- I'm going to show you how to inspect your 2v heads and install them. These are very simple procedures if you are on a budget and can't afford to pay someone to build an engine or if you are DIYer that is comfortable and confident with building an engine.
20 videos later, finally someone actually shows you how to use the spring compressor instead of fast forwarding through it.
Man you know that motor.... I hope to have this level of knowledge at some point. I was forced to take turbine engines in college instead of combistion motors because that class was in the way of my Navy obligations...
I'll be 1000 percent honest with you, I battle demons. Its a struggle every day. I learned by hands-on experience and reading, its my way of tricking my brain into being occupied. I've never taken a class. If I can do it, you definitely can!
@@streetslayers410 im with you man I'm trying to teach my self the basics with my MGB and to surround myself with good friends and a good network so when I try something crazy on my Mustang I'm not left stranded haha

😎 LETS GO!
Great video🔥Something affordable for most everyone. Great information and easy to follow instructions. Nice job man.
Have a great day sir 👋🏼
Thank you sir! You're a class act! You have a great day as well.
Had a issue with a 2 valve one time.. all the valve guides were broke.. didn't notice it till we tried crank the salvaged engine we bought..lesson learned 😂.. great video!!
It makes a lovely chatter lol
So much good information in this video , great job bro 😎
Thanks broski!
Knowledge is power. Thanks for sharing!
Amen
Im not gona lie. I took notes. That 2k gt is looking good. I dug out my teksid block. Ordered new npi pistons for it.
I just dropped my teksid off at the machine shop today
Awesome video Bro. A lot of good info 💪
Thanks brother!!
Great videos man, I’m a pushrod guy so I love learning this stuff even though I may never need it 😂
Awesome! I was a teenager when The Fast and the Furious came out so my friends all bought 4 cylinder overhead cam cars. They would break them and I fix them lol but when I realized that the 4.6 is basically two 4bangers put together, it was easy.
time to come to the dark side ..no fox.. lol
@@NexGenCarGuys when I do it will be Godzilla 😂... oh that has pushrods lol
@@NoFox_Given heck yea!!! Lol 😆
great vidios buddy keep it up...
Thanks
Finally a video I've been looking for
😎
Thanks for the video great explaining what important. Question with boosting a stock 4.6 2v around 500hp as a daily driver are the piston and rods weak links under boost? 🤔 Thank you
You're rolling the dice past 400hp with stock rods and pistons
Awesome video

I have new heads on the way and getting ready to put the top end back on. The bottom end looks good so not doing a rebuild. This is my truck and not looking to make more power I just want it back on the road and running well. just replacing timing set new NPI heads and all sensors, oil pump, and new starter.
Nice video man ! Good Info and I am too a big fan of inspections 👍👍
Thanks for checking it out!
@@streetslayers410 for sure !!! 💪
@@DiablitoSpeedz I subbed to you btw and sent others your way
@@streetslayers410 I really do appreciate that man. Hopefully I can grow the audience a bit more and start sending them your way too. Clean stuff your doing over there. Keep it up. 💪
Thats what its all about man. Im a nitrous guy so I'm gonna binge watch your videos this weekend
I’m curious if you’ve ever done valve guides in your garage? I been looking into it and I’m gonna give it a try on my 4v.
Yes! Use an old valve and a stack of washers. Buy the valve guides with the stoppers on them. It makes life easier so you don't have to measure or reem.
Another great video.
Thank you sir!!
Awesome video brother👍
Thank you sir!!

I may be "the man" Al but you are "the man that the man wants to be"

Nice video!!
Thanks!
Hey Kirk question for you, did you have to degree the cams after you install the PI heads ? Do you really need to do it? I will appreciate your advice. Thank you !!!!
It's not necessary. You have to buy aftermarket parts like adjustable cam gears or crank sprocket. If you are looking to really dial it in and get all of the power, then yes.
@@streetslayers410 Thank you very much !!!!
Does the manual tell you how to find the camshaft neutral position?
Boosted 931 sent me just subbed 🤟🏾🤟🏾💯
Thank you! I subbed back
@@streetslayers410 Your welcome and thank you!
Are the lash adjusters, the only NEW parts u would recommend? Any other new parts i should be looking at for a RELIABLE budget build?
Thanks for the video.
Does your passenger side head have two holes where the lash adjusters go?
Budget Build. What is a budget build these days? How much are you expecting to spend on all of this?
did you apply anything to the head bolts before putting them in ?

