Would you be willing to update the earliest episodes with more details for the Middle and Late Roman Republic? So many interesting events and characters glossed over who laid the foundation of what made the empire so sturdy
InstaBlaster...
Ok wow I'm moving to odysee
I just love how whenever someone is discussing Rome and doesn't have the time to go in depth the default answer is Historia Civilis. That man is just the internet's resident Rome guy lol.
Devon Linden It works. Someone has to do it, that way people can make masterpieces like this without fear of spreading misinformation to gullible dipshits who don’t understand satire. Alas, people such as those are the true modern barbarians.
Historia Civilis is a youtube treasure, that's for sure.
@@constructivist6 yeah go there for deep understanding come here to unleash the inner Barbarian hatred
@@braedenwestland2662 I don't think this channel is about hate

I downloaded this Mod in Mount and Blade called "Rome at War" and its set in the Roman Republic but I can't play it without knowing it's history, Dovahhatty is LEGIT the best CZcamsr to combine Memes, Humor and History combine, The dude is a chad af
It isn’t history, it’s just memes. He’s even recreated scenes from gladiator lol

The history of alexander the great would be a fun video to see. Also this is without a doubt my favourite history channel on youtube.
Alexander just used trojan technology
Finally, someone else who doesn't like John Green.
Who likes that guy?
@@Jakugen0 Incels, Antifa, Democrats, BLM, communists, socialists, left-wing anarchists, illegal immigrants, Hollywood, legacy media, journos, online censors, that sort of crowd. I'd say feminists like him too, but he's a man.
@@Nonamearisto All true. That dude is so slimy.
@@Jakugen0 Green is a self-loathing white man who hates America, doesn't think people are responsible for what they do, and his economic and social policies would destroy the country if they were enacted. We've seen what happens when the policies he wants to see are put into place. We'd end up like Venezuela.
Fuck John Green, my homes hate John Green!
01:27: Caeso
01:38: Publicola's son
01:47 Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus
03:10 Marcus Furius Camillus
04:03: Brennus
Fun fact: city of Cincinnati in Ohio is named after Cincinnatus
I did not have fun reading your comment.
I would have never guessed.
No shit :O
I highly doubt that dude.
Coleman Spinks well, sort of. It’s named after the society of the Cincinnati, which is named after Cincinnatus
These videos saved my life from Boredom. For this, I present to you a grass crown
These are beautiful videos
I love the faint Civ V unit death music when the plebs routed
I’ve finally figured out who you are, Cato the elder. Shouldn’t have taken this long given all the greek hate tbh.
When your city is sacked and on fire, you stab the fires and unstab the walls.
What? No mention of Horatius Cocles? I thought he might at least get a cameo.
Also: I came here after watching your more recent stuff and I’ve gotta say, you’ve really improved! I mean these are pretty good, but the later ones are freaking awesome.
Or Coriolanus for that matter. Though having a patrician who hated plebs so much that he lead barbarians against Rome wouldn't have meshed well with the the tone of these episodes.
Cincinnatus and his wife . My second fav couple after Aurelian and his wife
GAULED
Just found your channel yesterday... And I love the content... You make learning Roman History fun...
But wrong 😅
"stab those fires! now unstab the walls!"
You really make me love history again thank you very much
They *never* should've let the plebeians have so much control >:(
The older videos are good, but a little bit fast; glad you slowed down a bit in later ones.
The unit death sound from Civ V along with fleeing rectangles made me lose my sides.
Sennones: Barbarian win Rome lost
Caesar a few centuries later: I'm about to end this mans whole carreer
This video series is the capstone for any study of history on youtube.
That gallic neckless carving is a MCU level foreshadowing.
Finally... Some f*cking good content
Keep going on, this is a nice job
Noice. "Stab the fire" Roman firefighting techniques are a lost art
“Becoming it’s second founder and hero forever” *History on Fire theme plays* 5:26
Great content lol
