We've tested A LOT of black pens, so we're confident that these are the BEST ones. Did any of your favorites make our list? Let us know in the comments!
I love the Uni Jetstream and Pentel Energel! I think the Energel should have been on here, itâs super smooth and quick drying! Uni signo is also good. Iâm looking to try the Sarasa Mark On with Zebra Mildliner highlighters.
I second Minna's comment... the Mark On works wonderfully with Mildliners. The only other ink that I personally recommend to use with Mildliners for a smudge-free experience is ballpoint ink; any will do.
I'm a Pentel Energel user and it's truly a life saver as left handed. Due to the quick dry ink, I don't leave my classes with the side of my hand of all colors but white lol
*I remember i used to write with friction ink pens, and one day woke UP to find all my notes gone, was shocked but found out it was the Sun that deleted all my notes*
@@dcpoweredIâm pretty sure I did over a decade ago, but itâs just a matter of fact in how the ink works, not really sure why youâd need to test it to believe it.
As funny as it may be to say . . . I feel that it might be too smooth! I mean, is that a thing? I prefer my pens to have a little drag, and my pencils, they should be as smooth as the Uni-Ball Air. If anyone enjoys writing with smooth pens then the Uni-Ball Air is definitely for you.
Yea, I prefer my pens to have a drag, with gel pens I write faster but messier. Iâm trying to write nicer in cursive so the Uni-Ball air might be a good choice!
Was just talking to a colleague today about how much I love the zebra sarasa vintage clip collection, but alas the black isn't as deep as a true black if that is what you are looking for. Everything else about that line is amazing
The Pilot Juice Up 0.4-tip wasnât in the video but I found these to be my favorite pens! They have a perfectly fine tip without feeling scratchy, the ink is smooth, the colors are rich, and thereâs no ârailroadingâ when you write with it! A big pack has 10 colors if Iâm not mistaken. I got pink, red, orange, green, light blue, royal blue, navy blue, purple, brown, and black in the pack.
The Pilot Multiball pen is AMAZING, I discovered two years ago and I can't stop recommending it to everybody, it's cheap and you can use it on everything.
I had both the Staedtler Triplus and Stabilo Point 88. I really like the Stabilo. One gel pen that didn't make the cut was Pentel Energel. Love all of their colors and love the fact that I can buy refills. I also like the Sharpie S Gel. So grateful to JetPens!!
I would love to see a comparison of black fountain pen inks. I copied and pasted onto an Excel spreadsheet your ink sheets from each line, but it's hard to compare. I'm looking for the blackest black.
I would like to see this same video with faster writing (more realistic when taking notes), on different paper type (ie. Hobonichi and others) and under highlighter on the same papers.
Ever since I got that black pen sampler, I've kind of expanded past frixion pens, at least for normal black text, cause I still use frixion for color coding But I also needed a ballpoint for work, cause I use gel pens for everything else and they're not the best option in an environment with many types of papers. So I just had to start using uni jetstreams xD and since I have pretty bad RA+my weird grip, the gel grips are pretty nice For normal writing in my personal life tho, I love using the energel. Not just for the ink, but I just love their specific clicking sound. It's so thock
I'm a broad tips writer ! Below O,5 I can't write, I have pain in my fingers, my hand, my arm...So when I don't write with one of my fountain pens, I really love Energel with O.7 and even more (but with less colors) 1.0. When I need a fine tips, I like needle-points like Pilot Hi-Tec-C.
The Uni-Ball Signo is my go-to pen for writing. I use all three sizes: 0.38 for text, 0.28 for details, and 0.5 for headings. But I also like the Pilot Juice in .38, the heavier Pilot Juice Up in 0.4 and 0.3, the Sarasa that you reviewed, and the Pentel Slicci in 0.25 (all of which I buy regularly from JetPens. I think you can tell that I am a big fan!) âđŒâ€
Frixion has made a splash in the craft world...especially Quilting! The ink reacts beautifully to be pressed away with an iron. BIG caveat: Lines return in the cold. Quilts transported by plane or through the mail/delievery during the winter stand a better chance of ALL the marks returning, essentially marring the work for a show. We have found that a good spritz of water and light scrub will dissolve the residual chemical....but its always best to not mark where the line will show. I have used Uni's for years, but have have come to love Zebra's line!!â€ïž
The Pilot Hi-Tec-C is great, but it goes grey over correction tape. The Pilot Juice Up is almost the same pen, except it stays black over correction tape.
I loved the theme of the video, thank you for putting the effort to make it! :) I only have a bit of feedback regarding the music. For me, stationery videos are the most enjoyable with softer, relaxing music. You have a few videos like that which I've watched a few times already because they're just so satisfying. However, with this louder, rock music, I didn't get that soothing feeling. It's just a personal preference. Thank you for reading this, have a blessed day!
my absolute favourite pen of all time is the snowman v-5 0.7. its so smooth and writes like a gel pen, but dries really quickly and has no issues with highlighters. love it so much
I love the handwriting used in these videos, so cute! As for my favorite black pen I've tried in modern times (since gel became mainstream), so far the Pentel Energel in 0.7 is coming out on top.
i love uniball jetstream sport i hope they never stop making it, however i have noticed recently the ink becomes less smooth towards the end but before this didn't use to be a problem
iâm a lefty and literally none of the gels donât smudge the only one for some reason that works reasonably well for me is the pilot juice in 0.38 idk i write SUPER small (a capital letter is about 1.5mm) as well so i also need one small enough for my writing
