Hey @AfterSkool Chris Hedges has an interview with James Gilligan (former director of the study of violence at Harvard medical school) called "Breaking the cycle of American Violence" (here on CZcams). In it he details "soul murder", where the most violent prisoners would go to the extent of killing their own physical body in order to resurrect their soul. Detailing how the normal dichotomies between love-hate, body-soul, good-bad, etc., break down for a person who has incurred or has become a victim of violence. It's a conversation that fleshes out more of this theme. Keep up the great work!

Ehm, don't you think your inefficient laws could be part of the problem too?
I mean, what's wrong with asking people that have guns to go to psychiatrists to be evaluated every three months?
After all, if a person is considered a threat he can't drive, but why is it not the same for gun owners?
Also, it's quite superficial to point the finger towards every thing but guns' lobbies.

We have to change that both politically and societally though. Read “Forget having it all How America Messed Up MotherHood and How to fix it.” I’m not gonna sit here and sell you something that has the answers. In fact the authors suggestions are just as flawed as anything you or I can come up with. But it raises a point of our society. We never have been a Village. From the conservative and isolated nuclear family to the lack of any family structure today, the system has always been broken. We criticized the idea that it takes a “village to raise a child” both societally and politically and we still do. Unless we actually become more nurturing and caring instead of competitive and selfish, nothing will change.

I'm convinced some people go off just because they aren't given a face saving alternative path. I don't know what that looks like societally, but there has to be a "this isn't working" track, an emergency stop for the ones who hurt too much.

I have a hypothesis of how at least some mass killers are created. When I was a little kid, I was pretty weird from living in my own imagination a lot of the time. This caused me to be targeted by bullies. However, I was taught to fight back, and I did. For the most part, bullies left me alone.
When I was 9, my family moved to a new state, and that meant a new school with new bullies. Very quickly I was attacked, and they seemed shocked that I hit back. This is because the school sent me to the principal's office to be scolded and punished for fighting back. Not the bullies who attacked me completely unprovoked, just me for defending myself. I was lectured about how violence was never an answer, and how me defending myself was highly disturbing behavior.
I was a little behind in reading, so they pulled me out of all the classes I excelled at, math and science, and put me in special education to keep an eye on me. They made me see the school psychologist for my violent tendencies, and anytime I did anything that they thought was questioning their authority, I was locked in a burlap lined closet to "get me under control." Mind you, me being out of control was things like correcting a teacher when their textbook was incorrect. They'd sometimes forget that I was locked in that closet until my parents would call them, asking where I was.
They had various excuses for this, but ultimately, my parents sided with me and pulled me from that school. Now, ask yourself what would have happened to my mental health if my parents sided with the school? What if I was told to just take all the abuse? Can imagine the resentment, isolation, boiling anger building over time? I've given that a lot of thought, and I could easily see that breaking my will to live while making me a deeply hateful person!
Luckily, I had parents that were paying attention and got me out of that environment, but I can imagine how bad it would have gotten if they didn't.
I think that parents paying attention to their kids, what they're being taught, and the environments they're in is critical for preventing the conditions that leads people to do horrible things.

They were always thinking of something and how that something affects or could affect how other people think. This is anecdotal, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is a totally common trait among many comedians. My theory is many of them turn to making fun of these constant thoughts just so they don't drown in how dark the thoughts can be.

I feel like there's something missing. During my time in high school, I was bullied to almost the brink of becoming a school shooter. Physically, emotionally and psychologically. No matter what, I was a target. Daydreaming while crying, "I want to hurt them back". But I was strong enough to push those thoughts away. And sadly, some people can not control their thoughts/actions. They step into a mindset that they can't escape and cause pain to others, so that someone, anyone, would understand how much pain they are going through.

