- Hello and happy Friday! In today's video, I'm sharing a lovely outing my Mum and I had to a lavender farm in Yorkshire, as well as a trip to Malton, a beautiful market town known for its many restaurants, cafes and shops. We discovered a wonderful bookshop and did not come away empty handed!

I absolutely adore all of your videos Miranda,and return to them from time to time when I need to,but I really dispassionately think that with this kind of format you have found your niche! These vlogs and baking videos with a side of bookish content truly are the cosiest escapist pleasure,I can't wait to watch these past few videos again when it's a little bit chillier here in Italy with nice cup of tea - and so so lovely to see Yorkshire,I was lucky enough to visit an handful of times and I miss it every day! Thank you for sharing all those wonderful moments! The lavender fields were gorgeous and enjoyed seeing your book purchases--Jane Smiley is best known for "A Thousand Acres", which I've read. She also wrote a short bio of Dickens. My daughter-in-law gave me that same small plate (bought in Yorkshire!) a few years ago, but OH, Laura Ashley! When I was a new (very over-tired) working mom in the 1980s, nothing made me feel more lovely and feminine than my Laura Ashley dresses! I think I had that material, but in a dress--a pinafore style, I think. They were expensive rare treats that made me feel so happy and special. Such wonderful memories for me! Thank you.
So glad to have brought back some happy memories, Kathleen! I have many memories associated with Laura Ashley too - I'd get a new LA dress every Christmas when I was little. I miss the beautiful old patterns and designs, so it's a thrill to find any secondhand xxx

Such a lovely video, Miranda. We have some lavender in our garden and it’s been a joy to watch the bees on it all summer. Those new editions of the Cazalets! Beautiful. The spines too. I’ve read books 1 and 2 in the older editions but will continue with those lovely new ones ☺️

Thank you so much for publishing this when you did. I’m truly distraught over the suffering that could have been avoided…Anyway, I’ve saved this to a playlist as a light at the end of the tunnel. A beacon to not only practice looking on the bright side, but to remain strong and present in effort to build a resilience. Women in history had grit that came within and didn’t require an outside source. But this is what I’m working with

The Lavender Farm is beautiful. I know I always enjoy going to one, the scent walking through the lavender is amazing. Malton looks delightful and what a splendid bookshop. The Reading List sounds fascinating, and The Strays of Paris completely charming. I am adding the title to my 'Books for Christmas' list that I am compiling for the digital newsletter that am editor of.

Hi, Miranda. I've been watching for several months now and decided to finally say "hello!" Your content has been so calming, pleasant, and informative. It has been several years since I have visited a lavender farm (there are two particular farms in Upstate New York that I have frequented over the years), so getting to tag along with you and your mum in Yorkshire was a real treat. Malton looked like great fun! And, what a fabulous book haul. My mother-in-law and I were book shopping last weekend and she picked up The Reading List. I saw the Elizabeth Jane Howard books in a bookshop and realised the spines of all five books together actually make a beautiful scenery!

What a beautiful, joyful video, I loved it! The sunrise beginning was magical with the rosy skies and beautiful music. Your photography really is stunning! How wonderful the lavender farm looks - I imagine it must smell as amazing as it looks too. It looked like such a lovely day out for you and your mum. What a great shopping day too! I love all your finds. I always enjoy unwrapping buys when I get home and delighting in them. After I saw your Elizabeth Harbour ornaments on one of your previous videos I fell in love with them, and I now have lots of her little birds “flying” around my kitchen dresser. I have my eye on her squirrel with acorn, which seems very autumnal!

What a wonderful adventure! I adore lavender! Not only is lavender good for getting rid of moths it is also a deterrent to a little Mouse that might like to visit your draws for the winter. Mice dislike lavender!!! I love all shopping haul , all the shops I love to visit too. My fav macrons are salted caramel...Mmmm

This was so fun, and I loved all your purchases. I think I may need to check on a couple of the books. Powell's has become a regular haunt for me. We have several independent bookstores in the Portland, Oregon, area including ing the marvelous mother ship of all bookstores Powell's, but some of books published in UK don't seem to make it across the pond. Powell's has amazing service I have to say. Teacup and plate were so pretty.🌹
