"Let me do it my way okay?" he said in a passive aggressive tone hahaha
Lol Nathan lost his patience with Andre for a minute there
"just let me do it my way" lol
+samtheman2144 Nathan is a gentleman. Gentlemen have infinite patience, and perfect manners. Therefore, Nathan did not become impatient. Please bear this in mind when you make any future comments. Thank you.
+MrKeyboardCommando Nathan Is A Man, A Gentleman Drives a Rolls Royce, A Man Drives A Truck. Thats An Insult To His Man-Hood.
Austin Wilson It is, regrettably, all too obvious that you, sir, are not a gentleman.

Proper winter tires are needed.
Was unaware that General Tire was an OEM supplier.
With that said, I would imagine they are not one of their top tier or better quality tires. OEM's are usually garbage tires from my experience and one of the first items I change on a new truck.
You guys would have had better luck in the snow with the General Grabber AT2 tires. Almost an identical tread pattern to the popular and proven BFG AT/TA KO and perform just as well.
+PaLEOjd It is true that General makes some exceptional tires. The Altimax Arctics rival any snow tire produced.
I think the limiting factors are the weight and the tires. really the truck was doing everything perfectly it's just heavy and needs a bit more aggressive tires
Airing down would have made a huge difference. I am betting those tires are most likely E rated, and have 60-80psi in them. Going off experience with other HD trucks, going down to 35psi makes a HUGE difference. Now of course you can't haul or tow much with them that low, but the traction difference is really big.
shitty tires, surprised the pro 4x didn't come with a set of more offroad oriented tires
Totally agree with you on that , those tires are meant for the highway for a quiet ride on the Interstate
why would you show this, are you guys trying to make the nissan look bad? no truck without chains would make it up that hill.
Idk where you think he made the truck look bad? He never talked bad about it and said it was a heavy vehicle with the wrong tires. And yes a truck did made it up there and way past it if you've seen the video with the raptor
The Toyota Land Cruiser went up this hill a few videos ago.
FrancineRA1970 with that much ice? No vehicle would make it without chains.
Arturo Villalobos with that much ice? I don't think so.
+Julio Englasis don't believe me look up the video bro. It was pretty sick!
Well now I know that a LC has better odds of climbing that hill. The weight added to the new Titan is a serious bummer. Thank you guys again for the great video.
Gotta love those general "grappler" tires
Surprise surprise, wrong tires...
Lower air pressure + chains would be nice. But empty pick up is not a good choice to climb that hill, espessially on all season tires.
Yeah, maybe some proper snow tires
+BAU they test these vehicles at completely factory spec
Steven Stringer I know, but with stock tires those trucks looks not good on snow, at all ;)
BAU Well thats because they are All Seasons or Mud and Snow which will really only get you around in winter in towns.
For any hills you'll want winter tires. Like they are doing.
Steven Stringer that is exactly what I was talking about. TFL should install proper tires to show new truck's performance and abilities. Without normal tires some might say those new trucks sucks.
Id have to say this is more of a tire test than anything, this truck obviously should be able to make it up this hill. I've done harder hills with my 2006 dodge ram 2500 with the 5.9 cummins. Its got no traction control, no rear locker but its got 35in nitro exo grapplers.
Thanks for the review, guys! IMO: For the same price, one can get more performance with almost any Big Three one ton. Sorry, this one must have been buit for Nissan fans. I don't see it winning converts at $65k.
Traction control: "Oh, you making it up that hill? Be a shame if somebody..... stopped you...."
The right tires makes all the difference. Tire chains is a must in that situation for any tires short of maybe studded tires.
You need to deflate the tires. It will make a huge difference!
One thing about the Titian XD it has 10 ply tires, therefore the pressure is around 60+, with the pressure that high the tires struggle for traction, personally if I was trying this i'd lower my tires to 20 PSI and try it with the extra traction. I know you guys try to use the vehicles as factory but I think you would have a much easier time with the tire pressure lowered.
Was this exact truck in Cheyenne Wyoming today? I saw a Nissan Titan exactly this color in my gym parking lot with Tennessee plates today. Still very few of these on the roads!
I'd like to see how it would do with a 6" lift and 35's or 37's.
