  • NIKE WILDHORSE 8 first run & first impressions review. In today's video I continue my search for a Nike trail running shoe that can actually handle tough UK winter conditions. Their Wildhorse has just had a big re-model and is pretty much a brand new trail shoe from the ground up. The outsole has been re-designed with chunkier, more aggressive lugs and Nike even claim that it's clad in a new sticky rubber compound! Now I'm not getting too excited at the moment because I've read bold claims like this from the brand before and been disappointed. I guess there's only one way to find out if these claims are true, let's go running!
    Really hope you enjoy the video, thanks for watching, we'll see you in the next video and as always - stay safe and keep on running!

    I gave these a try with the Nike 25% sale. Loving them! They are perfect for cruising in the trails, so comfy but still planted and stable. Will be go to easy day shoes for the trails now and I find more capable that the More Trail V2 they are replacing. Wouldn't have even been on my radar without this video! So cheers.

      @@TheRay1227 When "running shoes" are that cheap, unfortunately it tends to mean that they're just generic shoes. It won't have gone through any testing or development and the cheapest materials would have been used to keep the production cost to a bare minimum. The brands then call them running shoes but I really wouldn't recommend buying them. They normally perform badly and the durability is normally pretty bad! Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel it's really appreciated 🙏😊

    Brillant timing and spot on review. I have been slipping around in my Solomon gliderides since hitting the Cornish trails (Port Isaac) it been wet and muddy. So decided a 5mm lug was needed. I actually liked the Nike trail 4 GTX but the toe box was too shallow but loved the react comfort and response. So your review had me push the button on The Wild Horse 8s and they feel amazing! The test will be when I hit the coast path but Initial feel is ACE. Thank you, great content as always.

    Recently I started to run again, more for overall fitness and health, to add to strength training, so I'm thinking to invest in pair of decent trail running shoes, to stay off the pavement when I can. But problem is I have fairly large size feet and in my county usually number go up to 47 EU. Hopefully, since Nike is popular here, this model will be available in my size. Largest Hokas I found in road models were 48, but they are kind of on smaller size. Looking forward to long run review, to see are they still as good as first appearance shows. Great work Lloyd!

    O so happy with this review Loyd. I'm one of the few that really like the Nike trail shoes. I think I've had pretty much every version of the WH, TK and Pegasus trail and also the new Zagama. (which disappointed me a lot, don't like the midsole ). The fit is always perfect for my foot and I love the react midsoles. Price and durability is normally very good. Hopefully they haven't changed the fit.
    And yes, the shoes tend to be lethal in wet conditions. No doubt about that. But it seems like reviewers always try to find the biggest mud hole or slippiest wet rocks for their tests, so they can conclude how bad the grip is. And it wasn't any good before the Zagama and now the WH8. But I just don't use them in these conditions. I take my inov8's.
    I'm really looking forward to getting these shoes. They sound like the perfect shoe for me. So thank you so much for this review and I hope you will make a review of the new TK9 as well.

    Just received mine today and did a quick 5k and the comfort is something to write home about. From the seemless tongue to the midsole, these are definitely more comfortable than the peg 4 with more room in the toe box. The weight in my size 8 was 10.5 oz, which isn't too bad. The only negative I got is I wish the heel design came up a little higher as I do with most nike models. I hit some snow patches and didn't struggle with grip they did slide a tad on the ice but it could be due to the grip not being worn in yet. They do run a tad warmer, so they should be idel for spring and fall temperatures. Btw the fit true to size with one of the best nike fits i'v ever experienced personally.

      @Run4Adventure  Před rokem

      That's great to hear Micky, it's definitely a very comfortable shoe! It sounds like you had similar issue to me with the toe box depth, the Wildhorse horse a lot more volume in the toe. Hope you continue to enjoy your shoes and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊

  • @The.JZA.
    @The.JZA. Před rokem +2

    5mm lugs!? That's huge for Nike! I'm really happy to hear that because a 3mm lug turns into a zero mm lug in no time. At least 5mm will last a bit longer. I'm looking for some lightweight hiking shoes just for day trips, maybe up to 5-6 hours. I was looking at the Nike Trail 4 GTX but these look like they have more sole protection and chunkier lugs so might be a better bet. Also a little cheaper. Do you think they will make good light hiking shoes? Nothing too technical just walking in forests and up some mountain sides.

    I've said this before, but Nike should just roll back to the Nike Terra Kiger 4 and the Pegasus 32. Both came out around the same time and both were, for me personally, hands down the best shoes Nike ever produced in their respective categories. I miss my Kigers dearly. I literally ran a trial ultra with a pair of Terra Kiger 4's straight out of the box.

      Totally agree Mikkel, it makes no sense! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊

    Nike can't seem to make a decent trail shoe. Just don't.
    I am sticking to Saucony. I have the original Mad River TR and just got a pair of Exodus Ultra. I prefer the low stack height and the width of Mad River. Best trail runners I've ever had.

    Lack of details is a deal breaker for me

    Nike claims 8mm drop

      I thought it was around 8mm Rich, thanks for the info 👍😊

    Eh. Do those details really matter? Pretty sure 95% of the people couldn’t tell the difference between a shoe with a 6mm drop and an 8mm drop if they didn’t know which one is which.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  Před rokem

      I agree, there's not a lot of difference between a 6mm or a 8mm off set but with no information you have no idea what it is? It could be a 12mm off set or even zero drop and there's a lot of difference between them 🤔
      Surely the information should be there so you can decide if the running shoe is going to work for you.

      @@Run4Adventure I do find it hilarious that is says “Not intended for use as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)” in the information of the shoe. Hahahah