"Trully, my favorite servant."
That ancient map makes me so curious. OwO
I just discovered this channel and I fucking love it!! haha
Yes yes, this is truly unbiased history
veii delenda est... was soo satisfying to hear
4:49 that translation was so hilarious 😂😂😂
Livy's prose couldn't of put it better haha
saw this referenced on Historia Civilis' channel
We need Remaster of early videos.
He put down a rebellion in 2 weeks. Crops wait for no man.
I can't wait until you get to Majorian.
We need the barbarian killcount back.
Don't understand why Coriolanus wasn't even mentioned
Vae vict(gibs me that)
- Brennus
0:40 absolutely hilarious man
Esses vídeos são muito foda, salve do Brasil!
4:56 My ancestor
I wonder why this video in the series is less popular than the others.
Learning about Romes Unbiased History is always good with a meal.
You should really redo the early rome videos in the new format
3.53 which hordes are the most barbarian?
0:38 Unironically kinda based well compared to how voting is inherently cringe in general.
Jesus the stuff goes by to fast, at least leave it on screen long enough for me to pause and read it.
You can slow it down if you want
He got better at it. Maybe some of these older videos will get a remake when he's done with Rome.
@@Nonamearisto They won't.
Saludos compatriota latino
A man of culture and not a fucking barbarian keep up the good work
0:22 I think u meant -6th century cuz it’s BC?
I guess?
Vae victus- meaning gibs me dat. Accurate
nice
10/10 made me finish my history studies with 4.0
I find these video's to be pretty accurate, except gauls had writing, they had mail armor (which the romans copied) the romans also copied their horse god ''eponia'' (if I remember correctly) so they would be more like half breed, plebs and barbarians then full barbarian filth.
its as objective as the news i love it.
Great series. Could you please share with me the name/composer of the string piece at the opening of the video? Thanks!
Imagine coping this hard over VAE VICTIS. "no one knows what happened to the Gaul's that day" yes we do. The Romans paid up to save their skins and the gauls went home to stack Roman gold in their mud huts.
Too bad they get fucked by Caesar
Society of the Cincinnati still exists today in the U.S. Membership is generally restricted to military officers and their sons.
Where's Coriolanus?
😂 “plebs always bitching” “what did you expect with plebs in charge”.... I’m starting to think the title of the video is satirecal
with iron not gold will the fatherland be preserved
Epic
Speak slower for the love of god
He has John Green to compete with
@@zackosborn1731 Talk about punching up. This guy would need to stand on a fucking step-ladder to attempt a swing - and John Green isn't even a legitimate historian (and his books are shit). Can we not mix educational series with memelords? One is for entertainment, the other is for education. This guy doesn't want to be taken seriously, so why take him seriously? It doesn't have to be a competition (and in the case of channels like Potential History, you can be both a memester and someone actually engaging in constructive historical discussion).
No self-respecting student of history advocates for "great man" history like it's some conclusive school of thought (it ain't, it's a term that was coined retroactively to explain a preoccupation within prior historical discourse) - so this guy is obviously going for entertainment alone.
Videos are locked at patrician speed.

"Unbiased" lol. Even Caesar was more unbiased than you in his commentarii about himself. Funny video anyway good job. Cincinnatus's pronunciation is wrong btw.
Kinkynatus, Quinquinatus, Kwainkwynahtus?
@@Dovahhatty Kinkynatus. "c" in latin always gives "k" sound. Kaesar Kikero etc.

democracy should be a priviliged club. only adults, only heartland citizens with a long birthright to the land, only those of high moral and loyalty value. nobrainer
I’m an uneducated pleb but what is the great man theory?
Basically it says that the wheels of history are primarily turned by influential and powerful individuals, as opposed to natural phenomena
@@tedbacon1283 Because it is true, sometimes, the worst times makes the best men, and they make good times, but good times create bad men, which creates horrible times, and so the cycle repeats itself forever and beyond
