- After my first run in the new Nike Wildhorse 8's I was actually impressed with how the shoes performed on some tricky trail conditions and I had high hopes for this pair of Nike trail shoes. Obviously it was just the first run and I really wanted to test out the new Wildhorse more thoroughly on a longer more challenging run. It just so happened that one of my favourite races down here in Cornwall, the KVK was just around the corner and I thought this would be the perfect test for the Nike trail shoe!
Really hope you enjoy the video, thanks for watching, we'll see you in the next video and as always - stay safe and keep on running!

I just did a 50 miler and ran the Wildhorse 8 for the first half. It handled everything. Thunderstorms, muddy climbs and bombing down hill with no slipping.
Even with heavy rain it drained much better than I expected. My new favorite and possible 2023 Pikes Peak Shoe.
That's great to hear Camden! Sounds like you gave the shoe a proper testing 👍
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
I absolutely love this video! What a race, what an atmosphere, what a day!! Fantastic to meet you and Liga on the day. Thank you so much for putting this video together. Brilliant stuff. Keep up the great work with the channel, and see you out on the trails again soon 😊
You had me at Nike wild horse 8 Loyd! …. Loving it
Hope you enjoyed the video James, thanks for watching 👍😊
Thanks! I just got myself a Pegasus Trail 3 from the Outlet and I think in a few months time this one will also be on sale half-off there. Excited on buying this shoe for my next years Trail races!
Great video, enjoyed the watch 👍
Beautiful scenery and good tune. Thanks Lloyd for another great vlog
Good afternoon. Congratulations Loyd. Interesting information about the wildhorse2023. Now i run with the Brooks cascadia 16. Here is my like. A nice week for everyone. 🌤️⛰️🏃
Always loved the Terra Kiger and Wildhorse for the comfort. Great shoes for dry trails. Used them for hiking but stopped using them for proper trail running here in Scandinavia. Maybe this is the shoe that will have me start using them for running on the trails again. Thanks for a great video and review!
I just ordered these after staring at the nike website for weeks. I wished i watched your videos first to save some time. I'm excited for the shoes to arrive!
Great video Lloyd I have been wandering if I could run long distance again after my hip operation, looks promising after watching your video.
Thanx again gave me a booster.
Thanks Sukhdip, really glad you enjoyed the video. Of course you can, you just need to be sensible. I don't really mention it on the channel but I had major hip surgery in 2009 and couldn't run for a year! Thanks for watching 🙏😊
Stunning route Loyd !!! The coast path is calling me 😂
Great video 😊
Cheers Pat, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 🙏😊
Thanks Lloyd. Bought the Wildhorse after your advice. Went out yesterday and was a great first run. Very comfortable both on and off road. Thank you for your continued great videos. Always positive and always helpful 👍
Thanks for your kind words Graham, they're really appreciated. Glad to hear you're enjoying your pair of Wildhorse, it's a very comfortable shoe to run in. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
Sounds like Nike is really improving their trail shoes , will try this at some point in fall . Appreciate your review. In the Pacific Northwest we have tons of wet weather in the winter and with nike being Portland based company; I am happy they are finally fixing the outsole.
Totally agree Paul, it's about time Nike sorted it out 👍
Thanks for watching 🙏
Take me back there… what a day! Beautiful day and incredible route. Great video Loyd, captured the route really well - that final descent off the beacon is epic. Loving it as always mate!
Great to see you at the KVK mate. Really glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, it's appreciated 🙏😊
I picked up this shoe on launch day in the UK and ran 25 miles in terrible wet conditions - I loved it. The cushioning is so comfortable over technical ground, and you feel so low to the ground. One big positive is that the tread pattern doesn't accumulate huge amounts of dirt and falls off very well, which has been a massive problem in the past.
That's great to hear, it's a solid trail shoe and I'm glad you're enjoying yours. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
Hey Loyd.
Nice views with a nice trail.
Good effort out there 👊🏻
Thanks very much 🙏
Really glad you enjoyed the video and the views, thanks for watching 😊
The editing is next level❤
Thanks very much 🙏😊
Love it. What an absolutely stunning and spectacular race! So beautiful and positive atmosphere.
I'm one of the few fans of the Nike trail shoes. Except form the Zegama, they are my favorite shoes. I've had pretty much every version of the Kerra Tiger and the Wildhorse. And this v8 sounds soooo good and I can't wait to get it on my feet. The react midsole is the best and the fit is normally spot on for my feet.
I miss the Kiger 2, this was a great shoe in dry and alright (average) when wet...
This sounds really promising from Nike, haven't touched their trail shoes before but tempted to try this one. Looks like a great race there Loyd, need to get out to this!
You should definitely run the KVK at some point, it's awesome! 🏃♂️🏃♀️
Thanks for watching 🙏
Hi Loyd! Love your reviews and videos! I was wondering if you’ve been able to find out the specs for the Wildhorse 8 as far as heel to toe drop and stack height? Congrats on your race!
I loved this video. Last year Saucony Xodus Ultra and now this one.... Can it get any better?
Great video! 👍
I just bought another 6 pairs of Speedgoat 5 wide fit so i have 9 now, hopefully enough to last me the next 3 years before I have the pain of finding a shoe that fits and works again...
Might add Nike to the options next time if these keep getting good reviews.
