  • For years I wrestled with the cheap overlapping doors on my coat closet. They were ugly, barely functional and blocked half the opening. They badly needed to be replaced. So, after a minor mudroom renovation...it was time. I made these out of a sheet of birch veneer plywood, a sheet of sanded plywood and a couple of 10 foot lengths of maple molding. One of my simplest and quickest builds yet. But what's amazing... is how beautiful the doors turned out. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Always inspired watching your videos, even if they are miles over my head sometimes. *THIS* was very nicely explained and I followed every bit. Thank you!

Great work~! I'm looking to replace our master bathroom bifold doors with one of these. You made it look really easy~!

Awesome build, Zach! Love your choice of color on the finish. Perfect!!
I so agreed with you that the first sample was too yellow.
Also, what a brilliant idea for your trim work- baseboard material, milled down.
Genius 💡!! Great example of work smarter, not harder. 👍🏼

Thanx again for another great build video, Zach! The doors look great, as does the matching ledger board. Now I just need a nice, big, sweet, & level assembly table.

Love these barn doors.. I like the design idea of leaving the ledger board the maple color with the hardware mounted on top. An awesome look!

Man, you make it look so easy! Did you ever make a desk from the old closet doors?

Thanks!! I ended up not turning them into a desk and instead used them to fill up the whole in my out feed table from my table saw when it broke

25 year old me: Hahaaaa look at dis loser wearing ear pro to use a POWER DRILL.
40 year old deaf me: Damn. What a sexy level of safety consciousness. Find this man and manufacture more of him.

By the way, I CRINGED when I saw you wearing a glove at the table saw. That is SO dangerous. If the blade catches the glove, it's gonna pull your hand in, causing a LOT more serious injury than if your hand hit the blade & you naturally pulled it back. Gloves & power tools are NOT friends.
