You can use the code "EMILYSTUDYING" at Stationery Pal for a 20% discount until November 30, 2020 (BLACK FRIDAY SALE!!), otherwise it's 15% for the remainder of the year (still a great discount đ)

sometimes the smudging isn't the pens fault and it's the highlighters fault... i personally find that mildliners smear/smudge with everything...
Yes! I agree the thing is that the some pens smear in general but with the highlighter it makes it even more terrible!
@@kitclark1560 I use mojiline more than my mildliners tho I only have two colors of them and I have 15 of the mildliners.
Yeah! I usually write in pencil, and highlight right under it
Itâs the penâs fault-
Mildliners donât smudge with pilot frixlon erasable pens
Yup mildliners pastel ones are know for smudging
To be fair, the Zebra Mildliners smudge EVERYTHING! Normal highlighters don't smudge these pens as much
Me who just got the mildliners: đ
@@pristinamape8787 sameeeee đ«
@@anikahussain9006 they are so good. they do not smudge with pentel energel pens :)
mildliners aren't great highlighters after all, they are only popular cause the colors are awesome
@@ii_sxmmer1136 they smudge 0.7 needle tip
Her: a bunch of quality pens
Me: *100 pens but 98 of them are dried out*
Omg relatable
Literally I just threw out like a bunch and now I have the 2 pens wtf đŹ
Why is this so relatable?
@@nawsheenjahan4741 LOL
@@kumibarua2622 thats how it be sometimes
tips for zebra mildlinersâïž
1) highlight first: but if youâre like me and hate to do it thereâs another way to prevent smudges
2) write all your notes THEN go back and highlight
...typically the pens need like 5 mins to sit before you should highlight them with the mild-liners so there is no smudge...
3) apply LITTLE pressure
...i find that the more pressure you apply or the more times you highlight over the pen the more smears...
4) the pastel pack( orange blue yellow and pink) smears the most in comparison to the pack with (grey blue purple and red)
Facts
this is really helpful, even if i donât have these pens
If your comment was a tik too video youâd be viral! đ
Me: highlighting before writing đ©
Thatâs genius
@@jxlehk The problem is highlighting a bigger or smaller space than what you need, it really bugs me but sometimes it's necessary
@@gabbs_giss1871 try writing in pencil to get an idea of how much you need to highlight then highlight and write
@@kyak9089 Pilot Frixion highlighters donât smudge at all, you may not even need to highlight before writing. Not sure about other erasable highlighters.
@@raydai9541 they do smudge with the pens i use, may be because i dont wait for the ink to dry, thanks for sharing though, i may switch pens. (i use muji pens)

next day:*lose* *sees classmate using it*
I feel u
Tip (for Muji): just write out whatever u need to write, by the time u are done, the pen should be dried enough to be highlighted. they also have a new version, the pen tip for the capped one got longer, so itâs easier to write with.
I have loved muji for the longest time and Iâm too scared to move on and find a better pen when I love this one so much, so I found ways around the mujiâs pens weaknesses.
That was what i was going to comment they are one of my favorite pens
@@omegasunrose2144 yea I know right?? I love muji so much, glad itâs not just me who love them so much
Lol I love muji and got addicted like this month. I never had a smudge problem so they must have updated the ink. Now they are the only pens I will bulk buy even though they're not the cheapest of the lot in the vid.
Yess Muji is my go to pen, I don't think I can use any other pens unless their Muji branded, usually I wait for the ink to dry for 5 seconds and then highlight. Honestly I love the cap ones, I guess its comfortable for me to grip it because my finger has formed around the shape of it already lol.
For me, my muji gel pens have been absolutely fine at ink smudging. I could write something (with both my 0.5/0.7 pens) and highlight it instantly and they would never smudge. I don't know why so many people have this problem.
I'm so happy you made this video, because I was just about to go buy some more black pens and needed recommendations!đđ
yayyy!
Same!

What did you end up getting?
@@raydai9541 Zebra Sarasa 0.5mm, they are super good and I use I use them for all of my notes
I love how everyone is talking about the pens ....
While I'm over here admiring her hand writing đ
lol
Indeed - it is immaculate!
lmao i actually have that handwriting, itâs just take a lot of practice and effort!