I'd hesitate to call this wise. He blames things like a lack of a job (most school shooters are just barely entering the workforce and don't have much job pressure or expectations), a lack of patriotism (very strange), and "the dark arts".
He's all over the place, but he does get it right once, I think: the spotlight given to shooters. We need to stop publishing their names or motives. These people feel forgotten about by society, and are acting in revenge. We need to, at the very least, minimize what they gain by doing that. The issue isn't social media, it isn't a lack of patriotism, it isn't "the dark arts", it's not even guns (although our approach to them could be different and less people would die I think) because plenty of other countries have that but don't have our school shooting issue.
The difference is how we treat shootings. Kids going to school these days think about them growing up, even if they have never seen one themselves they are a real threat in many children's eyes these days. When those kids grow up, the option of enacting that threat that scared them (or, at the very least, the threat they knew their peers were afraid of) was a realistic one to take.
How do we change that? It's hard to change culture like that. The driving force has to be the media, though. Stop giving the shooters a platform to spread their message for sure. Don't publish their name or manifesto. I would almost suggest not covering shootings in national TV media at all - keep it to news articles or something that children are less likely to consume, but that's iffy because then it seems like a political effort to influence the way we think about guns. There's more that can be done for sure, but the focus needs to be on what sets the only country with this problem apart - their school shooting culture.

First, you are not actually interested in solving the problem as a counselor. You can spout all of the built in defense lies to prove me wrong. At the end of the day your profession is designed to take the edge off. At best the patient fixes themselves because you are not capable of that. Also, the people who created your profession did not create your profession with that intention. Usually, you are only going to manage to take the edge off your patient just enough to string them along, The act of them coming back fulfills the requirement for you to have your job to begin with. “Mental help” is not the solution you think it is.
The Virginia Tech shooter was pushed into the mental health system and it only made him feel targeted and isolated. The shooter even stated in his video and literary manifestos that he did it because he was bullied by the community around him, and there is some truth to that statement despite his faults.
In many other cases, it’s shown that attacks like these aren’t spontaneous or out of the blue. Schools will insist it was random, but you can often find evidence that students or faculty played a role in antagonizing the perpetrator for years prior to the shooting. “Mental help” won’t erase the anger or hatred one feels. If someone punches you, it’s natural to want to punch back. You can’t medicate this stuff away, especially when each attacker had their own reasons for doing their attacks.

I’m surprised to say Von’s points are actually very insightful and I find myself agreeing with him. I think additionally the bullying culture that is so prevalent in American schools leaves those who feel like outsiders being ever more ostracized and abused. That manifests and takes over their mind. As a child it’s difficult to comprehend that high school doesn’t last forever - that’s their entire world as they know it. And if they’re being bullied and abused by their classmates and cannot defend themselves, they look to something that gives them that power. They want to see their tormentors cower in fear and feel powerless just as they did. Guns are their answer. If their world is grim and their future seemingly worse, why do they care about living? They want vengeance, and the US’s focus on guns equating to freedom and their ease of acquiring makes them their only option, in their eyes.

Alot of this is connected in ways most people cannot understand. More bullies means more kids with a shitty home life, society has ruled out discipline for kids so you cannot punish these bullies in any way that will be consequential, social media has put so much distance between us humans that we lack any empathy or care for others, social media has also taught people that they can be really hateful and mean and there will be no repercussions, schools try to charge kids with assault if they get into even a minor fight so the victims of bullying are more afraid to fight back because they will be punished for doing so. I just read an article about a kid in seattle who failed a major test because he would not adhere to their rules of gender bending. He was asked which genders could get pregnant, he answered "women", and another question was about which gender has a penis, he answered "male" and he failed for that. Our government is purposely steering us toward uneducated and ignorant ideologies because its making it way too easy for them to slowly strip our rights and unity as people. I truly think we are doomed, and I fear for the future of generations including mine.

I wasn't a school shooter, but when i was a teenager, i got real close to it.
Had it real rough during childhood,i won't go over all of it, but i got diagnosed with ptsd over it.
Kids are cruel, so when they saw that i was reclusive, acting different and had weird "ticks", they got abusive.
Years later, during high school, we moved to a new house and for some reason, the old landlord had an hunting rifle which they left there.
With life being rough, people pushing down and me being more and more mentaly unstable,
the idea of using this rifle was getting more and more frequent...also more "enticing", one could say.
I couldn't see a way out, couldn't find a point of living if my futur was to be as bleak as the past.
So taking it out on the people who were what i perceived to be the cause of most of it, felt like it would be a good idea before ending myself.
    Never did do it.
But what i want to say is, while i never did and don't condone doing it.
i can somehow understand how one can break into it.
    Some people are crazy, yes.
But when you feel incredibily down for years, give up thinking it will ever get better and have a bunch of people who keeps abusing you.
It isn't all that surprising when you snap and jump on this bad decision.

