SO happy to have Gabe on full-time
I ran into Jim Halpert the other day and he asked me an interesting question. "Did you know Gabe's last name is Lewis?"
I had a student ask me very seriously if I had eaten lunch. I said no, I didn’t have time. She said, “Mrs Townsend, you don’t look good. Your sugar’s low, you gotta eat something right now. We’ll be quiet and wait.” She was of course right, my glucose level had tanked. I asked her about it later and she said she was really worried because she took care of her grandmother and knew it was dangerous.
🥰 THIS is a beautiful story and should make you feel so loved! Thank you for sharing!
If you can, you should talk to teachers that taught in the seventies and eighties and found out how they managed their time. I don't recall seeing teachers overly stressed out and not having time for lunch like they are today. In fact, several members of the female faculty at my HS looked as though they could try out for the varsity cheerleading squad. They all seemed happy with their career choices and their lives in general. Of course, the average American woman is forty pounds heavier than her counterpart from forty three years ago, so perhaps that may be a factor.
@@zephead843 I taught in the 80s. Things have changed.
Omg I can’t believe I found this. Mrs.Townsend had been my teacher for so long I love her and miss her so much she passed away from cancer last month I got to see her a day before she died and was at her funeral. I love you Mrs.Townsend.Say hi to God for me!!!🥰 Rest in peace…😭 everyone is doing ok (and before anyone says anything I know she died so this is a wishful and special message to her)
My first job as a dental assistant was in a pediatric office & I was 19 years old, & had acne, not terrible acne but definitely acne…& I’ll never forget when I was in the consultation room with this little 5 year old girl and her dad before bringing her back and she just out of the blue asks me “why do you have those spots on your face?” 💀 that was the worst lol
My first year teaching, I was trying to be “cool” and make direct instruction a bit more interesting for my 6th grade math students, and I was sitting crisscross applesauce on a table and they were sitting on the floor in front of me. It’s going well until…I have to lean forward a bit…and a girl asks “Miss, are you pregnant??” No baby I am not 😭
Not - “Barbara!” “Omg barbara say excuse me.” “I didn’t fwat” 💀 dying of laughter
lmao rofl i know right ?!
This feels like a therapy session 😂
Fr
I am so happy that Gabriel is full time!!! Definitely watching!!!!
The worst is being roasted as a compliment. I am student teaching at a performing arts school for dance. So I always teach in dancewear so one day I dressed in normal clothing and my hair was straightened for a formal I had that weekend. My students walked through the door and went “Ms. Ruffin” you really thought you ate huh? Then blankly stare at me for a good 60sec before going yea you ate it looks good. Like thanks for the mini heart attack
I also coach and had a little preschooler go ms Kira remember when I used to like you and just pause I got so scared she then after her dramatic pause goes well I still do
I conclude kids will give me jumpscares no matter the age
During Covid we were wearing masks and at one point I took mine off to demonstrate how to pronounce a word and a student tells me later “did you know that your teeth are kind of yellow?” 😅😂
how do you resist saying something back 😭
Daaaaaaamn I would have wanted to roast them right back lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Never missing another show now! So glad he’s on here permanently!
So I wanna put a story from my school here : we had a first year teacher as our reading/English teacher but the kids in the class were a pain in the butt one kid shouted something offensive at her while the rest of the kids just kept talking and yelling in her class she progressed to curl up on the carpet that we had and started crying the administration had to come in and take her out because she was having a breakdown so I will never ever forget that moment it was in 2nd grade by the way. I loved that teacher tho
OMG
It doesn't even have to be students! My 5yo nephew was on the phone with his dad and randomly said, "Uncle Ben has a big squishy belly". Like ok cool, thanks for putting me on blast kiddo. I'm gonna go cry in the kitchen 😂
Omg you all have me rolling on the ground. The best Sunday routine 💜
I lost it when Tell called Gabe a happy meal. Love this episode
I lost it when I found out his last name is Lewis.
Yesss🤍, I’m so excited for the upcoming episodes! Y’all look so good! Lauren’s look is giving it all🖤👏🏾.
I’ve been watching since the first episodes ~og blue wall~ and you guys have made this so big ! It’s like a whole new sub section in podcasts y’all’ve led
Sometimes my class drove my fifth grade teacher a little crazy and sometimes she threatened to cut her hair (she never really did) There was this kid in my class (the very good kid kinda innocent) and she threatened to cut her hair and the kid said Ms.Chen if you are going to cut your hair you should start with that long grey one, and every one (including the teacher) started DIEING laughing! The other teachers where shocked that it came from that one kid lol.
