Raspberry Picking + Exploring Fountains Abbey

- Happy Friday everyone and welcome to my latest reading vlog! This week, I've had lots of fun going raspberry picking, making fresh pink lemonade and spending a marvellous afternoon exploring Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, a World Heritage Site and a must-visit if you're in North Yorkshire. I'm also chatting about books I've been enjoying, as always, in this video! Thank you for watching, and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead.

I know I’ve told you this before but your relationship with your Mum is so wonderful it warms my heart. I get so excited when your videos pop up wondering what the two of you are up to next. I always enjoy your videos. Beautifully done. Spending time with you as you chat and inspire about books and create that lovely raspberry lemonade recipe is so enjoyable and inspiring. As Donna stops by and joins us, I am reminded of how close I was to my mother and how we enjoyed this type of trip together. Miranda, you bring a lot to your channel and I am very grateful.

@@MirandaMills I can absolutely see this happening, with time, persistence and patience. Your channel is so unique but is appealing to so many different people...! I would absolutely buy books you cared to release - anything from baking to a baking/literature crossover, or season related books - "A winter in Yorkshire" or something like that, with recipes, photos, history/architecture, and winter poems/prose excerpts. I think that would be heavenly! I would buy all four season books, if they existed. 💕

That was lovely. I had to find a vintage embroidered tray cloth because yours looked so nice. I’ll be having porridge on my tray though as it’s winter here. Lovely to see the abbey and sunshine

Up until about 10 years the primary school I work at still had a maypole and once a year the year 2 classes were taught to do the dancing around it. They then performed it in front of their parents. Both my children did it. Obviously it was a transportable maypole and was done in the local community centre. But one of my first memories was watching children dancing around the maypole in the school playground. I was only about 3(?). I remember thinking how much I wanted to do it. The coincidence being this was the school my children were to go to and myself work at. I never got to dance around the maypole. Unfortunately the junior school I attended did t do it. I think we were the last school in the area to carry on the tradition. Such a shame it stopped. I think it so important that these old books are still published. They tell us so much of life and traditions and morals of days gone by. A much more innocent time? ❤
Those water statues that looked like paper sailboats were so cute. The water gardens were stunning!

Thank you for your wonderful CZcams channel. I enjoy everything about it especially the beautiful relationship you have with your Mom. I love the book recommendations, the readings, the baking, your exquisite photography and musical backgrounds. I've been inspired to live seasonally and embrace the everyday beauty surrounding me. Reading has been my biggest pleasure (and coping tactic) during this pandemic and I became engrossed in novels taking place during WWII with female protagonists. Would you consider doing a post with your recommendations within this genre? Best to you and your mother!!

I love Elinor M. Brent-Dyer and Dorita Fairlie Bruce but although I've tried them a few times the Abbey series has never appealed to me in the same way. It's probably just as well because I don't have the space for another series! However I'd love to visit Fountains Abbey. Thanks you for the wonderful views and tour of the amazing architecture.

I was just thinking the same thing. What style would that be considered? It’s not as rustic as say Arts and Crafts Movement. If I had to make something up that’s not based on any type of design knowledge haha, Id say, Artisanal Folk? Id love to know if anyone is knowledgeable of that specific aesthetic.
