe bleed-through on standard-quality legal pads. My only experience is with blue ink.

@@ThePenPixie You can refill uni ball air with fountain pen inks. And guess what, they write great. I use a Parker Quink.

Hi
Hi!
Thanks for watching! :-)
Try writing a Quot
Sorry, I don't even have this pen anymore. It was used up long ago.
Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
I seriously have to stop watching your videos....and I'm sure you can understand why ;-)
Lol! But Brenda, you do need to get this pen and try it. It's awesome!

Trust me, these are not good for long periods of writing. They smudge way too much and is terrible for use in school.
I really like mine, especially when I'm teaching. Different strokes for different folks!
Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
It depends on the person Iove these pens for writing my school notes.