Ah yes, the good ole truck days when we thought $58K for a truck was a lot!
As a Minnesota resident I'd caution you all to be wary about using winter videos for comparison unless they are shot on the same day, in the same place. Snow and Ice can change consistencies within hours from weather. Over time the base layer of ice that forms on the ground from melted and refroze snow tends to grow as winter progresses. As long as the snow sticks to the ice, you have a chance, but if it is powder, or turns to that smooth slimy consistency there really isn't anything without tracks or chains that can best it on a steep hill. Sometimes all you can do with ice on the bottom is drive until you feel a hint of wheel slip, back up, and hit it again on the packed snow you made, only goes so far though. That said, yellow trucks kind of suck at this stuff.
+Quadrunner And I would have made it in 2wd
TIRES!!! Its all about those tires people. The best 4x4 in the world sucks on snow and ice with the wrong tires!
That’s when you need tire chains 📈
I bet if you guys had some better gripping tires, those hills wont be an issue.
throw on some Bfgoodrich K02's..you'll get up..
Nissan XD 1/2 ton with 5.0 Cummins and plastic interior: $58k
RAM 2500 3/4 ton with 6.7 Cummins and deluxe interior: $55k
Nissan's price point is fucked. And sorry, but it looks like ass.
+GTOAviator : agree, the price point is wrong. The XD has the same mpg as the larger Ram, but no exhaust brake and less payload. I like the XD from what I have seen at a show, but the price is simply too high. I would consider a price premium for a 100% reliable truck, but Nissan's reliability history is not much better than the competition. Drop the price by say $12k, and the conclusion is very much different. By 2017, we will have more competitors, so price point will be key.
+Rob Grune I sure hope your right.
The Nissan is $43,000 base crew cab 4x4 not bad considering a base f250 regular cab gas 4x4 is $40,000
+Dodge 318 Cummins : Except the XD has much less capability than the F250. trying to compare apples: the XD 5L with full towing options has 2000# payload and 12k# towing and lists at $50k-$52k ; the F150 3.5L Eco with full towing options has 2000# payload and 12k# towing and lists at $43k-$45k. I have yet to find a TFL towing comparison of these 2 trucks towing say 9k#, but I would not be surprised if they had near equal MPG results for average conditions. Based on ratings, the XD does not appear to me to be a midpoint between the 150/1500 and 250/2500 trucks as Nissan claims, but does appear to be in the 150/1500 category. From every angle, this XD is simply overpriced. well, time and the market will tell.
+Quadrunner ; Toyota announced a diesel for 2017. Benz will have one, but unconfirmed target year. Chevy could easily adapt a 5L motor from Izusu. Ford is rumoured to consider adding a diesel to the F150. Ford's F250 will be entirely re-engineered for 2017. Ram is quiet now, but let's not count them out for a larger motor in the 1500. Much on the horizon to tantalize consumers.
Not much you could do on that ice, I agree. But I don't think those tires really suited the off road setting. Not aggressive enough. I was looking forward to the "deep snow"... but sadly, all I had seen was 5 or 6 inches of snow.
I love the new Titan I want one.
you guys should mashup the new titan vs the old titan
yank the fuse on the traction control and do it again!
Get toyo open country tires! The are the best A/T snow tire I have been on by far. I got up much steeper stuff without a locking rear. I got a 2013 Titan older body style because I didn't want such a tank myself...
@TFLTruck could you do a mashup Tundra TRD Pro vs Ram Rebel or Nissan Titan XD Pro-4x. Thanks
I hate how traction/stability control on these newer vehicles get you stuck. Foot to the floor and only idling in mud and snow. And even when you turn it off it still kills power if you start getting sideways. My 03 discovery has traction control but it doesn't reduce engine power at all.
Would love to see you guys take out the new Tacoma or 4runner out on some snow trails! Just make sure you got good tires on them before you go out and you'll be impressed!!
They should let someone that grew up driving in snow test that thing.
gr8 review, any chance you will be reviewing a 2015/16 4runner limited ?
The beginning of this test and the rest of it for that matter was a tire test as is most offroad tests but they should have tested suspension over bumps and ground clearnece, etc.