Its a pen review video...đ
My absolute favorite is the Sharpie Gel pen. As an artist, I use it to line almost all of my art. It's completely smudge proof, and really smooth. As someone with tourettes, forgiving pens are REALLY important, and this pen is the best I've ever found for doing lining with my condition.
They are my favorite as well the 0.7 is perfect for note taking
Thank you for including the pilot G-2! Their so underrated!
Really? When it comes to more casual writing (non BuJo and art related), all i hear about is "you should buy G-2!"
Pilot g 2 is my favorite pen
my favorite pen of all time!!!
I know, right?! That pen is one of my FAVORITES.
@@Alicia-go7tlI mean I bet people on other channels definitely use it but I watch channels such as StudyQuill, Study to Success and of course Emily use Pentel Energel, Papermate inkjoy and Zebra Sarasa.
For me the Pilot Hi-Tec-C is a god send, as I have a tendency to add really tiny details when drawing and this is the only pen with a small enough tip for that
For the finest possible line you should consider learning to use drawing pens with disposable nibs. The Hunt's #102 Crow Quill and the Zebra G-nib are very popular for drawing. I do not draw but I sometimes use the 102 for lettering, and with the right paper and ink combination I can get lines that are something like 0.1 mm, and better yet with just changing the hand pressure I can vary it up to perhaps 0.4 or 0.5mm pretty easily. For inks you have a lot of options, you can go with old school India ink (Speedball super black, Higgins, Dr. Ph Martin) or newer inks with micropigments (ZIG, Platinum, Deleter, Rohrer & Klinger).
My absolute favorite pen is the pentel energel. I write a lot of poetry and it's legit so durable that I always run out of ink for the pens
YES OMG
Loved this video, thank you so much â€ïž
You are so welcome!
Omgg hii
Iâm such a big fan
Conklin oens
Energels are my absolute fave. I buy the refills and put them in more comfortable pens. I had some random Japanese pen that they fit in and it was my perfect pen until I lost it.
yup
I really love that you consider lefties. My hubby and myself are lefties and my whole life Iâve experienced problems with art and writing supplies.
Ty! âš
I use the sharpie gel pens and I love them! they don't smudge after you highlight them and they have a great ink flow. they are about 1 dollar per pen but if you get them in a pack it is cheaper. the grip is also great!
Actually hi-tec was my all time fave pens when i was in middle school n high school~ it makes my handwriting somewhat beautiful ~ it was one of expensive pen at that time tho (it was back at 2000s) good old time XD but now there are so many variants in the market that are better , amazing :)
what are better ones?
Any recommendations?
Now i love the pentel energel tho~
This video helped sooooo much! I never know what black pen to use when writing, and this helped me clear it up! Thank you!
Omg all that stationary đđ
Soo beautiful đ loved it ~ can you check out my latest kpop journal for 2021 : czcams.com/video/MmxoXVEEp6E/video.html !
It would mean the world to me!
#army
I love that you included whether the pens were lefty friendly or not! Most forget about the lefties lol. Anyways, i might get the pilot for cost, grip, and it also seemed smooth enough for my preference.
I was trying to find some! Thank you for making this video, it is also really aesthetic! âš
I love the pentel energel in 0.5 because highlight a lot and the ink drys in literally 3 seconds. I love it
Thanks so much for this awesome review as Iâm constantly searching for the best black gel for my bullet journaling!
Yesss!! Glad it helped âșïž
Can I just say how neat that handwriting is? I write like I'm drunk asf. đ
Imagine how you write when you're drunk-
Great roundup! Lots of factors in play, nice to see your take on some good planner pen options.
Yasss! I love that you still make stationery videos even tho you switched to digital notes đ„° đ
I too love collecting black pens and your channel is amazing đ
I am in love with the Sharpie Gel ballpoint pens. They're my go to.
iâve seen so many people rave on about the zebra sarasa pens so i got some and as soon as i clicked the pen i knew it was AMAZING and mine donât smudge at all 10/10 âšâšâšâš
thank you so much for the smudge test! I already was thinking of getting the pentel energel and knowing it would smudge with the mild liners just solidifies that decision!!