STAEDTLER!!! I have the whole big set of triplus fineliners and they served me well in high school when I first used them to now in adulthood for various journaling, writing, and even art things. My ultimate favorite for sure âĄ
Could you guys do a video comparing black (and other colours) fountain pen inks? Like which brand is more water resistant, which is more pigmented or such Loved the video!
You guys can make like the best stationary for each pen case. Like the lihit lab pencilcases, in their different sizes, with highliters, pens, markers, rulers, eraesars and stuff. Also, another idea, can be like pencases with different stationary for different majors, school, or just like based in personality. If not so, the same pencase with different stationary, again, depending in personality, majors, school, favorite class or anything. Ps: I LOVE your content guys, your videos are so high quality. Keep it up â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
My everyday carry is a Uni-Ball eye ultra micro (UB-150-38). A no compromise pen. When it was available (in portugal) the Uni-Ball air micro (UBA-188M) was my preferred pen. Great gliding and writing. Another favourite of mine is the Schneider One Hybrid C 0.5mm. Really interested in trying the Pilot Multi Ball Roller Pen.
The only thing that makes the Stabilo fineliner a good choice is it's price. In every other regard there are much better pens. It smudges, it doesn't last long, sometimes it's dry, sometimes it flows a river of ink...in middle school it was good, but either you are an engineer or you'd like to draw, or just write there are much better ones.
Don't get me wrong, I adore a black .7 Jetstream, *but*...the Pilot Acroball has been my ride or die for over a decade. Is their ink sometimes inconsistent? Sure. But the smoothness beats out any Jetstream I've tried. Also, blue pens are đ
I actually have two pens that are in the video. The Uniball Signo and Staedtler Triplus Fineliner. The Uniball is my fave. Love the way it writes. Best for lots of writing. Staedtler is good for short writing. I donât like the way it feels on the paper. Yes to blue pens! Iâd love to see a video on it.
I get that the Sarasa R was never going to make this list, but I recently put my black 0.4 Sarasa R "refill" in the Uni Signo 207 Premier body and it's literally perfect.
Uniball, then energels, then zebra sarasa clip. It's the ink. Highly recommend the new uniball 207+ only wish it came in a fiber point. Also water resistance is very important. Only the unis solve this well. The others smear. I love the energel but as a leftie i have to be careful. The zebra clip 05 is too broad and the 04 skips on me. I have over ten different varieties of zebra clips and they're all not my favorite, very hard to write with, in colors. The black is good. Unis tho!
my favorite pen may not be as cool as these other ones, but i really loved using Dong-A AnyBall, it doesn't smudge with my highlighters and it makes my note taking more fun, with a cheap price! im sad that my pens ran out of ink tho, i haven't experienced any other pen with the same quality that I love (maybe because I dont have the ones in the video yet HAHA)
Hi! Same! I collected all available tips and like 0.5 the most! I couldn't find any refills tho. But switched to pilot because my work requires to use pencils and i need a multi pen just because I find it a hassle to switch pens from time to time
Been using a Pilot V5RT ever since I bought one. I'd like to try the Pilot G2 as well to see if their refills are the same length so that I can try a metallic pen and just add refills to them instead
Pilot G2 0,7 gel rollerball pen for me. Parker ISO G2 refill on classic ballpoint. Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen (on F and bullet tip, with India/Chinese Ink) is the best felt tip roller-marker for me. And they are very easy to refill and reuse. Check out on CZcams. Any Edding are good to (and refillable), but they are more chunky.
Lol, good thing I already have half of these, or my wallets Spidey senses would be tingling with spending anticipation and for the record, the Zebra Sarasa clip reigns supreme...in my collection anyway.
I'm surprised that the Zebra Sarasa Mark-on didn't make it. It's literally the only gel pen I've found that smudges very little with the Mildliner highlighters. (Those highlighters have amazing and pigmented colors, but are otherwise a nightmare: they horribly smudge nearly every gel pen that I've tried, and the ghosting is very noticeable. I really hope that the Uni Propus Window get a wider colour range because they are soooo much better than the mildliners performance-wise)
I think my dad has a couple 0.7 mm and 1.0 mm uni ball signos. For some reason they all seem to skip, especially the 0.7 pens. Not sure if he got a bad batch or smth lolll
I went to a school in the 1980s where we had to use an "ink pen" as we called it back then, so basically a fountain pen. Ever since then I have disliked ballpoint pen. Rollerball, gel pens, fineliners and Sharpies are all fine by me but oily spindly ballpoint, I can't stand it! Back in the day when most business correspondence was on paper you would receive gorgeous letters on watermarked laid paper with embossed letterheads and it just seemed so wrong when it was signed with a smear of oily ballpen ink!

I'm surprised the Sharpie S-Gel, Pilot G2 and Pilot V5 didnt make the list!

Gotta agree on the Energel, was surprised not to see it featured.

I love the Uni-Ball air! Itâs so hard finding pens that feel good when writing in cursive, but the air is great, especially when Iâm writing fast.

You can always put in a regular black refill in the sepia black body if you want a standard black while keeping the overall look of the vintage set.
I bought a Zebra Blen by accident a few months ago, and it is the best accident ever! Now one of my favorite pens to use.
Pls... make the blue version.. since everything is more digital, signing authentic document always in blue... đ

I would love a fountain pen version!
The Sharpie S-Gel is very good and smooth. I'm surprised the Uni-ball deluxe rollerball didn't make the list.
That Sharpie is my favorite pen. Multiple tips sizes & ink colors. đ

Platinum carbon ink in black. You have not seen black if you have not tried this ink. Only dead stars are blacker!