I absolutely love listening to you all, btw @MrWilliamsprek , I am also a prek teacher and you have me ROLLONG laughing at your foo Foo stories 🤣 😂 and like HOW did that kid know?! Lol
IKR. Also taught it briefly and I knew he was the first time I heard his vocabulary lol.
This is my favorite thing to watch 😃 so excited foe more videos!
So excited!!! I love the 3 of you together!
One: I’m so happy I work in an infant room and 2 year old classroom where I can blame it on the kids. 🤣 I know bad teacher. Also when I was covering for a 3 year old class and I broke my acrylic nail and I was telling the teacher next to me and said idk how my nail broke and student told me “it’s because you didn’t take care of it” my ego was so bruised.
All y’all are too cute: “I’m old” 🤣
Over 50 and still getting roasted by my high schoolers!
Tbh just had to get on here and say. I am not a teacher but I have always loved and respected most of my teachers (the good ones that are respectful to their students too. Had a couple really awful teachers growing up) I love you guys so much I just went and subscribed to your podcast lol. Got 4 hours of custodial work where I can listen to you guys lol. I hope you guys get the publicity you need and that people will really start realizing how much teaching support needs to change!! You guys are amazing!!
Lauran looks so cute in glasses!
You guys are great together I'm laughing so hard!! 😂
Gabe just makes me smile! Love that he is on full time now!
One time, my teacher came in with straight hair and some highlights, so we commented on them. Turns out they were just her grey hairs showing and we were laughing forever
Lauran, Gabe, and Tell! These are the perfect hosts for this podcast!
The old host were better tbh
Here's a fun fact: Gabe's last name is Lewis.
Yay for Gabe being full-time!!!
Congratulations, Gabe. You deserve it.
OK I’m like watching the slate but I cannot realize that there was the emperors new groove in this show podcast. I am in like a big play for the city that I live in for the emperors. New groove.
Literally just cheered having Gabe full time
My students used to roast me constantly... I worked with ESL students and when I was with the 4th graders one time we were talking about one of the vocab words for the week which was "doubt"... I asked if someone could use it in a sentence and one of the girls raised her hand and I select her and she goes "I doubt you'll ever find a husband." That girl always had a way of roasting me (very close to my insecurities too lol). Another time I was like "you guys are not getting any candy because of your behavior." and she was like "that's ok. you should eat it. You kind of skinny" (little did she know I was trying to gain weight lol).
Even the 1st graders would roast. Why did one day I didn't shave my legs and I was working with them at a table and two of them start pointing and laughing asking "Why so hairy?" and roasting my hairstyles too lol
P.S. I LOVE this podcast. It makes me laugh out loud. The stuff that happens in schools makes a teacher feel like we're being punk'd and looking around like is Ashton Kutcher going to show up because this is crazy...
Kinda missing the old hosts now 😢
Yep me to!
I haven't watch 4 a bit. What happened to the old hosts?
@@mesmerize6948they said it was toxic and left
Did they say how it was toxic?
Kinda the same
"I'm going to go jump off of something tall" freaking DIED!!!!!!!🤣 🤣 🤣
Gabe! Nice to have him :)
"That's what he said."
Yes, so exciting! I've loved all of your guests, though
(But he's our fave)
Y’all are so fun!
My last name is Inman and my first year teaching I put my name on the board. A wise cracker senior called me Miss Enema. So I said I sure thought by the time you made it to 12th grade you could read better.😂
That same year on Sat night before Easter some students toilet papered the trees in my yard. My ex was an associate preacher so it had to get cleaned up before church bc we lived in the parsonage. First I took pics and got them developed that day. I made a whole bulletin board about it with all the pictures. When the kids came in they were shocked and said that didn’t even make her mad. I laughed and said I’ve been waiting all year for this and I watched y’all do it🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm 15 and I loved the emperors new groove omg
Towards the end of the year I sometimes challenged my 8th graders to do their impersonations of me, with a prize for the best. They were hilarious and usually several nailed me. I also used to ask them what I did that drove them crazy. One year someone sighed and said in the most exasperated voice, “it’s that damned pencil!” I did not realize that I had a habit of tapping my pencil on the side of my podium. I told them to call me out politely until I broke the habit.
😂😂😂 You are very brave to open up that door of impersonations! Your classroom must be so much fun!
Okay, Lauren. Stay clatchety 😂 👏👏👏👏
I love this
32:21 "Gabe.., no, that's OK, Happy Meal over there."
The SHADE ☻️☻️☻️
Rodger from Doug- that's good and you further dated yourself with that reference 🤣 Loved that show enough to dress up as Doug once for my HS theater banquet at the end of the year.
