I don't agree with you on this one I think Chris Evans was great as Captain America.
I'm glad they don't reveal anything about the winter soldier for non comic book fans. It's going to be a cool twist for the audiences.
But he wasn't in the first Captain America movie was he? So the audience wont get it.

I'm surprised Grace is being so critical. I absolutely love the Captain America movie. I think it's one of Marvel's two perfect movies (along with Iron Man). The trailer for Winter Soldier seems like an action trailer, very little is revealed about the storyline, but there will be another trailer coming out when the movie is closer to release.

I like that the Winter Soldier isn't addressed. It leaves a sense of ambiguity for the people who haven't read the comics. And a trailer shouldn't explain everything, anyway. That's what the movie is for, not the trailer.
@Beyond The Trailer: I have to disagree with you about Chris Evans. Captain America does have a commanding presence, but he's also extremely humble due to his organs. Chris Evans even said that it was hard to play Captain America (honesty is a good part of humility). Also he had a great commanding presence in the sci-fi movie Sunshine. You should check it out and kind off shrug off his comedic image due to him being Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four and other movies. Other than that excellent review!!!

Im ok with the new costume; but the head gear is a must for Cap. im disappointed that with modern technology and CGI; that they can't come up with a cool and sleek headpiece. Also disappointed that THOR has only wore the "wings" only once in two films.

1. S.H.I.E.L.D. is a big damn organisation, you really think one movie could shed light to all of it? No, Agents of Shield just tells us story about one specific team. No competing with this movie at all.

People are entitled to their own opinions but most of the comments I'm seeing disagree with you and agree with me. I think Chris Evans makes a great cap. I, personally, think he steals the show in every movie he's in even the terrible ones. Plus, he's cute, humble, really intelligent, and a Gemini like me. This is what I get for doing research and watching a lot of Chris Evans interviews. He has anxiety issues but I love him despite his flaws.
Actually, back when I worked at Marvel I heard that Chris Evans refused to do the voiceover for the Captain America toys because they wouldn't pay him extra money to do so.

This one just looks like a straight action movie with Captain America and the Marvel name in it so we will go see it.
gdavis2bn Well, this is just a trailer after all & that's what trailers are supposed to do these days. The movie looks like it will be boasting a story of a civil war within the SHIELD organization. Might IS right vs. Might FOR right & Capt. America has to choose sides & decide which "America" he stands for. But, being a bit cynical after the burn scars from IM3, Hulk reboot, etc. It's hard to not be skeptical.

Chris does his best with the character. When I worked at Disney World last year I met Chris Evans. He said he really feels the pressure of playing this character. And he almost didn't take the offer, because of that. I'm sure as an actor it's giving him lots of experience. And every movie he does he improves as a performer. Give the guy a break. I don't think its fair to tell actors that they can only do one thing. Just because he's done comedy; doesn't mean he can't do other things.
I love when Robert Redford says:To build a better world, sometimes it means tearing the old one down. that is the perfect selling point with the marvel cinematic universe as a whole (including some of the more lackluster movies). sometimes you have to change things or revision them to find that balance that grounds these films in reality. i do agree that Evans may not have the gravitas that comes to mind when thinking of Cap. but Winter Soldier catching that shield at the end was damn cool, lol.

I like the fact that I need to watch the actual MOVIE and not that everything is REVEALED in the trailer.
I don't understand all the hate Chris Evans gets as Cap. He played the role great in his solo movie and in the Avengers. He continues to demonstrate that he has the charisma and acting chops to be Steve Rogers. What is he missing? He plays the role completely straight and doesn't fall into the angst trap despite having every excuse to do so. He has demonstrated to be a genuinely good guy, a competent leader, and the person who is willing to call people out on their crap.

I actually liked Chris Evans as Captain America, I've never been a big fan of him but after seeing the first movie I realised that he was pretty good and showed that he could play a more vulnerable character that you care about and he was able to portray the character really well, especially during the last scene of the movie. Him and Hayley Atwell had good chemistry overall, and those are the 2 main reasons why I prefered the Captain America movie over Thor.
How the hell do you say Chris Evans is not a good Cap , he is great with the action and dialog lets not forget he was surrounded by mega stars in the Avengers and still pulled it off plus if you don't know who the Winter Soldier is this trailer won't help man get a clue

