Rich Roll was the perfect guy to interview these two. Having an intimate knowledge of triathlon and training himself. Just wish it was a bit longer. Nice one!
Less talking by the interviewer and more by the interviewees

Mm
I wish this went for 2 more hours. Enjoyed it to the max!
I could listen to these athletes talk about training for hours and hours. Also love their banter and friendly competition. Really enjoyed this one.
To be the very best, one must live the very best, attention to detail, commitment to the goals, these guys and Olav have it all. They deserve all of the success they experience as athletes and as great human beings. A pleasure to listen too.
"...no sign of him blowing..." đ€Ł Excellent episode! As a triathlete on hiatus after having a baby, all this fires me up to get back in!
This is amazing. Watching the training videos on Mikelâs CZcams channel over the last few years it isnât hard to see how they accomplished what they do. It is hard work, use of data and marginal gains, all in the same direction overtime that lead to BIG accomplishments.
Interestingly the success of the Norwegians is the opposite of what Lionel Sanders keeps missing doing by changing his training plans every time he misses his goal.
it's impressive how synchronized they are at speaking/talking also, one at a time, turn after turn and so calm and chill vibes.
Maybe because elite athletes are always tiredđ tired person is a chill person
Can't wait for the episode with Olav Aleksander Bu
âHe said I should give more credit to the island and less to my lucky hatâ âAnd, did you take that in?â âNoâ đ
Hands down, best triathlon podcast episode made to date!
This is incredible. Please get back to having more amazing athletes on the show, Rich!!!!
Thanks so much for everything Rich! Love ever episode and love listening to you. Keep doing and keep striving â€
Yay! I'm so excited to see this episode come up! Long time RR listener, late to life triathlete with a 13 year old triathlete Who loves these two and met these two at the Collins cup this year.
Could listen to these two all day. Looking forward to the podcast with Olav!
I listened it in Spotify, now I have to watch it here⊠I enjoyed it so much, and I think that we can learn even more from it.
Watching iden and Blu running in milkal's vlog inspired me to start running again, now it's two months of running daily . they are so inspiring.
Amazing interview. K and G are just so nice to listen to. They speak out their mind, no bs. It is easy when you are so good!
Such an amazing interview thanks Rich Roll for always keeping it interesting and exciting!!!
Amazing to hear the differences in how they train and Kristian's lactate response haha, I'm so excited to hear from Olav
I have attempted to meditate many times in my life and prior to this CD the only success I've experienced is with live guided meditation. czcams.com/users/postUgkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq This is the first CD I've used that cuts through my unmedicated ADHD and enables me to truly relax and experience a quiet and energizing interval. The instructors voice is very soothing and pleasant to listen to. I am easily able to sit successfully through the entire CD, and for quite some time after. I cannot adequately express how tremendously helpful this CD has been on my spiritual journey!! Two thumbs up and 10 stars!
Man, this was great. Watched the entire Ironman for men (and the women's race too). Two long days but so worth it. Glad you're shining the spotlight on the sport, Rich.
Learned a lot, thank you all three. Hope to see them again and Olav
Amazing podcast. Time flies listening!!! Congratulations from Brazil for the great show
Good to see that top Sports Athlete can respect and support each other!!
So awesome to have them here!
Great questions! What a partnership, they leave no stone unturned in their preparation, personification of success.
Great interview. Thank you Rich !
Brilliant interview, long time overdue, thank you
Whether in cycling or triathlon, it used to be about who is the strongest, but now it is about who does the homework, plans a plan, and then works the plan. Both Gustav, Blu, Laidlow, and Chelsea had a plan and worked the plan. There were some folks who didnât finish where they hoped, who came in with a plan, because they defaulted to who is the strongest, and didnât stick to the plan.
It is interesting how the younger generation, whether in pro cycling or triathlon, donât buy into the mystique of a race or a climb. This has a lot to due to the lens with which they look at races.
I love the deep dives with amazing athletes!
Wow this is amazing!! I could listen to this for 10 hours!
20 hours! đ
Thank you Rich! What weâve been wanting to see!
Love this! Can you have Lucy or Chelsea on next?
Great interview. Inspiring for sure. Congratulations to all of you.
Yaaass! Haven't even listened yet but totally bit on the teaser! Keep it up Rich!
Great interview! Amazing how they feed off each other! Top class athletes
Thanks for this great conversation!
These two guys are so awesome! Great interview! đŽââïž
Great stuff! Thanks RRP!
One of the best pod episodes yet â€ïžâđ„
Thank you for this!!
Great message, thanks for sharing.
Amazing guys and an amazing episode! thanks
Wow, thank you for this time, it was so nice to hear anything. Can hear 2 hours ahead and a little bit deeper. Wish to have these both on separately Interviews with insides of the Training and growing in Bergen. Thank you
Brilliant interview!