I was fully prepared for the kids’ space comment to be “Uranus”. 😂
I bet that hurt his soul…….
Gabe I relate to the basketball thing. I'm 11 years old and I'm 5'5 and I almost never miss when I shoot, but at the same time I've never played a game of basketball in my life ever.
When I was in 8th grade my social studies teacher was a bigger guy he was the sweetest and had the best sense of humor! He goes on to say “Iran for many years..” and I immediately yell out “NO YOU DID NOT!” The whole class burst into laughter and he couldn’t help but laugh either!😂😂
love the new people, but where did the others go? teaching out of state or sum?
I was thinking the same thing
im 41 but i still grew up with things like bewitched, taxi, Gilligan's island, i dream of Jeanie, because in the areas i lived they were still airing the re runs as they were still popular
It looks like a collage frat party in there❤😂
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MR MCTIKTOK!!!!! He jokes about students roasting him all the time!
Those are my favorite movies as well!
Is it weird that I listen to this pod cast when I sleep
Can you guys please discuss issues like students self harming and what that’s like from a teachers perspective?
Ive had kindergarteners toot and it was so bad we had to clear the room.
This entire channel is wonderful! Imo this is one of the most socially difficult times to be a teacher. A while ago, a whole lot of people in news, media marketing, and politics learned that you can get more audience, votes and viewers if you stop trying to teach people things and just start trying to sell them things.
The fundamental difference being that teaching is built upon the implicit assumption that your audience doesn't know everything and should make the effort to learn this new thing that may challenge and disprove the things they already believe.
While selling things is all about telling people that they already know everything necessary, everything they believe is correct, and that they should buy the thing you are selling because it was specifically made for them and will effortlessly and painlessly fit into everything they already believe.
Successful teaching relies upon getting people to make the effort to learn something new that may challenge what they already know, while successful selling is all about telling people that they already know everything they need to know and that the thing you are trying to selling them will fit perfectly into that with no effort on their part.
They both make you feel special but in different ways. It's the difference between how special you felt when someone you loved took the time to teach you how to ride a bicycle and how special you felt when someone you loved threw you a birthday party. Both made you feel good, but in different ways and with waaayyy different levels of effort required on your part.
Today, the vast majority of media, news, and politics have adopted the marketing approach and abandoned the teaching approach. We are promised effortless birthdays left and right in exchange for our votes, check-marks and money.
But very rarely are we offered that someone will take the time to teach us how to do something that will require both our own effort and the possibility of recognizing that we were wrong about something we used to believe. Very rarely does anyone try to "sell" the idea of working with us instead of doing all the work for us.
IMO that's one of the biggest philosophical hardships of being a teacher these days. In a world where students are being sold the special feeling of getting effortless birthdays left and right, it is incredibly difficult to "sell" them on the special feeling of working with someone to learn how to ride a bicycle.
The love of learning and the love of being entertained are too very different things and teachers are in the unenviable position of trying to teach an audience that in now more than ever always expecting to be entertained.
What you do is amazing and channels like these are incredibly helpful to teachers and potential students alike.
If I had a dime for every-time a Pre-K student asked me if I was a boy based on my haircut🤦🏼♀️😂
I had a bleach blonde asymmetrical hairstyle with an undercut, and without fail ANYTIME I would get it trimmed I would get asked that same question “are you a BOY!?!?”😂
So one year (since I too was very into theater and had a music background) was asked/guilted to dress up at Christmas and go around to all the classes. I honestly didn’t mind until the management started putting more and more ideas into the mix but not paying for the ideas they were suggesting😬 They had asked me to dress as Mrs. clause but at last minute I decided to go as an elf from just stuff I had in my closet (bc they couldn’t supply the costume and wanted to see if I could rent it as a “favor to students” and that I could keep the costume for future plays and events??? umm, no😂 lol)
Anyways, I had to go to classes that I hadn’t been to and act as an elf and EVERY CLASS like clockwork asked what was wrong with my hair😂 So after about 3 or 4 times I started telling the children that I was in a sleighing accident with Santa back in 97’ and that I got a little to close to the side or a building as we were flying through town. Obviously none of the kids were listening or had any idea what I was saying, so then I just said “it’s from Frost Bite, all my hair fell out!”😂
😂
"He didn't know what a shower was haha no but he was so nice"
Oh so you roasting tf out of old coworkers too I see cuz DAMN
Missed opportunity!! You could have said, “Ba da ba ba bald, not loving it”! 😂
Tbh I have made a fart sound mimic!😂😂😂😂
Also my students EVERY YEAR for years somebody asks me if I’m wearing a wig. Last year, one student asked if they could pull my hair. I don’t wear a wig!