If you're all wondering WHO the Winter Soldier is, it's Steve's best friend Bucky from the first movie. I know that "he died" by falling off a cliff, but like Captain America he's made into a super-soldier as well, and he has been brainwashed for the past 70 years.
She likes how his shield is being portrayed the way an actual shield would work as a weapon, both in melee, as a thrown device, and as a shield all while being done "heroically." The helmet worked in the first movie because it was the re-imagining of an actual wwii helmet, which fit. In the avengers, it stuck out like a sore thumb. She has no problem with the title. She has a problem with the trailer avoiding any sort of explanation of the winter soldier and his role in the plot.
As a long time Cap fan I love everything about this trailer. Chris Evans embodies the best qualities of Steve Rogers and is doing a great job in the role.
I think Chris Evans is a great captain. I was surpassed at first as ell but i really think he did a great job in the avengers and in the original avenger. But hey everyone has there own opinion.
Hi! Great question! What I mean by "film" lighting is something that creates depth and nuance.
While I think the colors look great here in the Captain America 2 trailer, I feel the scenes look very "flat".
James Cameron does a good job with bright lighting that still feels cinematic, as does Steven Spielberg. Peter Jackson and Gore Verbinski as well. I think those directors have better composition as well, IMHO.

I think Chris Evans was PERFECTLY cast. Cap is my favourite character on The Avengers and The First Avenger was my favourite solo film in the MCU.
Exactly, it doesn't have to be as great as the movies, it just needs to be able to "hold you over" until the movies come out. I think people's expectations were way too high for the show. Its like they were expecting weekly movies.
they didn't quit or hate shield. they technically didn't work for them. shield just brought them together. after the avengers they just went their separate ways. tony went back to work, bruce went into hiding, thor went home, and steve has no where to go. he probably just travels and stays in contact with shield
I actually find Captain America and Chris Evans portrayal of him refreshing and interesting. Anti-heroes are boring and played out.

Chris has done a great job as Capt, he has the 'all-american' look to him and his personality. He's done a good job being more 'apple pie'
It is even more of a wonder that, even in death, an actor of Mr. Redford's caliber can still be cast in a movie coming out next year.
I'm in the middle of both. I think Chris Evans just needs to either appear or simply be older than the other Avengers to really show the leadership that Captain America is known for.
They should of cut the line short at "was he wearing a parachute?" It would of been funny, instead of continuing with, "No. No he wasn't."
This movie really has the Avengers feel to it, and if I wasn't convinced of Chris Evans as Captain America before, I am now. He seems to finally be owning the character the way RDJ owns Iron Man. I am hyped after this trailer.
I have to agree with a few others, Grace...Chris Evans' chiseled blonde hair blue eyes look, immersion with the loyal super soldier persona, athleticism, and seriousness as captain in combination with his slight sarcasm make him the best possible candidate for this role...My biggest gripe about him is the whole Human Torch thing. Also, it's been widely known since forever ago that the "Winter Soldier" was Bucky, his best friend that fell in the chasm in the first movie. Also, there were winter soldier toys years ago.

I think rather than giving away the whole storyline of the winter solider in the first trailer they are holding back and actually saving the story for the movie. Thanks to the bit at the end where he catches the shield everyone is going to know that Winter Soldier is the main villian
On paper this is my favorite Phase 2 solo film. I love Evans as Cap. I think he embodies him quite well.
This "Winter Soldier" reminds me a lot of Marvels' "Nomad" character.

Not telling you about Winter Soldier in the trailer does add intrigued for non book fans. Sorry for your hate of the SHIELD TV show but it is a TV show and you can't expect blockbuster quality for the small screen. The show is geared for lower tier hero's and to tie into the films.

Part of me agrees with you especially seeing comments calling this movie a SHIELD movie and not an Captain America movie. People really do need to read more of the books.
The lead on Human Target is Mark Valley and actually served in the military! The other actor is Neal McDonough and he recently had a SCARY arc on Justified on FX.
I agree, both guys are really personable, but I think they're too "TV" to land a lead role like Cap. I know a lot of BTT viewers support TV actors, but a studio just isn't going to risk building a whole franchise - much less a movie - around a TV actor who wasn't even that successful... :(

Grace I completely understand your concern with the title. When this trailer was put on my Facebook feed, many people had no idea why the movie was called the Winter Soldier, even making fun of the fact that it's called the Winter Soldier and it's coming out in April. Totally understandable, but why didn't they address it?!
This looks good, I really hope Disney/Marvel will finally make a good movie like the first Iron man and Avengers.
A few points I'd like to add, the Falcon is not a limited character, he is only limited by the screenwriter's imagination (and it's refreshing to finally see one of Marvel's black superheroes finally make an appearance in a major Marvel film. I hope it's the start of a trend as Marvel has quite a few in their arsenal, Luke Cage, Black Panther and Black Goliath to name but a few), and my second point is about Captain America and the Black Widow, the person reviewing the trailer complained about "a kiss" between them?!!? In the Marvel Universe they get together and have a Son (He's in Ultimate Avengers set in the future), so I don't get her point, unless she's another one of those people who believe they know better than what's already been written and they want to rewrite things in their own image (in that case they should create their own comic books and write what they like and hope it makes it to print and then a big budget movie, lol). I just think that if you're going to review something, research it thoroughly so's you don't seem like an idiot!
Me too. It is a TV Show and to say a TV show is bad because its not a movie, with movie budgets, shooting schedules, and pre and post destruction.
It is a character based high concept drama still in the midst of world building and flushing the "rules" for the series out.
If you don't like it fine, but strangely all the people I talk to in person, albeit a small number, like the show and like it more every episode.
The tv show ties into the movies & the movies into the tv show. The second cube thingy from the show is the 3rd power gem.