Wow, 9 pairs of Speedgoats! They should keep you going for a while. Thanks for watching 🙏😊
Nice race. I have RttStones on July 8th but thinking about doing the 20km Serpent Trail because FR put on a great race and it's local and there's a bar and some burgers. 😂
I didn't really notice the shoes, sorry Loyd. 😁
Hi Loyd! I’m new here, about to buy the Wildhorse 8s because of your reviews, thanks mate!
Was wondering you could give us some insight on your warm up / stretch / workout (?) routine as the awesome runner you are!
Thanks! Love the content!
Welcome to the channel, I’m glad you’ve found us! I’ll see what I can do and thanks for watching, I’m glad you’re enjoying the content 🙏🙂
Awesome views and route. Would love to race the KVK one year. We’re staying in St Agnes for a week at the end of May so I may have to give it a go on my own. 😬
You should definitely run the route while your down Stuart, especially if you want some hill training! 😊
Thanks for watching 🙏
Great Vlog today Lloyd, looks like a shoe to go up against the Pegasus Trail 4's.
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video. I personally think the Wildhorse 8 is a better, more consistent trail shoe Aj. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
@@Run4Adventure I will take your advice under consideration.
Quality Video. Great to catch up with you both. See you at Serpent maybe? 👌👌
Cheers Mark 👍
Great to catch up with you guys and well done on your run 🏃♂️😊
Thanks. 'alright mate'🤣🤣🤣🤣 Enjoy Europe, hope it goes well. 👍
Nike..... Finally!! 😂 What an amazing route that looks ,,😎
It's a fantastic route to run, especially in the sunshine! 🌞
Thanks for watching 🙏
Great test and race video👍. So sad we just had two days at the campsite there at the beacon in 2017 I should come back and do more trails there. How about testing the Kiger 9 now that Nike is back in the game?
I'm probably not going to test the Terra Kiger 9. I was so dissapointed the last time I ran in the Kiger I don't think I'll bother 👍
Thanks for watching 🙏
Good video again Lloyd but I'd really like to see a video on your socks, cuz you've worn some great designs....❤
Most of the socks I wear come from Stance Matt. They make so great sock in lots of bright and colourful designs 🧦😁
Thanks for watching 🙏
Saw you at serpentine yesterday and was gonna ask for more detail on thoughts about Wildhorse 8 as my 7s just broke at the sole to upper connection
I ran yesterday in Hoka Speedgoat 4s so guess my choice is 5's vs the Wildhorse 8?
Great video Loyd 👏 gun to your head, these, the Mafate Speed 4 or Xodus Ultra 2 ?
Xodus Ultra 2 Ian 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏
If I want to get info on trail shoes, this is where I come. Just ordered mine at RM328 (approx £59). Not much of a trail runner... Just buying 'in case I need it' and while it's cheap hehe 😅
Thank you for this helpful reviews. Did you try them on damp, slippery rocks or rocky terrain? I am from the US southeast where damp rock and moss are common on trails. I love my Wildhourse 7s which I can wear on road and trail, but they slip on damp rock. I wear my Speedgoats 4s on trails during or after rain or on very humid days.
Glad you enjoyed the video. If you take a look at my first impressions video featuring the Wildhorse 8 it was filmed in muddy, wet conditions and the Wildhorse performed well. I'd say the level of grip and traction is a lot better than the pretty terrible 7's but not as good as Vibram megagrip 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏
@@Run4Adventure, I really appreciate your feedback. So, it sounds like the Spedgoat 5 may be my shoe. I have the 4 which I always use on wet trails... and they have replaced hiking boots entirely for me! I've read a lot of great reviews of the SG5. One thing I still love about my Wildhorse 7s is that they feel good on roads too, so they're great road-to-trail shoes. How do the WH8s feel on pavement?
@@scottgh Nike have always made good trail shoes for road running! 😜
The Wildhorse runs well on the hard stuff 👍
Thanks for the review! What would you choose for a 50k or 50m? Wildhorse 8, Peregrine 13, or the Xodus Ultra 2?
I'd go with the Xodus Ultra 2. I've used the Xodus Ultra for quote a few Ultras and I've never had any foot issues, no blisters, no rubbing and no black toe nails! Obviously that's me and running shoes are very personal 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏
25% off these at the moment so going in, worst case they’ll be a good backup for my xodus ultra’s 👍🏻
25% off is a great deal for the Wildhorse 8 👍
Hope you enjoy them and thanks for watching 🙏
How does this shoe compare to the Nike Zegama?
Great review!
I personally think it runs a lot better on technical trails than the Zegama. I found the Zegama very unstable Sheldon. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊
@@Run4Adventure thanks a lot for the reply. This was very helpful
▶️Amazing ♥️♥️♥️
Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🙂
A proper trail shoe from Nike...who would've thought...
I know, that's exactly what I thought! 😲
Thanks for watching 🙏
Plans to test the Kiger 9?
Probably not unfortunately. I've spent my shoe budget this month and I really was dissapointed the last time I ran in the Terra Kiger. Thanks for watching 🙏😊
@@Run4Adventure Haha fair enough, just wondering if they fixed the rubber. Specs wise it might compete with the Kjerag, heavier but also cheaper.
Is this shoes waterproof?
My Wildhorse 8's weren't waterproof. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏😊
This video shows a lot of the great outdoors. I like your superb reviews and all the positvity, but there is a part missing for me, planet positivity. The ethical part. Lately a lot of Salomon & Saucony and now even Nike. Some of the worst brands from an ethical perspective. Think People (labor policy), Sustainability (not just some Greenwashing sauce), Animal wellfare... Hardly any reviews on the more ethical brands out there, so would be great to see some on this beloved channel.
