- On the way to Matara with the scooter, I have stopped by the road to have lunch. These two gentlemen welcomed me and I got a chance to try the cheapest Curry & Rice in whole Sri Lanka. No doubt it was a very good lunch as any Rice & Curry I tried on the island. As always delicious and a little spicy! Find out about the price in the video.

you are correct, egg is for extra protein. the way you eat rice and curry is the proper way, mix all them together. and we like vlogs like these.

It's really really cheap. Rice & cruy with dried fish and a egg .also large bottle of water and a cup a milk tea. Village guys are very honest and very nice. Same price for everyone.

Matara rice and curry you can find in any district💯.They are often called "Matara Bath Kada". This is because matara people have often spread their businesses all over the country. People in the whole Southern Province as a whole are well known for their hospitality ... 🥰Congratulations friend🥳

It is cheap for foreigners since you are converting it into dollars. However, when you compare it with their earnings in rupees, it is very high for the locals.

Lol today I eat the exact same thing as you. Rice. Eggplant and dry fish. Potato curry. And a fried egg. Also I had green beans.
The fried egg is completely normal for us yes. With the rice. Especially when you are eating by hand you mix the yellow part it's like an extra sauce.

What you ate here is a simple and traditional Sri Lankan village menu. The rice is called Red Rice, the dry fish (sprats) tempered in oil with onion , dhal curry and the famous coconut sambol. This kind of menu is what people would eat in a regular basis which is cheaper without major proteins like meat. The source of proteins is gained by alternatives like eggs, dhal and fry fish. Rs200/- is unbelievably cheap for a meal, bottle of water and a cup of tea.