Chris Evans is better at being a dramatic actor then you are aware. Go watch Sunshine. Also, did you see the first Captain America? He gave the character a lot of heart.
He made a great cap for the origin story and the first half of the avengers, where they could really explore his earnestness and straightforward good nature. It was much harder to buy his performance as the legendary leader of the avengers, especially when he has to perform opposite actors like RDJ and Ruffalo.

It had the tenor of a 70's spy film and since I was looking forward to Steve's adapting to the modern age I thought the title "The Winter Soldier" was in context of "Winter Soldier Investigation" of the 70's.
I don't have a single problem with Chris Evans. Sure, there's probably someone better out there, but that doesn't mean he's doing a bad job or doesn't suit the role. He is comedic, but this version of CA needs that, like in Avengers when he finally understands a reference. Plus he makes a great opposite to RDJ's Tony Stark. He's not bad, not bad at all.

The only thing I don't understand is why the trailer doesn't show a moment of Cap realizing who the Winter Soldier is. Everyone who's read the comics knows who it is. Everyone who's looked up this movie on IMDB or Wikipedia knows who it is. It seems to me that the ID of the Winter Soldier should be a huge bulk of this movie's drama.
I agree, Chris gets the job done, has the physique, and the all-american look. Not all trailers need to reveal everything... which I personally prefer. Hate getting all the info in the trailer. Give me a taste of what it's about, the feel, the tone... don't spell it out for me.

2019 - Winter Soldier is one of the greatest Marvel movies ever. Chris Evans as Cap is legendary... his ending in Endgame was epic.

I think Chris is perfect for the role in regards to how much cap is beloved by other characters in the COMICS, but maybe not for most movie goers. Cap is a character that no other hero ever has a bad word to say about. Even when cap is wrong, he's right, and garners respect. For instance when he attacked the x-men to abduct HOPE in the comics. I think Chris has that look more so than most other actors. However, Chris doesn't really have the badass appeal Cap should have in the movie verse.

i think you have to give chris evans cap a chance because he is transitioning from a wartime hero to a superhero team leader of extremely egotistical teammates. everyone of the heroes think they know what is best for the situation and themselves, and caps got to fight to prove himself as a leader. hopefully this movie will expand on that.

For me Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is like the chips and salsa you eat at a restaurant while you wait for your meal, which is this case are the Marvel and Avengers movies that we are waiting for to be released.
I think Chris Evans has rocked the role. He does command respect as Cap. I think you're might still see him as Johnny Storm. He's done a bunch of other movies where he's shown that the funny side to him was just one side. Sunshine and London are movies I watched after he was cast because I was worried about him as my favorite character. But I think he owned it in the First Avenger, I think he showed out pretty well against RDJ and all those hugely charismatic characters, and he'll be fine here.
And Grace, Robin Williams is a comedian, Jim Carrey is a comedian, Will Smith is a comedian; catching the pattern?

Chris Evans, I would say, isn't blowing anyone away as Captain America, but I think everyone recognizes that he is Cap now. His trailer brought some important ideas from the movie, and yet kept a lot of stuff hidden. Maybe this trailer was meant to show more of the political aspects of it, while the next trailer will show more winter soldier stuff. In the end, good trailer, looking forward to the movie.

Grace, I don't thing Captain America is going to keep his "helmet less" uniform. By the looks of the trailer he will revert back to the ole Red, White and Blue uniform. Which makes me happy since I love the classic look. Also, he is a man out of time and I think Evans nails the role perfectly. There shouldn't be too many gray areas with Captain America, he is who he is and that's not a bad thing.

Most films need a certain level of exposition and probably the only one of Nolan's films that have excessive exposition is Inception. The Prestige certainly doesn't.
You said recently you already dropped Agents of Shield. Have you even watched the last two episodes, because the has been tremendous improvement. If you have stopped watching it, then stop bashing it in almost every video you make at least until you can make an informed descision. It had a rough start, but it has really started to shine the last couple weeks.