One more thing, my class figures out that I’m easy to scare with a jump scare. They hide under my desk all the time to get me. I know they’re there, but they still get me! Idk what’s wrong with me! 😂😂😂😂
I just turned 41. 30’s we’re so much better than my 20’s.
Gabe and I have a lot in common in the classroom
Told a kindergartener my birthday is on Christmas day. She asked me if I was born on the first Christmas. No, not over 2000 years old.
Not knowing emperors new groove is a CRIME 😭
So I haven't worn makeup in like forever because depression but one day I did my hair and makeup and I was kinda feeling myself, and I turn to my preschooler and ask her if mommy looks pretty and she said I looked like Michael Jackson.
I love this ❤❤
At 28:29, I have a funny age story. We have a newspaper club(which I am president of) and someone interviews staff and others during lunch. I read it, and it was about a gym teacher, he looked young. For the question, how long have you worked here, he said 25 years. We thought he was around 30.
The emperor's new groove is my favorite movie ever
he used to be an adventurer
I had morning sickness while student teaching, but we weren't telling anyone that we were expecting yet, so I had to try to hide it. I put chicken noodle soup broth in my coffee Cup hit crackers in my pencil Box and I took a lot of Baton breaks. It wasn't until we announced that we were expecting that my advisory teacher was like well that explains all the trips to the bathroom I thought what is this chick up to and now I realize you're just going to throw up cause you had morning sickness
Gosh you guys have to look up hot pepper gaming lol
Lauren is SLAYING three outfit
Yea I’d blame a kid for a fart lol
I was that 5th grader walking into class with a bag of hot Cheetos… now im a 26 year old mommy of 2 up at 12:45am eating a bag of Baked Hot Cheetos Lime 👀😅❤️ Delicious 👌🏼👩🏻🍳 BTW I LOVE TAKIS
One time in 6th grade I let out the stinkiest fart and everyone knew it was me because I was laughing my head off and I honestly didn't know it smelled bad until like five minutes later 🤣🤣🤣
Oh the way to counter the roasts, is to beat them to it…. I’m always like whatever, I’m just a fat old man… “oh you’re not old, you’re not that fat” or “don’t say things like that about yourself” so then I tell them it’s ok, I’m under no delusion that I’m skinny, or young for that matter. So they can’t go there.
Lol meanwhile im 30 and in my junior of school to just START teaching. Guess im old. By the time im in a classroom ill be ancient!
We're drowning in plastic. Please exchange your disposable cups with recyclable aluminum ones. Ball makes them and I use them all the time.
Outdoor ed here, and we were doing animal tracking. It has an animal race first though to be fun. I had a cast on my arm, so I showed them how to do it. Then they all did it with three "legs" I'm like what why are all you doing it weird? It hit me that they were doing it as if they had a cast on, and I'm like hey that's so mean guys.
😢 awww Tell’s nose looks fine. It’s sad that he feels insecure about it. He doesn’t need plastic surgery.
Not me being 5'6 and feeling super tiny 🥺🤣
I’m 15 and grew up on Emperors New Grove
Thats what my teenage sons to me😅
gabe was a fantastic addition
"That's what he said."
Yay welcome Gabe!
I was going to school and get in line to get in the school. The line stop because 2 teachers got robbed in the back of the school. The robber were teenagers and they had a gun. So the police were involved to make sure we were safe. So my school let us walk to are houses or cars so teachers walk us there for like 4 weeks
I'm 43 and trained my son to tell people who ask him how old I am... my mom is 30 again. LoL
Imagine the students of these people finding this video😂
Those are a lot of solo cups lol. Y’all aren’t either parched or breaking the ice.
Gay and 30's is the best. I'm with Mr Williams lol
I had to watch this twice because I couldn’t figure out who Gabe looked like it’s a mix between Anakin Skywalker and Charlie Puth .
Wait until you are a senior citizen
Ah. So Gabe would have been a basketball player but he took an arrow to the knee. He needs a sweet roll.
Bruh I always get roasted.. but now? I roast back. Most of the time it’s my hair or outfits. For example, I got braids and first things one of my students said was how did you grow your hair so fast? Did you use castor oil?😂💔 then I took it down and they were like what happened to your hair?!?😅💔 I teach 12th grade
LOVE Empirer's New Groove
I don't let my 5th and 6th graders watch Mean Girls.
Is it just me or gabe looks like matpat 😂
...I'm 35 and have never seen mean girls
Heading Gabe is 6’5 😮💨
Do the 1 chip challenge
🤣