The feature I believe this truck would excell at, is towing a heavy off road pop-up camper up Gold Mine Trail, or having a heavy slide-in pop-up camper in the bed. One question I have is is there a clear label as to whether B20 biodiesel is compatible. In Houston, I have seen 6 Titan XDs, only one having 4x4, but the sticker was nearly $ 65,000.
Will you guys be taking the 2016 Tacoma TRD Offroad and Colorado Diesel here too?
Have you tried plastic zip-ties on the tires, or are those things just for one time emergency use ? I live in South Texas too, but I would love to drive a truck up Gold Mine Hill in the snow.
Hi guys, I've been watching some of your Gold Mine Hill tests in snow and ice. I've noticed your chase/camera vehicle doesn't seem to have any problems, can you tell us what you use and what equipment it's outfitted with? :)
You have a diesel in this truck which makes low end torque, ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK IN 4 WHEEL LOW, I believe the truck wouldn't have had as much wheel spin had it been in 4high...old school 4 wheeling guy here...
It's a nice truck but the price is definitely going to kill it in the segment.
I think the price is kinda fair, a lot of these trucks are 10k off msrp
58k is the going price for a loaded 4 door 4X4 full size truck these days. I believe this truck is great competition for other truck in the market.
it doesn't even have a sunroof
I'm pretty positive you should be able to turn off the traction control without having to go into 4 low. the old titan pro4x let you
On that section where the tree was (and the ice under the snow) would real snow tires or even spiked tires helped in that area?
I mean no truck would have made it up that hill, or very few at least.. With those tires. But Nathan did point out it was glare ice and anyone who has driven in the snow and ice would no how it's almost impossible to go up any incline.
With proper snow tires and lower air pressure...and maybe some chains, that hill would've been no problem for the Titan XD. I love this truck and engine and was planning to buy one to mate with a nice truck camper to travel in when I retire, but this think is just too heavy, compared to the competition. All that weight cuts too much into payload capacity. It's a shame Nissan didn't focus more on weight savings while developing this truck. It should be at least 700-800 lbs lighter. A similarly equipped F-250 Superduty weighs almost 1000 lbs less than this. That's crazy! The Titan is still a solid truck, just not the best choice for my needs.
Wonder if you'd air down the tires...that would make a difference??
Off the lot these are going to come with General tires?
Soooo...... Is this thing available with a GAS motor? It's 2016 now..
Ford raptor vs Nissan Titan XD in snow would be a good video to see which is better in snow.
Did you all forget the wonderful, manly Raptor needed to be pulled out with the winch a few videos ago... Ice will stop a Taco, Audi, ect too! Period.
Bro the raptor needed to be winched out of a tight spot where he couldn't floor it without risking of hitting the tree otherwise he could've ran it up the hill. The Nissan didn't get nowhere near where the raptor had made it up.
why dont you just put some wintertires under the cars you try take up the trail in the winter? i could get up the trail with my Audi a6 ffs -.-
but keep up the good work, love your show!
No full size truck with the same tires would make it up that hill. Deflate the tires down to about 5psi and it would have a better shot at it, we go snow wheeling alot and you would be surpised at how MUCH!! traction you gain by dropping psi, plus that is alot of torque right there... wheel spin is your enemy on those conditions.
You guys should take the new taco out on the snow.
I look forward to an updated fuel mileage test on a XD with more miles on it. The first test was disappointing.
you don't lose 4lo in snow, guys. you need wheel speed, and 4lo kills that. Yall guys need some people on staff that are experienced off roaders.
lol Good ol traction control. Starting to make it up that hill? Nope, not anymore.
+prestb Before one can control traction, one must have traction.😉
MrKeyboardCommando Haha yea, pretty much
+MrKeyboardCommando yup, tires are important
NIGHTMAREuki Tyres are absolutely essential. If you can't get traction, you ain't going nowhere.
+prestb
I pulled the fuse and have mine disabled. It's completely useless since I do some offroading in my truck
2016 Tacoma Off Road... That'll be the winner
Tires don't seem that aggressive, winter tires would be great for that ice.
Only about a 900.00 payment.