If things had turned out a little differently for me, I'm afraid that I might've become a school shooter.
In 10th grade boarding school, I was bullied relentlessly for my Autism. My peers called me a "retard" day in and day out, and used my Autism as a scapegoat to blame me for their misbehavior to me, claiming that I was the one instigating their abuse. Furthermore, they claimed that my Autism was making me hallucinate their abuse, that I was seeing things and hearing things that were never there, that never really happened. Whenever I went to the teachers for help, they refused to believe me as my bullies would often say, "he doesn't know what he's talking about. He's a retard". This school was supposedly advertised as a place that "specializes in kids with behavioral issues". But the teachers were irresponsible, and neglected their duties, as they would often shift their responsibility unto my shoulders, leaving me to deal with the situation myself, and I could only avoid them for so long without failing my classes, and even when I made it onto the Dean's List, they still refused to treat me like a fellow student.
They even manipulated me by saying that things that I were taught to be socially appropriate were socially INappropriate, like when we went to a rock concert, and I was singing, they told me to shut up saying it was rude of me to do so. Or when I kissed a girl on the hand after a dance with her, they'd pull me back a punish me saying what I did was wrong.
My world had quite virtually turned upside down.
But the story gets worse. My wrestling coach was also abusive, as he forced me to wrestle with a dislocated ribcage I had gotten in that very class by a fellow student. If I refused, I would fail and be forced to take 10th grade all over again. It hurt to even breathe that hard.
One student threatened to kill me if i told he was sneaking weed into the school. Another student made an attempt on my life trying to steal my guitar, and nearly broke my door down.
One day, when I was trying to relieve myself alone, in the showers one of them intruded and peeked at me, and soon they all decided to corner me, and would've touched me had I not taken a swing at them. But in the end, I was the one at fault for hitting them, even if it was self defense.
But the worst thing they did, was they blackmailed my only friend there to betray me. They treated us like homosexuals, which made my friend embarrassed and grow to resent me. So in order to avoid being ridiculed by them, he joined them.
Something broke inside of me that day.
I was very suicidal, not because I lost the will to live, but because I was afraid of becoming a monster. My moral compass was broken. I could no longer distinguish right from wrong, as I was being punished for doing the right things and being encouraged to do the wrong things.
I just wanted it all to end, I wanted the bullying to end, I didn't want to be hurt again anymore, and I thought the only choices were to either kill, or be killed. To either end it by killing the ringleader of the bullies who conspired against me, or to take my own life and free myself from this hell on earth.
The only thing that kept me hanging on by a spider's thread, was my belief in God.

I’ve got autism too, I was bullied a ton when I was in middle school, and while some other stuff was going on at home with an “annoying” landlord to say the least, I don’t want to talk much about it because it was really complicated . It really makes you feel horrible, so I’d write stories on google docs that were often violent just to laugh a little bit, but of course the school hounded me because they spy on you using things such as goguardian. They thought I was going to do something violent, so, they sent me to the school counselors for 30 min and then sent me off once I went through the normal routine of asking me to admit I would never kill anyone in real life. Then you go right back to being bullied, right back to the normal routine. When I got to high school things got better though.
Your faith in god really helps ya a lot, you know that god and Jesus love you. Have a great day and I hope you don’t get bullied to that level again.

Same, man. In my Sophomore year of high school I thought that everyone looked at me strangely, people constantly fought each other and stuff. Then I started searching into the school shooters, started getting into radical right wing, and wanted to graduate then make sure everyone knew my name. But what I realized was that I failed, I lived in this darkness willingly. Though in the summer before my Junior year of high school, I found a CZcams video where a man was preaching about God. Then I got on my knees and asked God to forgive me. God gave me hope and taught me how to love people.

Social media has almost everything to do with the rise in school shootings. And it's not just who they are influenced by, but kids can now be constantly reminded of their peers and classmates who they might not get along with. Before social media, these kids could just go home and watch TV or read books, or dive into any activity that would keep their mind off of their day in school. But now, and through their own impulsive curiosity, they can see other kids on facebook, or snapchat or instagram, and see where they don't fit in socially. And this leads to even further bitter resentment.