WOW!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO LISTEN TO THIS!!!!!!!
Brilliant conversation đđ
These lads, incredible.
this was a very fun and a fluid talk with some heavy hitters
Yesssssssss! The episode I'm really looking forward to! As a back of the pack triathlete inspiring ass heck!
Right there with you buddy!
Great interview. Really enjoyed the insights.
Great guys, great podcast, interesting, amusing - thanks for sharing! :-)
Brilliant interview.
I would like to hear more about the psychological value of being comfortable with what you believe is your toughest opponent. Surely the typical fear of losing is minimized, opening up the potential for better performances, a sort of shortcut to the âflow stateâ.
Really cool, relaxed interview đ
đ§đ» Great Podcast đ Greetings from Norway Europe đ
I have been waiting for this thank rich
Awesome! Please get Mr No Limits Lionel Sanders on the show next, thanks!
These two are so elite.
So interesting. The time flew by.
one of your best yet
Thank you! This is very inspiring Mia
Love it - amazing!
Just perfect!
Great podcast. Loved watching Kona.
I'm 29. I love swimming and running, but I'm a beginner at both. Can't wait to possibly run a few max distance ironman's one day. First I'm upping my weekly mileage on my feet, then I'll add swimming in to the mix. Then eventually the bike.
Great guys !
Im from Bergen, this was unexpected lol! Great episode!
Anyone who knows how dominant Norway is in the Winter Olympics should not be surprised that this country/people produce such stellar athletes.
thats not a point. germany is generally good in winter Olympics as well and (except Triathlon) we pretty much suck in general endurance sports for years.
Youâre right, itâs difficult to compare. Just seeing the parallel of these guysâ approach to training and development as with the Norwegian nordic team particularly.
@@fidru Bulk of Germany's winter olympic medals came from luge, bob etc almost 80-90 % of the medals. Germany is no match in endurance athletic performance and culture of Norway.
Lots of gems there â€ïžđ
By the way, when Gustav says at @16:15 he was running ~3'/km pace, that translates into 4'50"/mile...
Thanks to this video Im signing up to Cozumel Ironman 2023
great guests
Great interview, very interesting, Rich :)
Gustav is a beast. Can tell Christian is taking the 3rd place hard
Excellent advice you have to make time for yourself or noone else will
That watch tan is super next level
Reminder: this interview was done 2 days, multiple interviews and a flight after the fastest times ever at Kona.
Men & Women are not growing any taller or stronger over all but, most are growing smarter & this is a great example of our evolution and the important point that Knowledge is Power!
@@MoSec9 HaHaHa yes LARGER for sure!
"Girlfriends..no no, they come with a consequences as Olav says" đ€Ł
truer words have never been spoken
27:50 its funny he mentions grunge music in Seattle. Bergen is also known for its music scene, and was a big part of spawning Norwegian Disco / Space disco as a genre, that today is well know internationally.
Yes! I was a big fan of the Bergen scene in the early to mid 2000s: Royksopp, Kings of Convenience, Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band, Ephemera, etc.
Legends
Applause!
Beasts! Excellent podcast, as always :)
Loved it! Gustav and Kristian are also great guys: funny, intelligent and friendly
Level is đ
They did great considering theyâre so close to the event
I loved the stuff at the end with the no girlfriend or consequences ...backed by statistics haha, really wrapped the whole thing up well!
Jan has won 3 Kona's, third on his first attempt , Winner on the second and third race, winner in 2019
Great interview. A 3:07 5K is approx a 5:00 mile by the way.
These guys are analyzing their breath.
Great! Comment for the algorithm
Huge fan of Rich Roll and this podcast - another great episode!
Magnus Mitbo is also from Bergen! Could be a great guest for a future episode đ
Biggest takeaway: They genuinely like each other and feed off each other. It's hard (nearly impossible) to duplicate that--especially for 10+ years. Monk existence=championships.
So many proprietary secrets revealed in this cast.
With norwegian chairs in the studio đ
awesome video ! Can i ask you if Gustav or Kris takes any suplemment like probiotic, omega3, vitaminD, creatine ? Or its just caffeine and carbs ? :p
Kristian has the Viking energy (Maybe in one of his former lifes he was a Viking Fighter! !^_^!
When the podcast with their trainer is coming up?
Fascinating! Can't wait to hear from Olaf and his "consequences coaching" philosophy đ
excellent athletes for sure however is this still a fair competition if you consider all the technical support they are given? I mean shoes, thermometer capsules, ongoing lactose measurements, morning urine callorie measurements etc. I honestly think not many athletes around the world have such intensive support.
