Happy New Year! I want to let everyone know that I just launched a Patreon page for this channel. The link is in the video description. Patreon is a way for viewers of my videos to show their support for the work I do and gain access to behind the scenes updates from me. I just launched the Patreon page today and I'm working on coming up with additional perks for Patrons. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you and thanks for watching.
I think this is a great idea my g!!! How about a contest that anyone who becomes a patron is automatically entered into where they can win one of your restored pieces at the end of the year? It’s genius fam!!!
I was just going to ask if you had one! One of my “New Year’s resolutions” is to give more support artists I enjoy. 😊
Love this!
Very nice combo of skills required to do this job. Great results.
Great way to start the new year! I enjoy your videos so much. Thank you!!
"You can't see it but I'm wearing shorts under my apron" is the most disappointing thing I've heard all week. The idea of Dashner doing furniture repair pantsless all summer would have made my year! LOL. Great video and great work as always!
After 40+ years of refinishing furniture, I can tell you the sticky mess on the arms is, don’t be grossed out, human skin oil and dirt! I’ve redone lots of restaurant chairs that have so much of this! Wooden backs get that across the top where people grab the chairs to move them too! You really do amazing work! It’s a pleasure to find a new video from you! Edit! Wrote this before I watched your upholstery work! You did a fine job, just one small tip… start in the center when stapling the fabric on a side and stretch out to the corners. You’ll be much happier with the smooth corners.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
I was gonna mention that. Finish wears off and is replaced with oil and dirt.
my partenrs mission style recliner is like this now. Getting worse because we retired to high desert and bought a fixer home. So i guess he's sweating on the arms. Was going to scrub down with Murphy's oil soap and lightly restain the arms? Dont want and rest not needing anything.
@@retroredo9850 you can use the tire cleaner from the $ store...it works great on greasy grimy ick on wood.
What do you use on all that…um…”human skin oil”?
A master at your trade! Don’t put yourself down. You charmed me!
For someone that doesn't know that much about upholstery you sure have a good product turn out. Again your calming voice and your choices for your work give us a great video to start the year. I notice you use just about anything for a tool of sorts in your shop. a container of toothbrushes, assorted plastic containers, just stuff laying around that suit the purpose. Thanks again!
You're really flexing by putting those beautifully refinished chairs out in the snow at the end. I "mildly" refinished some mid-century Danish chairs and I panic whenever one of my girls gets too close with a sippy cup. You're like: "nah, straight in snow is fine." Awesome work.
I’ve learned so many da$& techniques from Dasher, I can’t thank you enough. I’m a scavenger on the west coast doing what you’re doing and I love your content. Thank you so much
I love how you respect each piece of furniture and bring it back to its original glory instead of just painting it with chalk paint. It’s exactly what I try to do with each piece I try to “resurrect “. The main difference is that you know what you’re doing and have such a lovely variety of clamps and tools and knowledge that I truly envy! Inspiring work!!
I realize you had quality pieces to start with, but this is one of your best ever. The chairs are outstanding. Your ability to achieve above average results with simple techniques is a gift. You have a vast storehouse of accumulated knowledge in this area and I thank you for passing it on to us.
Sir, you may categorize yourself as an amateur, but you are an artisan. You take your time, show transparency of your humble ability, and present it in a calm, authentic, and informative manner. If I lived closer, I'd have my Danish Modern furniture restored by you.
I like how you spent all that time and effort refinishing them and then just left them out in the snow to rot.
Nice job and what a pleasure to watch without annoying music contaminating the video

Every year, in the eve, we renew our expectations in the hope that the New Year be better than the last. Looking back, we realize we jumped a lot of barriers. We fought harshly in the last two years to keep our chins up. I lost some of my beloved friends, but I’m still standing.
The coming year is filled with opportunity; our hopes are that you are successful in all your endeavors over the coming year.
With love and respect,
Diógenes
Next time you have a split in the wood and need to get glue deep into the crack apply glue and use a vacuum on the opposite end to force the glue to get into the crack. Best tip I’ve ever seen on CZcams.
Using tape to help prevent messes from the wood glue is so smart. I'm going to start doing that 🤩
Thank you so much!!! It gives me the motivation I need to restore the 4 murdered mcm dining chairs I just got today. Someone put silver metal squares with wood screws all around them to secure almost all the joints... It's gonna be a long (first) chair project.
For not knowing what you were doing with the upholstery you did a great job. Very nice 😊
Tape and dental floss on the glued crack was sheer genius!