At the time a lot of things were wrong, my family was very avoidant, at school I got pushed out of any conversation cuz bullying me was a popular thing. I legit didn't talk to anyone at this crucial point of development, because everyone was pointing fingers and always united against me, even if something was obviously made up, just because picking on me was a thing. Of course, teaches did't give a damn and my parents only berated me, never taught me to stand up for mys. I was very vulnerable and didn't want anything else besides being calmly talked to, and a hug. When middle scool hit, everyone kinda forgot abt me, but I was scared to open up to anyone and was hateful for many years to come occasionally fantasising abt harming ppl on a mass scale. I'm past that point now, with age and effort it got better. It's still hard interacting with people and I am yet to form a meaningful relationship, but I'm now hopeful for the future.

You'd get punished instead of the bullies and get labled as a problem child. It got to the point where you could not take it anymore, and something inside you just snaps. You want to harm those who have wronged and harmed you. Doesn't matter what the cost is because in the end you'll finally be free of them. I imagine that is what most people are going through. I really do feel for most of them because I can relate to what they are going through.

They labelled me the villain and never punished the bully, finally in 8th grade I stood up and fought my bully, and one of the administrators walked by me in the office and asked "Are you expelled yet?" the fucking audacity to say such a thing to a child. From that day on, I had zero faith in my school and no faith in my country that they would help people like myself. Through high school, i went from being bullied to being ostracized and had no friends, COVID happened and made that situation even worse when I locked myself away in my room for almost a year and a half. I feel so sorry for kids that have to go through such a horrible system, because the public school system might as well have been bullying me too since they did nothing but stand by and watch it all unfold.

I didn't get punished, but the teacher would do nothing to stop the bullies. At one point when we weren't in school, I had enough, and moved my shirt up to show a knife in my pocket. I don't even remember if it stopped it, now. But shortly after that, I had to homeschool due to anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and OCD. Got close to committing suicide, even not being bullied. I don't say that for pity, but it gives me insight into people that have committed shootings. If I would've stayed in school with that amount of psych issues, with bullies that wouldn't stop, teachers that wouldn't stop them, and I was going to kill myself anyway, I can very well see why school shooters exist. When teachers used to beat kids that were mean to other kids with a yardstick, with parents that would beat them for being impolite, it solved alot. And even if you had a bully that would get away with it and beat a kid up, at least the kid that got beat up could eventually fight them again and turn them into a bloody pulp and people would leave them alone. Now, you'd be sued for "pain and suffering" and "medical costs". The bullies can be kids whose parents failed them, and can be so far behind in school, they really have nothing to lose by pestering someone incessantly for their amusement. I really wish my parents would have told me "beat that kid until he doesn't get up anymore", that would have saved so many hours of misery and then I could concentrate on studying and enjoying life.

I'm not sure I've heard the concept of Ikigai before but I absolutely love it. As a young person who often feels a sense of dread about the universe - whether that's climate anxiety, dwelling on the tragedy and suffering in the world, anger at systemic injustices, or straight-up depression caused by nihilism, I have found it very hard to craft a life path that fulfills all of those needs and gives me the most "optimized" sense of balance and like I've chosen the "right answer" for what to do with my life. There's no one right answer, but keeping that diagram centered on Ikigai in mind should be an excellent guide for how and why I live my life.

I feel the weight of the world's suffering very heavily, and the sad truth is I can't fix it all, nor can I sacrifice my own life balance to be devoted to the cause. Making the world a better place is a monumental and slow task that no one person can shoulder. If we can't make time to experience the joys in life and embrace the love and peace that is out there in the world simply because there's so much suffering, then that's just letting the tragedy win.

The lack of a stable home life is accurate, but it's also a complete lack of individual care and support. Personally looking back, my Dad didn't interact with me almost at all as a teenager. At school, no one talked with me ever. Not one teacher cared. I talked to my counselor twice. The first was mandatory for all students as an introduction, the second was when they called me into the office to tell me I wouldn't be able to graduate without switching schools. Even then, not a single person asked, "What is going on with you? Why are you failing your classes?". I was severely depressed from my childhood, and completely stopped doing homework all together even though I would get As on every test and class assignment. Not one person questioned. I would never have hurt someone, but I was angry and I felt like I could relate a little. At 18 I got kicked out and pretty much have just struggled through homelessness and shit jobs for the last 20 years.

