Alvin Lee of Ten Years After fame. One of the greatest guitarists to have graced this planet. Also one of the greatest blues tunes I've ever heard. RIP Alvin. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction.
George Harrison's slide guitar playing was spectacular and did for "The Bluest Blues" a lot like what Duane Allman's slide guitar laying did for "Layla."
The thing that makes the song so spectactular is the contrast between the sweet gentle mournfulness of George's slide solo (and the tender fingerpicking twang behind the lyrics) and the sheer emotion of Alvin's outro. The first half plucks softly at your heartstrings and let you know the story. Then comes the second solo and .... Alvin dives in headfirst from the very first note, and just rips your emotions to shreds over and over and over again, until every single bit of musical misery is poured out all over the stage. When its finished, you simply dont have aything left. Perfect
Just subscribed! You should watch and hear Stevie Ray Vaughn sing "Texas Flood", live at the El Mocambo. One of the greatest guitar player's of all time. Along with David Guilmor, playing and singing "Comfortably Numb", live at PULSE, 1994. Keep on keepin on!
One of my favourite guitarists, two quotes about him, "he's the only guy I'd pay to go and see"....Jimmy Page. "Man that cat can play!"....Jimi Hendrix.
And another reactor comes under the spell of Alvin's (and George's) masterpiece. Please watch and listen and react to: Bill Henderson of Chilliwack Performs 'Fly at Night' on The Taylor James Show
I am glad you liked it! Though I feel you had to fight some tears a couple of times, or at least it looked like that. Hope the song can give you some comfort.
They were happy snuffles. I get them sometimes if music or a drawing/painting hits me in a way where it seems especially lovely for whatever reason . Whether the topic/focus is happy, sad, horrific, whatever just how some things are delivered if they ping that "beautifully done" spot in me I get snuffily. In real life, films/tv, books... basically most anything else I take in it doesn't tend to happen much, funnily. It struck that spot of so well done in spots it got me a little weepy. But it's a good thing. You wanna see a big time example watch for my The Cure - Disintegration reaction coming out Thursday. It's a spectacle hahahahaha.
@@rumpushasopinions This was his masterpiece, however he made really good music, but in most cases you really must like guitar playing. Alvin Lee is not known a lot anymore these days, but in the late 60s and early 70s he was one of the so called "guitar gods". He played in the band Ten Years After. If you like guitar playing and a bit of trickery you may enjoy the song Help Me by Ten Years After ( czcams.com/video/A19OMJ1Q9iU/video.html ). If you want a more accessible song with good lyrics then have a go at "I'd love to change the world" ( czcams.com/video/lSYFJB7o9ZQ/video.html ). It also was their only hit single. Their most iconic song was (and for many the best performance of that festival) at Woodstock, called "I'm going home". ( czcams.com/video/2YB7qyn5MVs/video.html ). Hope that gives you some choice! :)
Thanks. My reactions vary from no stops to an extreme amount but are usually somewhere in the spectrum between. They'll just be whatever comes naturally for that song and me :)
If your comment with a request has been hearted then it's on The List!

One of my absolute favorite blues performances.
Never get tired of that song. Introduced me to all of Alvin’s work. Excellent.
Alvin's performance at Woodstock was one of the HIGH points of the concert... A must see!!!
It and Soul Sacrifice by Santana
The only guitarist that knows how to really make a guitar cry. Voted to be the greatest blues song ever written. Thanks
Your reply is so genuine.....the perfect way to enjoy a beautiful piece. And a George Harrison slide solo as a bonus. :)
George Harrison's slide guitar playing was spectacular and did for "The Bluest Blues" a lot like what Duane Allman's slide guitar laying did for "Layla."
Alvin Lee was certainly one of the most underappreciated guitarists, along with Gary Moore and Roy Buchanan. Tremendous performance.
he was only underappreciated by the critics the press and mostly by the r&r hall
hall of shame
his fans and especially his peers know how great he was
Harrisons slide work was fantastic, no question there. But Alvin's solo was absolutely spectacular - stunning.

Absolutely the correct reaction .. precinct
Gorgeous.
it is indeed the bluest of the blues!
An emotional ride that just flat wears you out! Fantastic!
You may have heard of George Harrison though and it was George playing that first solo on slide guitar, and Alvin's outro solo is of course epic.
Huh???
Love this song so much 💕

You know, when you started smiling the first time, you were listening to the work of the so called 'quiet Beatle' doing his friend Alvin a favour. :-)
DIDN'T THINK YOU WERE GOING TO MAKE IT....😎

Do you have any more specific suggestions for him?

Stop cutting out during the solo. Just let it run over you.
GEORGE HARRISON IS "THE GOAT".
