Great video very helpful - not too long. Thank you.

Page 21 in the owners manual. It says in grass over 8 inches tall to work from the top down, and use the tip of the string to trim.

I kind of went all in for testing to see what it could do. I have gotten much better at using it over a season.

Do you recommend 1523S(Carbon fiber shaft, and variable speed) or 1511T(Telescopic, 2-speed, adjustable handle)? 1523S with 4AH battery is $199 and 1511T with 2.5AH is also $199. At this price point which one do you suggest?

If given the option for me to buy again I would go with the telescopic 2 speed. Mainly becuase I normally just go full throtel with the trimmer all the time and with the telescopic my short wife could use it too. With the carbon fiber one it is a little hard for her to use. for me at 5.7' it is fine. Carbon fiber will be a little lighter. Something to keep in mind.

Great review. Could you tell me how the bump mechanism feels and works. Do you need to go full speed and does it get hung up at all. How well does it feel quality wise. Do you think the power wind seems like it will last, or does it sound or feel cheap.
By the length of those weeds you should have bought this several weeks ago.

Bump mechanism feels sold I have had no issues with it. Don't even need to fully spin the weed Wacker up to get more string out. If more then is needed comes out just spin at full and it will self cut. I have not had it snag on me as of yet. Build quality for me is pretty good. I don't have a lot to compare it to but better then greenworks for sure. The power wind is dead simple and I don't think there is any chance of it dieing before the useful life span of this. I let the weeds get very bad because I wanted to stress test the weed eater.

@@Wanderer001_Reviews I have the greenworks and I’m not happy with it. Mainly just the spool design and the bumping mechanism are terrible. I’m looking for a trimmer that has an easy spool system. With the Ego I really don’t understand the reason for the shaft being in two parts. Just something more to brake as I saw in another review.. it brakes so you have to buy a new one. One screw keeping it in place. I’ll pay for the solid one.
      Thanks again for your review.

@@mrnoedahl I would have gone with a one part shaft If I could find a place near me that sold it. Knock on wood, it has not given me any issues being in two parts.

What is the difference between the ST1520S vs ST1521S?

    • @Wanderer001_Reviews
      @Wanderer001_Reviews  Před 2 lety

The ST1520S is just the tool itself, while the ST1521S comes with a battery and charger as well.

I don't know of any string trimmer that can cut ornamental grass. You'd need a brush cutter attachment which EGO doesn't make yet.

I had never had ornamental grass before. It was left by the previous owner. I thought hey its grass give it a try. I did pick up the Ego headge trimmer which did work on the ornamental grass. czcams.com/video/Vx1R3Wl44hw/video.html

A 21+ minute video for a string trimmer. Way too much fluff. Get to the point.

I like long-form reviews myself. The idea is instead of having to watch five or six short videos from a bunch of people you can watch what video and get everything that you need to know.

@@Wanderer001_Reviews long time later, I know. Great vid, feel familiar with it now. Thinking it's just more than I need. They have this one, or an update now on sale for $212 commonly. HomeDepot dropped the ego line, now it's mainly lowes, or ace who's always out of stock, or bezosplace.... And the company has just announced new models, which have more. More of size, features, weight, AND of course price. 2022.08.12

@@atlantajunglepythons1744 Such is the way of it. There is always going to be the new shiney toy just around the corner. I myself looked at the new one that is self feeding and has the ability to adjust the length of the shaft and thought I should get this. However, this one is working grate and I don't need to run out and get the newest thing. I will keep using what I have until it stops. Sadily the price of everything is going up so that did help to keep me happy with what I have.

@@Wanderer001_Reviews in myncase I'm trying to make the buy decision alone, and the main poiny\t of comparison among nodels is to learn what the features do that is important to me, see what they cost, and decide what to live with or without. Where is gets tricky is upgraded models in the same year's offering, or changed or new but similar from different years. I've decided powerload sounds aces, while lineiq is as much liked as disliked. Carbon fiber is good, but...

That's all you can do really. Find if the pros outweigh the cons and if it has the features that you absolutely need. Generally that's why I make review videos like this. They're not for everyone but people like me who are looking for all the Nuance details about a product to make an informed decision afterwards.