Yep Pilot G2 is my go to permanent pen, and I use the Energel as well. However, I've been spoiled by the Frixion erasable pens. The only caution is that pages are vulnerable to extreme heat 0 ie leaving in the car (although you can restore the ink by putting the notebook in your freezer when you come home). So far in the many years I've used them I haven't lost anything important. I did actually have to restore a few pages I was carrying in the car on errands. Funny story, when I first got the pens, I wasn't really aware of the heat issue - I sent a card to my best friend, with this long heartfelt message. Several weeks later, I mentioned it to her because she hadn't said anything - "oh! that must have been that blank card that I got in the mail!!!!" OMG and I don't think she kept it to restore it, LOL
My all-time favorite pens (black and multicolored) are the BIC Cristal (Spelled just like that) 1.6 mm. I bought a 24 pack of just the black ones about two years ago and am still LOVING them lol
Nice! I like personally the uniball signo DX for fine line writing and the zebra sarasa dry for normal writing for a lefie!
Nobody talks about this, thank u! Didn't know i needed this info until i saw your video.
From personal experience, my favourite is the Zebra sarasa clip in 0.5.....I have gone through so many..
Absolutely loved this video - quick and straight to the point (no âfluffâ - we all know what that means..)
Great quality :) keep up the good work!
thank you!!
My personal favorites are zebra sarasa for writing â€ïž and steadtler fineliner for drawing â€ïž
Oh my! I came here looking for smudge less pens because im a left handed and I found them! Thank you so much â€ïž
The Pentel Energel is AMAZING!I have a 1.0 mm pen and it doesn't even smudge!
TYSM U LITERALLY SAVED MY HW LIFE BRO
I got the Pental energel X BLN105 gel pen 0.5mm black bc it didnât have the exact and bro itâs majestic
thank you for this vid! I've been looking for pens for left-handed people
Same! I have watched one of these videos before and then bought loads of pens but turns out they took 1 minute to dry properlyđ I have finally found some that won't turn half my hand blackđ
Hybrid ink such as uni upstream, uni signo ink, zebra blend with surari ink , pilot acroink in acroball pen or Dr.Grip (jaoan version) or pilot B2P/petball, Pentel Slicci ink. Low viscosity, no skipping, no bleed through, easy to write at the correction tape/liquid ASAP, highlighter friendly.
i never really understood the issue of smudging ink when writing with your left hand. iâve been left handed my whole life but never experienced any smudging? maybe i hold the pen a different way or something
I DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED THIS, THANKS A LOT
this was great! thanks so much for the help! I'm a lefty so i got the mark on even before i saw it was the winner! my favorite part about the video though is the VIBE imma go binge all of your videos now
suprisingly a good reveiw video for comic book artists like myself. Thanks!
This is so helpful and informative. Thank you!
I love your honesty LOL thank you!!
Thank you for the wonderful review. I will be buying the Zebra Sarasa from now onward. I am using pentel gel permanent ink and a pentel Vucuna 4 in 1 both 0.5mm
Thank u I was looking for the best pens and I do highlights
a lot sooo thank u soooooooooooo much and I love ur videos
Iâm glad I found a video that validates adoration for(and slight obsession with) Sarasa Pensđ Itâs literally the only pen I use
Me: want to sleep
My phone : ting ting ting!
It's 1 a.m in my country and tomorrow I have online class on 8.00 a.m..ok let's just watch it for 8 minutes..
ahahaha thank you! But you should go to sleep now, it's late đ
@@urrbigdtn5817 lol I thought this was 73 years ago lol đ
i actually love muji pens, they're super comfortable for me because i always hold pens super far down at the end. sometimes the little edge digs into my finger a bit but i really only notice that if i write with them all day
I love the Pilot G-2 it writes so nice!
When i was still in school the pen that works for me is the Pilot G-tech only.... Now kids has sooooo many pens to choose from!! đđđđ
Pretty nice review. I used G2s throughout school (when I had to use pen), and still love using mine (even if it bleeds through on normal ruled paper)
finally a pen review that takes the price into account!
i JUST bought the zebra sarasa mark on and seeing that it doesn't smudge made me so happy cause my favourite pen, the pentel energel, ran out of ink and had no refills so all my notes since have been smudged!!!!! this is a relief because i write very fast and tend to smudge my own notes just by rubbing on them and I'm not even left handed.
can you make another video whatâs on your iPad! I love seeing the new theme all the time! It inspires me loads! xx
I'm only in grade school still but I struggle with studying so I've tried to make my notes prettier or more aesthetic to help me memorize the material. Finding what kind of pens that would fit me really helps! :)
Help the sound of the dry highlight felt like nails on a chalkboard to me lmaooođ but otherwise, great video!! I've been so into pens again lately idk why lol and loved the pens you have here!
