    NOTE:
    the lifetime warranty only applies to the shaft, the tool itself has a 5 year warranty and the battery 2.5ah has a 3 year warranty. Wanted to make this clear. My apologies for not making that clear in the video.

    Great video - thanks. I just bought this and for me it's the best breakthrough in gardening technology in quite a while. I came from a 'bullhorn' petrol brush cutter and was always breaking the 2.7mm string. I used this EGO unit for a solid 2.5 hours and did not break the 2.4mm string once. Feeding in the new line, after using up the first lot was so easy - I could not believe it - definitely worth the purchase.

    Thanks for the info. I'm ready for a new trimmer and after watching this video this is the one.
    My current string trimmer (worn out) has a universal head which means I carry several pre-cut strings in my pocket. Like most new home today I have a small yard. But to edge the flower bed, side walk and one side of the drive way meant reloading the string 8 times!!!! and I still wasn't finished, but I quit. Very happy to see you using yours to edge. So my breaking problem is the machine or the old line.
    Thanks again!

    Just purchased one of these. Also got the 650cfm blower. The string trimmer is awesome because it never got tangled in the tall grass. My old gas trimmer would clump up and I would have to disassemble it to get grass and vines out. The blower is incredible. Love them both.

    I didn’t know much about battery powered equipment, but I knew I didn’t want to mess around with fuel mixtures/carborators/spark plugs, etc. so I went and got me a 60v mower from greenworks last spring. I absolutely love it, and it’s still running as strong as the day I got it. Anyway, I wanted to get a greenworks 60v weed eater so I could swap the batteries out between my mower and weed eater. I just got it this past week, and the thing is an absolute beast. I know EGO is among the best in battery powered equipment, but man. I love greenworks. I’d like to try ego some day, but I’m amazed with where battery technology is at.

    Great Vid, I was specifically looking to see use this trimmer as in edger. I own an EGO Mower and I really like it. And I'm pretty much ready to replace my older battery-op trimmer (black & decker). It has a flip head on it and I can use it to edge my lawn (great feature back during the time when I bought it and works great, just old now). So, I'm bit on the fence on Ego's Power+ Multi-head System or just going with a individual trimmer and maybe a blower later. Anywho, just wanted to see someone actually use the trimmer as an edger and do a decent job at it. : )

    Yes, I recently purchased this trimmer also. I bought the strap too. It should of came with it.
    I have COPD I need to use the strap because the trimmer gets 'Heavy'.
    I was a bit annoyed I did not get the newer 2.5Ah battery with it.
    BTW: We had a Corgi for 16.5 (wonderful) years. He too would lick his paws during certain times of the year. Mostly late summer/early fall.
    Our vet put him on a pill that helped out a lot. I cannot remember the name of the drug but it was partly a steroid.

  • @Jaredxstp
    @Jaredxstp Před 3 lety +1

    When you weed wack with a guard on does the string auto stop at a certain length so it won’t hit the guard or do you usually cut it with a scissors to be shortened so it won’t hit the guard before you start using it. Also thanks for sharing the video. Dumb question but I’ve never used a string trimmer before

    • @TechMadeEzy
      @TechMadeEzy  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jared I used to use the guard all the time and honestly the guard has a small blade on it that will cut the remainder off. I like using it without the guard but it is a little dangerous you have to be careful especially around rocks I've got some beds that are filled with rocks I have to be especially careful around those otherwise the rocks can come up and hit me so I always wear protective glasses and gloves. I just find I can clean up my yard a lot easier with the guard off it allows me to rotate it and move it in different ways. I'm not sure if that answer your question

    Ego has a dedicated edger. I really think you should check it out instead of 'stringing' the edges with no guard, and telling us to use one.

    Honestly, the ONLY issue I have with this trimmer is that the included 2.5mAh battery doesn't last terribly long. In terms of balance, weight, and ease of use, it otherwise doesn't have a gas powered equal.

    • @TechMadeEzy
      @TechMadeEzy  Před 3 lety

      2.5 works for me but yeah if you have a larger property I'd get a 7.5ah and a backpack link, have you checked that out? I did a basic review not too long ago, here is the link

      I've received an average of 40 to 50 mins using this with the 2.5ah, it all depends on load, battery size etc, get a 5ah battery or 7.5ah for even longer run time but the tool can get heavy try using a strap or the backpack link. Here is a sample video on that

Just had my Ego mower motor and control board replaced after three seasons as well. TOOK EIGHT WEEKS at a shop one hour from my house in Denver. Ego warranty service is HORRIBLE

    Need to get the 5.0 ah battery. as a back up. While the other recharges. EGO says you can get 800 to 1000 re- charges out of a battery. Should last 5 to 6 years. If you treat it right. I suggest start putting away a few bucks a month. So after 5 years You want be having to pay out a bunch of money to replace. Talk to a service center. They said the motor should last 5 years if you don't get the inside of the mower wet. In 5 years. You will want to buy the new latest , and greatest version! Who knows. They may use a laser to cut the weeds by then!! Ha!

    You said that the EGO had a lifetime warranty several times. You should have been more clear that in fact that warranty ONLY applies to the shaft. The tool gets a 5 year and the battery gets a 3 year. That is certainly an important difference.

      I have one and it worked as well as a good electric one I used to borrow. it felt about the same weight and cut/trimmed bushes equally well but not better. The best part about it is I don't have to worry about the extension cord getting caught in the bush or accidentally cutting it.
      I can usually edge, weed whack and trim the bushes in my yard all on one 2.5A battery in about an hour. probably 30 min actual run time.

      Hi Edward, If you decide to truly get into the ego product line you'll definitely realize that you'll never buy a battery by itself always buy a battery in a kit with a tool. You can always end up selling the tool to recoup some of the money. Thanks so much for watching 👍🏻

      @@TechMadeEzy Yeah, I pretty much have most of the garden tools I need. But, my concern is with an extended use of the battery on the trimmer. If after 40 minutes it drains out, then I have to wait to charge instead of popping in another battery to finish the job.The price of a stand alone battery seems excessive, in my opinion. Why should I buy another tool to get another battery??