You could read me the phone book and I would enjoy every minute. Lucky for us both, you're teaching me new skills every video. Great job on these 2 beauties. Glad you finally finished them. Great way to start the new year! Thanks for sharing.
Lol you know about phone books!
Boy, those turned out nice. It was great that you could just reuse the vinyl. Great job!
Those chairs are gorgeous after your beautiful work!
What an excellent way to start my new year, breakfast and one of my fave youtube channels. Really happy to see that you have a patreon now!
Thank you!
I love how we saw all 4 seasons in the background 😀
I have a bunch of similar chairs, probably 6-8, that were from my father’s office. They have been reupholstered once or twice and reglued at least once. They are teak, not walnut, but they are in pretty good shape. The arms are exactly the same style as yours. Maybe I will look into having them redone. My parents had a lot of Danish Modern furniture, both at home and at their business. My father’s ancestors were Danish and Swedish. Nice that it is coming back. We have kept most of it, and most are in very serviceable condition.
i implore u to get ur furniture appraised and possibly insured. my grandmother had a teak dining set that we were able to get insured for over $6,000
I Sure love your videos, no loud music so many CZcamsrs feel is necessary. So relaxing to watch. Thanks so much
So glad you're still at in 2022. We're always looking for your next installment. Thanks.
I enjoy your videos and your honesty is refreshing. You should include before and after shots at then end. Good luck.
So pleased to see you hurtling straight out of the 2022 starting gate! Looking forward to another year of your excellent videos. There's nobody like you.
Great job! Both restoring & reupholstering. Good looking chairs. Carol from California
My New Year just got off to a great start thanks to you! The chairs look terrific. I especially love that you kept the natural color of the wood. I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2022. ATB
A sterling job on those chairs. Congratulations on getting Dr Stephen Hawking to do the commentary 👌
Hey brother, happy new year!
Because of your videos, I got myself into the whole refurbishing of the furniture I want to use in my house. Thank you for the dedication, inspiration and knowledge you bring to us all!
Thanks for watching!
That’s nuts !!!! I can’t believe how gorgeous this turned out !!! I’m so glad that as I get older I appreciate all the different designs and styles of yesteryear ! Here we can see them as they looked like brand new ! You’re a true craftsman !! I wish I had even a garage where I could do some things : and by that I don’t mean chalk paint ! Yuck !! Lol.
I always admire how you restore items that most people would throw into a dumpster. Congratulations.
I’m so impressed!! I’ve always loved wood. And quality woodwork makes me so happy!
I had forgotten about the dental floss method of spreading glue. Sweet!
How nice, I had the 4 seater couch with two armchairs in the 80's
Love this channel...It gives this Disabled Veteran some good motivation for my own wood working...Thank you!
I really enjoy watching your videos. The commentary gives it a Bob Ross feel, and he was definitely a cool cat.
The chairs ended up looking great, congratulations, it is extremely rewarding the fact of investing some time, energy and work end in revealing a great result.
Fantastic!!!!! I have rung the bell but still don't always get your videos in the feed. I've calmed down now. I know I can just go to your channel and look. The chairs look fantastic!
9:32 Thank you for clarifying LOL. Beautiful work as always
Thanks for making it chic to keep stuff from going to the landfill, the planet thanks you!
The chairs look great. I don't know much about upholstery either, but it seems to me that you did an excellent job on restoring those cushions.
I had to go back to check the beginning of the video, I was like that must be new Vinyl he upholstered but it appears it was the original, they looked amazing
Nice work...those chairs deserved a new lease of life. Loved the water hack.
Once again, beautiful work. I always enjoy your videos.
Wow! Fantastic. The Danish Oil was a great choice. 👍
They're getting snowed on!😊 great job!
Your education is nutritious and easy to digest. You are part of the invaluable resource which is CZcams and I pledge to donate to your Patreon a percentage of every dollar I make using that which you have taught me. Thank you for helping me find a new economic avenue with which my family will eat for years to come.
Beautiful work. The only addition I'd make would be a cambric cover for the underside of the chair seats, before reattaching them. Nice finishing touch.
Dashner, nobody ever mentions it but whenever I used to do this work with my dad, we ALWAYS wet the crack or the dowels before adding the glue. Dad said the dowels were made of special wood (they are supposed to expand), and the reason a leg cracked was because the wood got too dry. So we would wet that wood for about an hour, dry it, then glue it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Mid-Century Modern furniture and design are passions of mine. I now feel empowered to tackle my own restoration projects. Thanks.