Hey there, thanks for the video! I just bought a '97 Mustang GT. I'm no mechanic by trade, so I'm trying to learn the 4.6 2V the best I can. Unfortunately, my project car turned into a bigger project car I believe. Coolant started pouring out of it (as in, all of the coolant), and after a few days of disassembly, I figured out that it is pouring out of the exhaust manifold... yikes. I was trying to source the leak and could trace it up as far as the passenger side bolt that bolts the exhaust manifold to the mid-section of the exhaust. Then I started to take the mid-section off, and when I took off the bolts where the mid-section connects toward the rear, about a full cup of coolant came out. Any ideas what would cause coolant to be able to get into the exhaust manifold? I'm guessing either a cracked block, cracked head, or best case a bad head gasket. I was trying to use your video as reference to see where coolant could get into those ports, but you have more experience looking at these heads. Any input would be amazing. Thank you!
Wow that's a lot of coolant. There is a lot it could be but my best guess is that you have a bad cylinder head.
@@streetslayers410 Thank so much for the response on an old video haha! That's what I figure as well. The valley is completely dry, so I didn't really think it'd be an intake manifold (although it is the original plastic crossover manifold). I suppose my only option is to just tear it apart and see!
@@thomaslochner9068 good luck! If you run into any problems just message me
@@streetslayers410 Thanks again man!
Where did you get your gasket kit from ?

Nice I'd like to find a 93 GT
Thanks! I'd like to find a 93 too
just found your channel and was hoping for some help i have a 2v that’s overheating on idle if the hood is closed i noticed some white smoke and water out the exhaust i tried a gasket sealer and it stopped the smoke but still overheats if the hood is closed im thinking the heads are cracked its an 03 gt pretty sure i got scammed so any help would be appreciated
Oh wow. Unfortunately, you have big problems. I would personally take the engine apart to find the problem. Some people have luck with block sealers, I'd recommend doing a chemical flush before and after for the best results. Remove the thermostat and bypass the heater core, replace the water pump, drain the coolant and replace with distilled water several times, when you have majority distilled water in the system do a chemical flush, repeat drain and replace with distilled water, when have majority water use block sealers, then chemical flush after sealer takes effect, the drain and replace with 50 coolant/50 water
@@streetslayers410 Sadly I believe the previous owner had done just that, when i bought it he stated that the water pump was replaced and that it fixed the issue i saw the new pump and when i drove it there was no problems so i purchased it but my first long drive came and on the way back home it overheated, I bypassed the thermostat did the chemical flush as well before and after i used the sealer and it worked for a bit but one day on my way to work at a red light it happened again and its been sitting since then, i start it once a week to move it but if i let it idle for too long it does the same, im thinking of either swapping in a 5.3 i have sitting that ik runs good or replacing the heads, i am up to the task but im not sure how i would know if its just the heads or even which one it would be
@@eldesmadres8945 most likely it would be the bank that the water was coming out of. You can "read" the spark plugs or try a compression test.
@@streetslayers410 compression test was going to be my next step and what do you mean by reading the spark plugs? would there be rust
@@eldesmadres8945 there will be very noticeable deposits on the spark plug that was in contact with coolant
Where are you located?
In the Baltimore area
Is probably better off to just get a machine shop to resurface two heads instead of scrape with a razor that will never clean it completely
When you put the cam in. I would like to know how you know where the cam marks need to be before I bolt it down. You said a neutral position. What does that mean if you don't mind me asking? I've only have built a chevy 350 engine this looks way easier though.
