- In this week's vlog, I'm sharing my relaxed, summery weekend, filled with books, a fantastic secondhand clothes swap at TOAST (one of my favourite British clothing brands) and a gorgeous walk, admiring the roses, peonies and poppies all bursting into life. Ah. Malcolm Saville, a great children’s writer! I walk in Lone Pine country as often as I can, it’s magical. I was brought up in Yorkshire, Harrogate was a regular Sunday afternoon outing for walks through the Valley Gardens and afternoon tea at a nearby cafe.
Thanks for making another wonderful video! It had such a relaxing, summery, peaceful feel to it. I loved all the beautiful flowers - the roses and peonies especially beautiful. Miranda, I love watching you and your mum so much, it brings joy to the day, thank you very much. I remember Redshanks Warning very well, I was brought up in Sheringham, close to where it was set. I also loved his book Susan, Bill and the Dark Stranger. I've loved the Brontes nearly all my life, after reading Jane Eyre at 12. The hilly Sheringham golf course became the Yorkshie moors for me!

Toast seems like a wonderful company. I’m always looking for long lasting tops and dresses. Thank you! This video was so full of wonderful things. I had never known one could “cold brew” tea just like the coffee. And your dress was beautiful especially with the music and irises as buttercup roses! I’m speechless. Please save these videos in multiple places! You might value them even more when you’re older and you can show your fellow old lady friends what you did when you were young

I loved your garden. Such an array of flowers.
I love that idea of the clothes swap. I sell unwanted items on eBay as well as I donate to charity from which I buy from both of those as well. That lemon verbena iced drink looks so delicious. I have some dried lemon verbena leaves myself which I’m going to steep. Thank you 🙏🏻

Lovely dress and garden, the flowers are gorgeous! The lemon verbena tea sounds very refreshing. I’m a coffee drinker myself, cold brew coffee is especially good in summer. But this tea would definitely catch my interest. Thank you and Donna as always for such an enjoyable video.

Just came in from working in our flower beds to find another enjoyable "visit" from you and your lovely mum! Loved the walk through the garden; such gorgeous flowers. Your new dress is really pretty too! Enjoyed Friday's video yesterday. Such a coincidence that on Friday I was in a huge used bookshop in a town near my daughter where I was scanning the shelves for British books and found 3 in 1 volume of Barbara Pym's books: Excellent Women and Jane and Prudence and An Unsuitable Attachment!

I love the lemon verbena drink idea! I am going to try that with some mint. We have a heat wave upcoming, so refreshing, noncaffeinated drinks will be needed! The garden and music were together were a balm for a work-weary soul. Thank you!

Toast sounds like a wonderful place. I love clothes swaps, but the Toast concept would be more suitable in terms of great sizing. Like you, certain fabrics can irritate my skin and I am very careful. Well, Miranda, thanks to you, I just finished and loved Excellent Women, by Barbara Pym. My local library can acquire other authors you recommend. Your walk in the garden was so pretty and showcase the flowers for us so nicely. I must compliment your dress. It suits you perfectly and your color choice does as well!!! The flowers are stunning. I love Irises best. Used to have them as a child. Enjoy seeing so much greenery. This week we're in a heat wave. A week of 114 degrees or more. I know I live in a 🏜️ desert but even this is excessive.😂. Til Friday. 💕

I love your new dress and it's perfect for summer! I've been spending so much more time in my garden as well. I'm somehow energized by all of the beautiful colors and lush greenery and I love just fiddling with each flower to see its progress. Thanks for the tip about the lemon verbena tea. I've never cared for our Southern (South Carolina) iced tea-- aka Southern Syrup because it's way too sweet-- I prefer herbal varieties, but I've never tried it chilled this way! I'm hopping over to grab a sample and the bottle you suggested. Thanks for the tip. It sounds perfect for our hot and humid summer evenings.

Love the dress! Great way to refresh your wardrobe💃. I can’t drink wine anymore because of allergy-related issues but when I had friends over last weekend I made myself a hibiscus ginger infusion to go with there red wines 😊

This absolutely was a perfect June weekend Miranda and Donna, thank you for taking us with you. I have had a lemon verbena for years and even just brushing your hand over the plant instantly relaxes you, I'd thoroughly recommend growing one for your tea. Could you soak fresh mint leaves in cold water like that and make a refreshing beverage?
People often add fresh mint leaves to a jug of water & it’s very nice. The lemon verbena leaves are dried, so you have to infuse them for a while. I wouldn’t myself infuse fresh leaves for so long, as the taste might be too strong, especially with mint.
Thank you so much for the advice. Summers here in Alaska are so short I figure I’d better make something like this now before the weather turns again.