Truly a craftsman for all seasons.
Beautiful! I just love the end result.
I will never even try what you did so beautifully, but it was so much fun to watch you do it. Thank you!
Those kicks at 2:34 "Air Dashner" are fire!
Another great result! I wish I had tools and a space to do that kind of work!
Nice work! Love seeing these mid century modern pieces restored. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! Keep your videos coming. They are really comfy watching and inspiring as well. I hope you come across some Norwegian mid-century pieces that need a rescue. Some of the most treasured Norwegian furniture are more common to come across in the States than in Norway. Wish you all the best.
Thank you.
Bravo!!!! Another awesome restoration!!!! Looking forward to seeing more this year!!!
They turned out pretty nice for someone who doesn't do upholstery.
Will never get to your level of refinishing but i learn a lot from your videos. Ive been a life long sewist. To get material over foam use a finer material to cover first, like a micro fiber pillow case or even a poly satin, lingerie material, like a slip. Not something that will ravel if pulled or stretched. i made a bench seat cushion using 2 micro pillow case protecters my partner had, never used, probably inherited. i used 2 clearance patio seat pads. They are not true square but you invert one so the 2 trapazoid shapes make a rectangle. I cut off one end of the a cover keeping zip end intact and added enough of the over to snugly encase the foam pads. Then my fashion fabric cover went on easily. Hope that helps anyone.
Wow, this is good work, the way the chairs arrived at you, in such a bad condition, and look how they look after your amazing work, they are really beautiful now, congratulations.
The chairs look great! Nice upholstery work. Those chairs look so light and airy. Just strong enough to do the job.
Thank you! First video to see this year and I am glad it is yours! Happy New Year!
Thank you!
Looks great. I think the upholstery repair worked out well.
You are an inspiration! I bought my first house a year ago. Most of my furniture is bought at Goodwill, Salvation Army, or the Restore. Your videos have given me confidence to refurbish all of them. Thank you!
Most enjoyable video, result looks pretty good. Like the gluing tip of using string and a wedge, cheers.
Stunning chairs! Thanks for keeping track and editing this video together. Looking forward to your projects this year, cheers!
Thank you.
Great job! The upholstery look great as well. They are beautiful!
Happy New Year! Thanks for all the great videos last year.
Amazing job well done , you have given me a new appreciation for mid century furniture and I’m changing my decor so thank for the inspiration.
If it is possible, I would give your gentleness, patient, motivation and passion with big love 1000 likes. Hope I will be able to meet more people like you in real life. Happy new year and thanks for showing your dedicated and professional works of repair!
WOW, they turned out brilliantly - well done again ! It's always so relaxing to watch and hear you work. Happy New Year and thanks for your videos :-)
the chairs look very nice! thank you for sharing your craft with us.
Those chairs turned out very nice. Wish I could buy them lol. Good job 👍 thanks
Wow.. those turned out fantastic!!
I love watching you scrape off a finish with the blade. It reminds me of my father removing a finish from chairs using a butter knife. I have a very similar swivel chair that I picked up at a thrift store for $4.00. I just needs some new seat foam. Maybe I'll attempt that.
Those are beautiful chairs wonderful work.
Very nice chairs. I can really appreciate quality materials in a piece and the fact that those chairs are still around is a testament to their quality. Happy New Year!
Wonderful restoration of gorgeous designed chairs ! Beautiful work !
They looks amazing. Thanks for sharing the Video
Awesome job, I love almost everything you have restored.
Beautiful Job love the Danish oil finish
Thank you and Happy New Year! I recently found a pair of mid century Lane walnut stepped side tables on the side of the road. I knew where I should go to find out how to clean up the tops; they are in perfect condition otherwise. I didn't realize I'd find it within a few days. Thanks for the wonderful timing!
These chairs look great! And your upholstery work looked good to me! Nice job!
Beautiful way to start the new year! Thank you 🥰
That was brilliant! The chairs look brand new!

Beautiful restoration of the two chairs. I learned quite a bit listening to your tutorial. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more videos in 2022. :-)
gorgeous restoration, as usual!!!
I love that style of chair and you did a great job of refinishing them!
Beautiful! The upholstery work is nice and cleanly done, too. I wouldn't have known that the seats needed work. The Danish oil finish is always so nice. Looking forward to all the great projects in 2022; happy new year!
Very nice work. Love those chairs♥️
