- Bridge that runs over the diesel depot tracks finally gets built using the girder plates from Wills Kits. putting my own stamp on the build to make the bridge unique. straight forward side panels cannot possibly go wrong here.so he says....Happy Modelling

A nice recap and useful approach to variable span bridge building. What an exposed fiddle yard, hard to believe how its progressed to todays South Shields (overhead) Station. Stephen. PS this video came up as a suggestion, how could I resist!
Glad you enjoyed it! Stephen. its always good to look back...onwards and upwards....cheer's Tony
Hi Tony - inventive as usual. Some of those seemingly small ideas make such a difference too. Alan.
Spot on mate. if you have an idea and it works then use it, if it looks right then it is right, Chinese proverb out of a fortune cookie. thanks again Alan cheer's Tony
The bridge looks superb. The ways you solve issues like this are incredible! Thanks for always sharing your ideas.
hi Jeff well these issues are there to be solved, that's what we all do. thanks again regards Tony
Yep Tony been looking back at some older videos great work its amazing how you can adapt kits and enhance the to end with great effect thanks Tony xx
Hi Eddy. i am glad you fine them interesting, the layout has come along way since the this video was uploaded, some 81 videos ago........thank you again as always.............Tony
Great work Tony....The bridge looks excellent and fits perfectly using your technique. Looking forward to more. All the best....Tom.
Cheer's Tom. I'm running out of little jobs to do on the depot. I didn't think the two different bridges would work together. because of the different contrasts and style. but there make a great pair....thanks again Tony
Hi Tony great job on the bridge the two bridge's together look just the job very realistic and give insight on building them up thanks Tony. Regards George..
thank you George your most welcome. that's a great thing about You Tube sharing idea's, Tips, hints, and Knowledge. cheer's Tony

Thanks for the info on Duncan, just making myself a solar heater 😉
Warm days are on the way
Fingers crossed lol
Garry
Hi Gary no problem about the mention. that'll be cool a solar heater.the warm days are just around the corner as you get of a plane in Benidorm. I'm sure the seasons are all mixed up. it feels like November outside. just been fixing the guttering and that wind has got a chill you only find in a fridge freezer. Duncan 's channel you found it that's good he has got some great ideas and modelling tips. take care best wishes Tony
A brilliant looking scene Tony, wonderful and again thanks for showing how to do it. Cheers Jerry
Your Welcome Jerry. I do love when a plan sort of comes together. I will soon be looking for a easy project, if there's such a thing. take care Tony
Looks good. Thanks for showing us your capping stones jig Tony
Your welcome Ray, thanks for commenting always appreciated many thanks Tony
Very nice Tony. I have a girder bridge to build later in the year so it was good to see how you do it. Water in the water tower, I like it.
Barry.Devon.
Hi Barry. if your going to be building a bridge, using a rule does two things it keeps the bridge straight and keeps the length required. and spacing of the panels. there's always a third one. thanks for commenting all the best Tony
Looks very good I may get some . Great video .
Go on have a go and get some. they are easy to put together. If you have buttresses then they will work perfectly. thanks for commenting all the best Tony
TONY NORTH EASTERN thanks I may use them on my removable bridge section .
Hi Tony,
Loved the bridge you clever what’sit , Sorry not been around lately as taken out a wall in our cottage so trains on hold for a while. At least I can watch your masterpieces ha ha ha.
Regards Duncan.
Hi Duncan well we all have other things in life going on. luckily for me the weather is not so good. otherwise i would be working in the garden as its a jungle at the moment. hope you are keeping well take care, Regards tony
Hello mate, yes keeping fine but these old cottages need a lot of maintenance, so busy busy, keep wanting to do another tip but seems impossible at the moment. As you said the garden here also going to jungle. I might have to do a survival garden course ha ha ha ha. All the best Duncan.
great pair of bridges tony. and a wonderful scene to set them in.
well done
Cheer's Paul. the scene is slowly taken shape and the upper level is now on its way to becoming the next project.. cheer's Tony
Great work Tony Just been building one of those plate girder bridge spans myself I love how you put your together i wish i ha seen your video first your bridge looks ten times better then mine cheers .... Pete
Hi Peter, I do apologise for being late in putting this video up. your bridge can not be that bad Pete. you could rebuild it again if your not happy with it. but then again the instructions are not the best. thanks for watching. have a great weekend regards Tony
Hi Tony, Nice bridge. Another source of bridge plate girder panels is the old Airfix/Dapol turntable kit.