Ty sm for the recs! i also have the sarasa pen in 0.7mm ,, ill def go to the bookstore to get the zebra sarasa mark on in 0.4. ou are the best study youtuber ever. !!! đ
Your printing is fabulous!
My favourite pens keep being BIC pens and Uni-Ball . They are comfortable and trustworthy. Great ink flow and the ink quality is also very good. They just hardly ever disappoint me.
Same here. They are also really easy to find AND aren't pricy
Thank you so much, it's so helpful for me.
Thanks for the suggestion. I've really enjoyed using this Pilot HI-Tec-C 04. It's got "Maica" on it. (I have no idea what that means.) Today, I thought I'd buy the .4 Sarasa. Very excited to use them!
I just wanted to grab myself a good black pen (I have cheap ones which smudge a lot and are not even at the moment) so thank you very much for this video ! Also the criterias you chose to rate them are very useful !
no problem âșïž
tysm for this video itâs super helpful đ
I like the video and love the description đ
Thank you for the recommendations
After watching your review (plus another) I purchased the 5 pack of vintage Sarasa pens (from Australian Amazon). Great colours and so smooothđ
Thank you
Super love your handwriting â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
I watch this video.. and some with the same topic before sleep. I love pens.. since highschool. Forgot about that hobby since 2015 when I do most work digitally, due to its practical for mobility & accessibility. And pandemic push me back to this hobby.. Happy writing than watching blue ray screen all the time.. this kind of video become therapeutic session for me. đ
I use Pentel Energel 0.4mm. It's cheap, sturdy, pretty cool design, needle-pointed but no cap, which is perfect because I tend to lose them đ
Used to wear pricy Pilot Hitech but when I drop them, the needle point bends easily and the ink won't come out.
I feel like the best black pens I've ever had are those 10 peso(around â of a US dollar) ones that you would find in the palengke/grocery store. Doesn't look very fancy but they don't smudge, writes smoothly and lasts for quite a long time
anything by pilot is my go-to, right now i have a set of pilot color glitter pens that i use in my school planner, they come in pink, purple, blue, turquoise, and black and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! they dry very quickly, they donât bleed, iâve been using the same pens that i got at the beginning of last year so they last really long! i also have a set of pilot erasable highlighters and those are just as amazing (and erasable!!!!)
THANK YOU I NEED THIS VIDEO!
Iâm gonna buy A LOT of zebra Sarasa mark on pens xD
tysm!
No problem!!
I suggest Pilot Acroball 0.7!! It doesn't smudge and the ink was smooth too! â„â„
Iâm left handed and I write a lot of notes and highlight a lot so Iâm looking for a good pen for this coming year, this helped thanks
love it , its very helpful and i have found my favourite black pen which is Muji 0.38mmđ
My favorite method is to highlight first, then write over to prevent smudging (it helps so much ) đ€đ€
Thank you for the information , it was very helpful ...
Thanks that was useful actually.
Thank you for sharing âșïž

Muchas gracias por este video ⥠era justo lo que necesitaba~~~
Extremely helpful video! Thank you so much for doing this ^^
No problem!
The best pen ive ever used is sarasa 1.0,it lasts long, and when it falls it doesnt stop working.
A tip for highlighter is to actually use the highlighter first then use the pen, its pretty complicated but it looks better
Hi Emily I just run out of pens. I bought the zebra sarasa cause I thought the zebra sarasa is good base on the video and omg its so good :D thanks for the video. I love your content so much and I always love it when you post
Thanks. Now I'm going to get the Pentel Energel. Pilot G2 smudges when highlighting is done.
Pilot G2 is totally my favorite!
Iâve been using mark on for several years now, the best pen!!!
Thank you so much! I'm left handed and finding a good pen is always such a struggle!
5:02 thatâs my favorite pen to use for drawing and writing (pilot G2 pens) mostly because of the 0.05 MM tip
yup
The first one, i use it all the time and it really works. mildliners smudge a lot so yeah and also u just need to wait a lil before highlighting.
sarasa mark ons are my favourite at the moment :)
they're smooth and look great, but also dry on the paper really fast and don't smudge even with stabilo boss or mildliners :)
Thanks for sharing!
There was 199 comments and it bothered me so-