You should lower the tire pressure
would u guys buy it or lease it
Why don't you guys ever use chains? I think that would have given you the traction that you were needing.
If you guys find out any information on a block heater for the Titan XD, can you please share it? Thanks.
When is Nissan going to show off the regular cab longbed version ? not everyone wants a family truckster .
Why don't you put some proper winter tires on it? It would make up that hill no problem.
Leave Traction Control on the whole time +The Fast Lane Truck Nathan & Andre
COOPER AT3 tires, keep it in high range, and quit gunning it.
The main thing I don't like about the truck a the front end/ grill
This video is not what it's like to go through the snow in a 4x4..These guys don't live in snow country, it's very clear.
Try some decent tires.....
you don't know what is winter tire in colorado?
It may be a Pro4x, but the Titan is not a true off-road truck. It's a tow/hauler with some off road cred.
When is the frontier diesel coming out?
Don't forget Andre is Russian he knows how to drive on snowy roads.
Please use traction control! So much better when you dont know how to tackle something or when the tires aren't good enough!
How do you guys gain access to a truck like this? Are they even on the market place?
nissan pays them to advertise i think
I've always been curious how the ford raptor performs in the mud. Maybe make a video about it? @thefastlanetruck
Honestly, Gas struts suck. They take up a lot of room or blow. The springs that they use on GM trucks are much better. They probably use gas struts now too but idk. I hate the hood being propped up by a stick as well. Nothing as good as those spring ones
I wonder if some deep digging mud tires would have worked better on that ice with this heavy truck, I might be wrong, but maybe some big, deep digging tread blocks might have punched threw the ice. I wouldn't know, we never get that kind of snow and ice here in south TX lol
No, that wouldn't have helped. Some studs or chains would be your best bet.
Studded winter tires maybe
Does it have an engine block heater ??
It has a heating pad in the oil, if you buy one in Alaska it comes with a traditional heater as well
its all about traction and in this video its obvious that those tires dont provide traction on snow
It'd be impossible but it'd be nice if you could test all the vehicles on the same day.
Doesn't matter what vehicle you have, if there is ice and you don't have the right tires you aren't going anywhere.
I looks like its doing better than the trd pro tundra
Needs duratrac tires or toyos
what happen to ROME ??
my s10 would walk right up that hill
Omg I'm dieing my 2003 Toyota Tundra limited trd can go threw that with no problems with all season tires and sandbags to weight it down
Take a tundra up that hill
TRD would murder that hill
+robvas not on the same day in the same conditions and on the same tires
+NIGHTMAREuki dislike Toyota? They have an off road Tacoma 2016. Just a matter of time until they take it to the same spot.
+ted101975 no, nothing against Toyota, just over hyped in some aspects. won't defy physics though
+A$AP BiSHOP Same thing would happen. Toyotas can't defy physics.
This is why you bring chains and/or traction mats of some sort. You abviously have never been snow wheeling.
Oh, great ! I'm first for a truck, again.
I thought they said they were going to go through deep snow? That was less than 6 inches lol.
I want to see the new GMC Acadia AWD go up gold mine hill
+James Stencil Actually I wouldn't mind see that either.
Nah its ok. Those cars are trash. GM should go back to the boards and give us back a REAL midsize RWD body om frame suv. Not this unibody crap
+Frank Magana the GMC Acadia 2016 is amazing so I want to see the new one
+James Stencil no. Its a heap of junk. If you want a suv, get a real suv. The gmc dealer has REAL suvs sitting in their lot. Im part of a family of 6 and it is not comfortable in their. GM needs to leave the fake suv's to someone else because Gm makes the best body on frame suv in the world.
+Frank Magana Your grammar does not make sense. You're contradicting yourself.
lol. Half the guys commenting here want them to bash a brand new truck that they dont own into a tree for the sake of theater. Who's gonna pay up if they do? Why would Nissan give them anything else ever?
I can't even walk on ice lol
Since when is Andre a host
if im buying a nissan its for its prowess on pavement...nissan has always taken a back seat to toyota for offroad but when it comes to power and driver comfort/ enjoyment, the nissan wins and just accept the fact it will burn out power door locks and windows all the time
agree 100%