Just right from the introduction, I feel you've put your finger on it! I grew up on a mining village in the 60s. We all "belonged." Employees didn't have to "promote" themselves to get ahead. There was a personnel department who would, in consultation with your supervisor, decide you are ready for more responsibility, even if it means transferring you to another mine in the group. People worked for the same company for ever. It was very unusual for someone to leave. It was a small, but entire world. Sports, recreation, housing. Obviously this could only be provided by a big company. But smaller businesses fitted in under the umbrella. If the mine was doing well and the employees thriving, the small businesses around the mine was also thriving.
I was shocked once I was in the wide world that if you worked really hard and diligently, you were assumed to be "unambitious" and content to stay where you are. You have to actively push yourself, which led to the inevitable nastinesses at the workplace, including taking credit for someone else's work. The workplace became toxic.
And then came the gig economy. Every person in the company is basically self employed. Society totally fragmented.
The business schools that propagated these theories and the management consultants and Human Resources departments who brought it about, have a lot to answer for. They destroyed what had naturally developed after the industrial revolution into a way that the capitalists could still be benevolent. - instead of destroying society, people fragmented, living in their lonely bubbles wondering how long they would still have an income and unable to plan for a future.

Tbh, we’re the problem that things like mass shootings and protests happen. Instead of loving one another, we attack, hate, or judge one another for having a different opinion, perspective on things, or even just based on someone’s looks. School shootings can be prevented if we looked at the “weird kid” or “quiet kid” and actually tried to be cool with him or her. We don’t know what peoples lives are like at home so the best we can do is try to make them feel like they’re not a stranger to everyone and encourage them to be a better version of themselves because most people like that are insecure about something or feel like they don’t fit in. Instead of speaking on their backs and saying things about them, we need to go up to them and make them feel like they’re not an outsider to society and that they’re just as equal as everyone else.

I just hide in the back away from people with my hood up listening to music and playing on my switch. People don't talk to me and to be fair it's gotten to the point that I want to be left alone, but what really hurt was when my guidance counselor pulled me into her office and drilled me about if I was having thoughts about violence. I was confused and they said that based off my lower grades, lack of friends, aversion to people and someone claiming I "looked and acted like a shooter", I was filed as an increased threat due to matching the behavior profile. I'm not a violent person at all, I'd never want to hurt someone and the concept that people are so quick to judge is sickening.

Theo done an awesome job presenting his thoughts on how it comes to be and i feel it to be extremely accurate in lots of ways as ive been on the edge of the pit hanging on with all my strength not to take it out on the few good people left in the world. Its hard to even want to be a part of this society when its so far from reality and being a decent thing to be part of. I dont want to slave my whole life struggling everyday to maintain stability while my bossman buys a new plane and new car every year ... 👈👈👈 And that my friends and fellow good people, is where the last bit of sanity and hope in the world starts to slip and you succomb to the darkness.. just a personal experience of mine I felt was worth sharing❤ I promise im not going to do anything crazy or be a "shooter" reguardless how bad it gets because I at least question it that I may not be right about everything so i cant take it out on people not knowing for sure if im the issue or them and thats probably where other people dont question it and just go rampage doing terrible things. Ferdowsi's verse aims to convey that there is no thought loftier than the one which acknowledges that God is a being with life and wisdom, similar to humans, not an imaginary deity in the sky, nor a deity that, as Nietzsche put it, is dead.
Now, whether this human is a deity of kindness and light (Ahura Mazda) or a deity of evil and darkness (Angra Mainyu) - literally as Zarathustra spoke - depends on the individual.

A lot of it too is the culture around guns. Conservatives love to point out that guns are just tools but they dont treat them as tools, you dont see a carpenter going out to the build site and posting pictures of of them flexing their new drill driver. They act like guns are so cool and manly and masculine. So when a kid grows up and learns that guns are a sign of masculinity then they go to school and get bullied, you know, get emasculated and all that. Whats the thought process?
"Oh, I'll show them how much of a man I am, I know exactly what to use to show them how cool and masculine I am" then they grab their dad's gun and do just that.

I knew an elementary school teacher with 50 years of experience. She said she was never wrong ... could pick them out, and 15 years later, they were in jail. Despite all of the extra effort, the after school mentoring, nothing helped.

I disagree. It’s been shown that psychosis is trauma related. Even in homes with ‘good parents’, if those parents are themselves traumatised and emotionally unavailable (most humans are), then damage will be done to the child in the first 4 years of life. Even if a baby isn’t lovingly held once it’s born there are serious issues down the line. And that’s just the parents who are trying. Some are so fucked from their own childhood, they’re straight up abusive. I don’t think people generally realise how far humans have to go in this respect, how traumatised we are as a species, so they call people crazy and evil because otherwise it doesn’t make sense.

