My only wish is that I could like this more than once. What a power voice in my life and existential understanding. I wish to God I could have met Dr. Rev. Cone in my lifetime.
what a breath of fresh air. Ive been struggling with my faith, i felt like all the Christians in my community were ignoring the poor and the oppressed. I was thinking about the #BlackLivesMatter movement in light of Jesus Christ. Its sad that there is not one unified church in America. Instead the reality is that there is a white Church, a black Church, a brown Church and so on. As a Mexican American and Christian I can not ignore the plight of my people and that of my African American neighbors. Finally I discover a theology that marries social change and Jesus Christ in a relevant way. Can't wait to read this book.
Don't worry about other people, take care of your own house first. Just like this victim, he's too worried about how he's getting fucked. Everyone gets fucked!!! Take care of your own house FIRST and take action on what you control - you and your attitudes.
I get the overarching message he is trying to convey - Black people are resilient and full of powerful hope which has helped us survive atrocities committed against us by caucasians. HOWEVER, I do not condone encouraging Black people to continue to believe in a false religion that will never lead us to justice or end white supremacy- no matter how well that false religion gives them a false sense of hope, a hope that never comes...
I hear you sister. I go between my Christian upbringing and agnosticism or anything but. Though I must say. There is a revolutionary and undying message of radical love buried in the scriptures. The revolutionary aspects can be the proactive call to act. There is nothing anyone can give us, because it was never theirs to give, God gave it to us in whatever incarnation also ours to take back.
Get over it..u don't write for me friend. And no mention of the almost 650,000 Americans that died in the civil war huh? Fighting for that freedom...want to keep your ass in the past? Move on brother.

Much love brother it really hurts. We can only get better. It’s starts with us.
We need more men and women whom are not afraid to speak truth to power.
"I speak and I write for all people who care about humanity." Powerful.

This man is a moral force of nature. I'm blown away...
34:19-35:26 Great critique of "love the sinner, not the sin."

Is it a problem of color of skin or problem of the sinful heart of man, because the heart is broken?