Thank you for commenting, I have already used those on a bridge leaving high shields heading towards the new bridges, but yes they are a great source for Bridges. I would probably be using some more of those as they are 5 more bridges to build. cheer's Tony
Excellent layout.Ilve subbed.
Thank you thanks for popping by cheer's Tony
On nightshift again you always make the shift better with the video looks really good you do seem to have a lot of patience I tend to throw things together and fill any gaps later.....so you are very welcome to come sort out my muddle ups any time kind regards Rob
Hi Rob the dreaded night shift i use to work those many years back. not good but it pays the bills. you need to have a some patience. and the things will go together with ease. sorting out the muddles if you do mine i will do yours hows that. thanks for commenting regards Tony
Sounds like a plan to me Tony kind regards Rob
It was a plan my friend....all the best Tony
Interesting An excellent video, Keep up the good work :)
Thank you for commenting best wishes Tony
The mismatch of bridges along the length is very prototypical looking. It’s going to be an epic span once finished. You say there is going to be a board going over the fiddle yard to extend the bridge lines, what happens after that? Is there a section where it joins back to the rest of the layout? Paul
Cheer's Paul
I really like that blue you used, almost like a washed out BR blue. Whats the colour and make Tony, might try a paint effect on a loco with that and see if i can get what i think will look washed out.
hello yes, the colour is a Humbrol 157. its a bit like a RAF blue. it would look great on a loco. like a run down weathered diesel. best wishes Tony
That looks great Tony. If only Wills made N scale stuff :(
Have you tried making some out of 2mm thick cardboard and some 1mm card cut into fine strips. I'm sure it can be done. its worth a go....all the best Tony
I may give that a go Tony, thanks :)
The girder plate bridge looks great Tony, I have used those before on a previous layout and find them very easy to work with.
The only down side to them is you only get one riveted plate per sprue, I think it would have been better to have two of each, what do you think?
Michael
Hi Michael, they should put two of each in the set per sprue. then you could equal them out to make look even more realistic. I will have do it all again for the next Bridge that crosses the road next to the one I have just built. there are so many different types of side panels for the bridges so you can really mix them up. just come back from the local model shop and oxford rail have started to produce buildings now, St Marys Church and a GWR signal box, both building's the detailing looks superb and at a reasonable price. the pennies stayed in my pocket this time.. best wishes Tony
Thanks Tony, I'm looking forward to your next video, whereabouts is your local model shop? The nearest shop to me is 'Pooley's Puffers' on the Team valley Industrial Estate but it is still a 20 minute drive from me.
I will have to have a look at the new Oxford Rail buildings.
All the best Tony
Michael
Hi Michael, my local model shop is Wicor Models Porchester near Portsmouth. 30 minute drive...and about 5 and Half hour drive to yours in the team valley. when I lived in south shields my local shop was in Newcastle Called. The Model Shop. but I think its gone now....regards Tony
Hi Tony, was that the model shop at Marlborough Crescent behind the bus station?
Michael
Hi Michael It was a 10 minute walk from Newcastle central station. it had two floors the upper floor was where the model railways were. I thinks it has moved now even closer the railway station. its been a few years since I visited that store now. my first ever trip into a model shop was Beaties in Newcastle I must have been around 6 years old and it was my first ever train ride from shields to Newcastle. on a all blue DMU. came away with a white dinky ambulance. I still remember it as if it was yesterday. my auntie chasing me as I was about to get on the wrong train in Newcastle. cheer's Tony