There is another reason I wanna add to this that I don't usually see other people talk about.
You can be bullied in school, get into fights you lose, make a mistake, and people will hold it over your head for the rest of your life. Everyone is looking to be the hero, everyone wants a villain to beat. And they will use you to be their stepping stool, no matter the cost. Nobody looks to actually help people out anymore, they just want a villain. They want an outcast. They want an easy target.
But what happens when the person who needs help the most is the one who gets outcasted? Nobody will help them, since nobody cares. They don't care how badly that one poor guy is hurting. They don't care how hard the unseen struggle is. And now, we keep asking why we have this issue.
"It's Social Media!" Thats a part of it, but more as a symptom.
"It's Video Games" That argument is as old as the people preaching it.
"It's X Reasons fault!" Blaming it on something you don't understand doesn't change anything.
The reason why we have this issue is because nobody cares for the outcast. Nobody cares about the little guy. How long can a person take a beating before they snap, and lose their control? Nobody helped them when they needed it the most, and eventually, for as wrong as a reason as it is, they take it into their own hands, and waste a few bullets with the people they murder. Otherwise, who gives a fuck? In their heads, it's a "They didn't care about me, so why should I care about them" situation.
You want a reason? It's because nobody gives a damn enough to actually help the people who need it the most.
Help them get stronger, help them be better. And help them learn how to handle their problems with wisdom, and strength. Don't force them on it, but help them be a better person through their own talents and ideas.

While some bullying is definitely awful and relentless, I think a healthy amount definitely has the possibility to be good. A majority of it exists to correct social misbehavior. There's this idea of being true to yourself and I think some people use it to excuse themselves being terrible people. I got bullied in middle school for trying to be edgy and fit in that way, turns out when I stopped doing that I was able to make people laugh, make friends, and generally be pleasant to be around or so I've been told. Never had any trouble in social situations after that all the way through college, some of my friends from both high school and college attended my wedding recently when I was 30 so they've been good friends since. I think the approach when you perceive that you're being bullied is to be honestly introspective and look at your own behavior and see if it's enjoyable, or even acceptable, to be around. The problem with a lot of these school shooters is that there's no introspection at any point, no change has ever been attempted. They're losers and they refuse to actually be themselves because of their warped view of superiority and that rejection of them being superior hurts their ego and that ego refuses to be be introspective. The solution is to teach mindfulness early, teach how to be introspective and stop teaching "be yourself" without addressing that being oneself should take an enormous amount of change and improvement instead of some static idea of "that's just who I am." Outcasts are outcasts nearly all the time because they bring it on themselves, the ones who need it the most refuse to do anything to fix their situation.

    • @Rick-the-Swift
      @Rick-the-Swift Před měsícem +1

@@Alexander_Grant Well said. From my experience the vast majority of bullying stems from multiple parties. For instance the big playground ruffian can't stand the little nerdy kid because the little nerdy kid actually goes around thinking and saying he's smarter than everyone, so the ruffian is actually the one who feels slighted the most in the beginning, till a point where his/her annoyance with the little nerd rears its ugly head.
Then there's the parent problem, where kids are being raised and taught primarily by the school corporations. Kids go home afterward and basically are allowed or encouraged to sit in front of the tv, video games and/or social media all day and night where they learn to enjoy seeing others get owned.
Then there's the teacher problem, where many if not the majority are often small minded in this way or that, and at times they bully as well as let other kids do some bullying because in reality they are just as annoyed by some of the kids as their pupils are of some of their classmates.
Coincidentally, it turns out that the majority of kids who have parents who are willing to take the time to talk to their kids often, and not just let them slide through the system, usually end up having the least amount of problems in life as they mature from adolescence into adulthood.
For me personally, I fall into that category of kids who were often neglected by parents and allowed to slide through the system, but I had the fortune of being introspective, as you point out, which allowed me to make many changes within myself that I was in need of, which helped keep me out of too much hot water. Almost all of the ones who bullied me, ended up being my friends, as well as the few who I myself bullied.
I think you are spot on in your assessment and the ones who end up being catastrophically violent or who hold the most hatred in their hearts are the ones who never seemed to have such introspection, but instead they harbor a continuous victim mentality and feel they've never deserved anything that ever came to them.
