    I don't get the complaints about rear visibility. We now have back-up cameras as standard equipment so parking is easy and safer. Also, when you are driving and you check your rearview mirror, as long as you can tell if someone is behind you or not, that's really all you need to know. I see no issues here.
    The one thing people need to be aware of with the new Prius is that even though it is more powerful than before, it is not built for sport. The wheel and tire sizes are still super narrow which makes it efficient, sure, but it will have less than average grip for braking and cornering which could definitely get some people in trouble if they push this car without opting for alternative wider wheels and tires. The 195s on the last gen were not very grippy. I even accidently oversteered/drifted my 2017 turning around a bend at the bottom of a steep hill but managed to pull my car out of it with steering and throttle. Braking quickly at high speed also seemed sub par since that contact patches are so small. The car would often feel like the tires would slide under heavy braking. I now run wider tires for better grip and safety which I think is worth sacrificing a few MPG for. Not saying you have to get wider tires but know that you should drive very conservatively on the stock tire sizes and realize there is actually very little grip which is why the car can get such phenomenal fuel economy.

    I recently saw a video about how while most motor companies are jumping on the bandwagon and going all electric, Toyota is going the more cautious route of building hybrids instead. There's some logic to it all, as plug in hybrids use electric power for short trips around town and a petrol engine for longer trips. From what I've heard, on longer road trips a lot of time is consumed with charging up for a totally electric car, if you can find a charger. The hybrid Prius doesn't have that problem and thus has the best of both worlds.

      The long-term planning vs. quarterly (for the American shareholders) and the cultural difference (the Japanese people aim for perfection) are resulting in the best quality, the most reliable and the lowest TCO cars.
      It seems very simple, but it is not.

    In practical long road trip driving a Prius is much faster than a Tesla. Reason is both can make the speed limit+ no problem; but the Tesla will need to stop every 200 miles for at least 30 minutes. If you drive from Seattle to San Fransico the Prius can arrive almost 2 hours earlier. In a 700 mile drive, if you start at 8 AM the Prius will get you in town at 6 PM in time for dinner, maybe check out the town; the Prius driver won't show till near 8 PM; just enough time to check in and go to sleep. Tesla drivers of course say you could make your last charging stop and eat but your limited in your choices near a charging spot.

    • @royphillips7644
      @royphillips7644 Před rokem

      He said the Prius driver won’t get there until 6 PM and then you said the Prius driver will get there at 8 PM. Which is it? If in the second scenario you mean the Tesla driver. He ate on the road. He doesn’t have to get there at 6 PM. If he gets there at 8 PM and goes to bed, he must be very old and tired.

    • @litestuffllc7249

      The tesla driver will also have zero maintenance associated with an ICE engine. Get a rebate taking nearly 10k off the price putting it barely any more expensive than the prius with more features, better safety, and noticeably faster if it matters. Do that trip enough times and you'll quickly find your prius is costing more than your tesla. But you'll get there earlier :)
